  1. quick re: on HL ep 3. Source engine, as exists now, is not source engine as existed for HL2. It's at least version 2- probably version 3 by now. Think about Left 4 Dead and the kind of new technology being used there in a supposedly 'old' engine. Nonsense to call it such. and yeah, that's pretty much all I want to see this year too. Episode 2 floored me and valve have produced nothing but gold this gen. Very excited.
  2. Mad Men season 2 finale. superb. such a strong series. I can't really talk about it spoiler free so I'll stick to saying the finale was a blindingly powerful thematic centre point to the whole series, masterfully set against the fear, anxiety and eroticism of the Cuban missile crisis. suit up/ 10
  3. say what you will, but that one in the forest was textbook
  4. I thought it was fantastic Like aimless said- variety is in your hands, not the game's. If you're willing to play it that way, the mechanics can lead to some truly breathtaking moments that rival the rightest scripted moments from the best shooters. It can get boring, but if you put effort in, the game rewards in spades.
  5. what the fuck are you on about? I didn't mention the 360. It's got nothing to do with this game being free to play at all.
  6. I switched courses at the end of first year. Try your departmental secretaries and see if you can get the ball rolling with them (they do have the most immediate access to your info/ grades/ MI5 file). They do most of the leg work anyway, and they only refer to academic staff to confirm you're not running from a terrible grade or anything. hope that helps.
  7. you're surprised it's free? this isn't an MMO, it's just big looking ridiculously cool i have to say. makes me really want a ps3!
  8. an inside alternative should it rain: the london film and comic con is on that day http://www.londonfilmandcomiccon.com/
  9. I believe various cd burning devices enable that very process at the click of a button.
  10. I fucking love light gun games. um. yeah!
  11. I'm not really in to their second album. There's a few tracks i love (Slow Hands says hi) but overall I found it a bit flat. Our Love To Admire was much more a return to form.
  12. Yes! sweet victory! In other news: I'm on another Interpol kick. Definitely one of my favourite bands. Their music is just so articulate; it's so fine and delicate that it demands utmost attention as soon as they strike a note. For a band with such a cool image, they're strangely emotional too. They capture a certain essence with their lyrics and I find them immensely moving.
  13. One imagines a missing stanza penned by Dante.
  14. they were on a wii remote? :p back to comics! who took over X Men after Whedon & Cassiday? Is it worth reading?
  15. I got mine too. A challenge, but also two of the people I would have picked myself, given the choice. in other news: terrible night's sleep. I woke up around 3 am out of sorts and it took me almost an hour to get back to sleep. I overslept massively and feel like a right bellend.
  16. web of Shadows was an abomination. I took my 360 to be tested after I had to review it.
  17. actually they both are. haha. Corps is more of an ensemble job though- and I much prefer the various Lanterns in that.
  18. he needs to talk less and kickbox more Russians, presently. Or Firefly pilots.
  19. These Green Lantern books are going to give me a fraking stroke I'm like...jumping over 3 series' (am I? probably?), dealing with the shit scans and about 20 fraking years of continuity over Green Lantern, JLA, Green Arrow...arrgh. still, it is bitchin. I'm also enjoying the fact that the central character is, basically, a bit of a cunt. makes a change.
  20. The art was truly spectacular. Understated, clean and so much more realistic than most comic art. I absolutely loved it.
  21. aside from that, the insecurities it bought to the surface, even in a mind as brilliant as Hank's, was pure X-Men territory. It was Morrison's best writing (with the possible exception of Cyclops)
  22. yeah well..you're wrong, then. :p
