The Wii U might be as good as dead but about a third of its owners are pretty much willing to purchase anything Nintendo put out, from Smash to Captain Toad to NES Remix. They might not make a fortune off of the Wii U but they could easily break even and then some if they keep getting existing owners to purchase titles. It's worth remembering that titles like NES Remix, Mario Maker, Wind Waker HD, Captain Toad etc have incredibly small costs associated to them yet will will all sell beyond a million units.

The beauty of Smash is that you can play it on a completely casual and fall in love with it. It celebrates everything that is great about Nintendo whilst also being a solid game. I'd say about 10-20% of the audience that buys Smash is actually 'good' at the core game and understands/can use all of the mechanics, but you can never see that side of the game and have a blast. Heck, I played Melee for 3 years before I even understood how to 'combo' but up until that point it was the best game I'd ever played lol. So yeah, but it You're in for a blast

Just on the United resurgence, it's worth remembering that Spurs hammered QPR and then lost 3-0 to Liverpool. The key for United is how they perform in the games against the top 4 and also Everton and Spurs. I don't think they'll finish top 4 but if they can do well against those teams then you never know. The one concern for me regarding United is that RvP looked poor throughout and Rooney will never get dropped, despite his hit and miss performances over the past 2-3 years. I can't see them being consistent enough across the year to get back into top 4.

Make it this one! Honestly, the gameplay is just fantastic in the Bayonetta games. It's on another level to games like Dynasty Warriors. Do eeeet.

We got an email from the developers at the beginning of August saying it should release in the EU in 'aroudn 6-8 weeks' so hoping by this time next month you'll have completed it and be in awe of its awesomeness.

The size thing is a non issue really. Hell, in Mario 64, Sunshine and the Galaxy games, Bowser is WAY bigger than Mario. Ridley's exclusion is mainly because Metroid is not something on Sakurai's radar especially as it's more popular in the West than in Japan. Unfortunately, he gave us 3 Kid Icarus characters instead, 1 being a clone. Also, you know how before matches a little 'tip' comes onto the screen? Apparently many of those actually explain advanced techniques, such as Smash DI and pivot grabbing. Pretty cool addition

Yeah I agree with all of this. It feels and plays like Melee, Brawl and 64 all in one package.

Yeah the demo has made me consider not getting the 3DS version, although the Wii U version WILL be mine.

As Dan Adelman said in this weeks RFN episode, every decision from Nintendo comes from Japan and, as with the Gamepad and it's focus on off-TV play (which is a big deal in Japan as households only tend to have 1-2 TV's), their decisions aren't focused on where the majority of their fans are (i.e. the West). It's an afterthought, unfortunately. I doubt I'll ever play Smash Run with anyone tbh, unless @Zell expresses an interest in playing it. Very odd decision as the 3DS version was supposed to be the single player version whereas the Wii U version of the game was the traditional party game; why make the 3DS Exclusive mode local multiplayer only?

Definitely I can't wait for Captain Toad and Yoshi..looking forward to having something to play with my girlfriend again. I am tempted by Hyrule Warriors but I'll wait until I don't have anything else to play before I get it. I'm currently playing through Teslagrad and Steamworld Dig, whilst my Vita is occupying my spare time with Rogue Legacy. Man, I love indies atm

Now you mention it, the last Wii U game I put into my console was Mk8 as well (I've been living off Indie titles since). Before that I played through RE4 (Wii Edition) so that means the last Wii U game that I actually put into my console was SM3DW back in March. God damn.

Wii U sold around 59k compared to just under 200k for the PS4. Eugh. It needs Smash so bad.

It doesn't look like it. I don't know if my 3DS is registered tbh. I know my Wii U is from the last giveaway and I know that my 3DS and Wii U have a linked NNID but I don't think I've ever registered it. Hmm. So confused
