Hey there, don't mind me, I'm just here to promote Kiwi Talkz' channel and highlight some fantastic interviews with ex Retro Studios staff that he has done over the past few months! He just put out a new interview with former Retro Studios Lead Engineer Jack Mathews and it's an absolute corker! Brilliant interview that gives some behind-the-scenes insight into his time at Retro Studios! Well worth a watch/listen He's also done interviews with plenty of other ex Retro Studios staff including Bryan Walker (Metroid Prime 2 & 3, DKCR and Mario Kart 7 Lead Producer), Kynan Pearson (Metroid Prime 2 & 3 and DKCR Level Designer), Clark Wen (Metroid Prime 1 & 2 Audio Designer) and Mike Wikan (Metroid Prime Trilogy Lead Designer), that I highly recommend checking out!

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl (19th November 2021)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yeah, it sounds like they recorded it directly from the DS' speakers, it defintely doesn't sound like it's supposed to (I have the official DPP OST release, it's definitely not right here in BDSP; there's basically no bass whatsoever!) I'm guessing that its been done intentionally to trigger nostalgia for those crappy DS speakers? -
HOOOOOOOOOOLY SHIT!! Someone actually managed to find an actual, real Nintendo Iris development kit!! AND IT'S FULLY FUNCTIONAL!!! For those that aren't aware, the Nintendo Iris was originally supposed to be the successor to the GBA, before it was eventually refitted into Project Nitro (AKA, the Nintendo DS). This is the first time we've ever seen an actual functioning Iris prototype (circa 2003, before it was turned into the Nitro/DS), and as it turns out... It's... well... looking very much like a DS with only a single screen! A facinating piece of Nintendo history, never before seen either way though

It’s almost as if Switch didn’t already have these features almost 5 years ago or something…

E3 2021: Digital Edition, TGA's 2021 & other 2021 events

Looks like the TGA GOTY winner just leaked... lol Sony obviously got their check cleared early -
Ed Fries is also posting behind-the-scenes memorabilia and cool bits... Apparantly Microsoft tried to buy Blizzard back in the early 2000s... Twice!

All that lovely new content, and they still don't fix the useless in-game camera to work like all the other games in the series? Sigh

Finally had a chance to check the site out, super friggin' cool! I love how candid it is, they certainly aren't afraid to highlight their own mistakes and foibles along the way... No lies detected Bit odd that they don't highlight the Rare aquisition though; they make a point out of the purchase (and quick demise!) of Beam/Mixer, but they don't highlight the purchase of Rare!? Bit odd. Love all the prototype stuff they show off too! (Mostly of the original Xbox and just a little bit of the 360; would be nice to see more of that stuff from their later consoles too). Makes me pretty excited for the upcoming Xbox documentary series God I wish we could get just a little bit of this level of candidness from Nintendo & Sony... would kill to be able to see behind the curtain like we're getting from Xbox here. Xbox is killing it with their anniversary celebration here!

Ruddy hell! Honestly shocked that they actually made 2021! Was the last device I expected to actually make its ship date (so ironically, it would end up being the only one that did ).

"Sorry we got caught, but we're so generous that we'll let you buy the original games again, but only exclusively on our own PC launcher, and only as a bundle; oh and fuck you if you want the original console versions put back on sale too." Not exactly the most rousing Solumn Jpg apology ever really.

This has to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen… I’m in! … at least I would be if it wasn’t free to play; way to kill what should be something awesome

Deep down, we all know that this game is never coming out…

Bravely Default 2 was ineligible due to the art style alone, unfortunately. -
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl (19th November 2021)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Reviews are coming out now. Nintendo Life gave it a 6/10? Ouch! They rate basically every first party release highly, so that's pretty brutal coming from them! BTW, Nintendo Life's review is very shit and very poorly written, NE would never have approved such a crappy writing job -
Looks horrific... I LOVE IT!

https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/56695 Very interesting to see Nintendo actually write a justification in their patch notes for this bug fix... that's VERY unusual for them to do! They're clearly trying to preserve the current experience for speedrunners/sequence breakers; which is awesome to see!

Nice to see Metroid Dread get a nomination, even if it’s just a token gesture. Anyway, like I said before. Deathloop will likely take the award, only Psychonauts 2 really has a shot at beating it; but the media always favour AAA “Oscar Bait” 3D action game productions, so Deathloop it is. Deathloop will also likely clean up everywhere else outside of the TGAs as well. Not much other viable competition this year (almost everything else is in the wrong genre). Edit: @killthenet Yeah, sadly both Forza and Returnal are in the wrong genres, so they won’t be in the running for GOTY from anywhere.
