  1. QFT You listen to a band called Oceansize dan? From the bands you go on about they're probably you're sort of thing (aka awesomeness) Got the new YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO album a couple of days ago, its taking some serious work to get into tbh and im not all that sure i like it
  2. sounds good to me, might pick up this weekend!
  3. Yes, but HD DVD keeps getting confused with Upscaling DVD
  4. Anyone for gears?
  5. Gears anyone?
  6. You could dual boot Windows 98 with XP or run 98 in a virtual machine (i'll find a good guide if you're interested). As far as getting the game to run on XP, you have no chance. If it won't run in compatibility mode then it won't run at all
  7. Amazing track! One of my favourite tracks ever! Anyone listened to the new Biffy Clyro album, 'Puzzle' yet? For those that don't know; it was leaked a few weeks ago. I'll be buying it next week when it comes out but ive been listening to the leaked version for a week now
  8. Left -Wearing a headset on the right ear is just plain weird!
  9. What course are you going to be studying? This matters because you might need to run certain programs for you're course, not all specialist software appears on Mac (in fact, the vast majority doesn't) Also you're University might well provide you with an MSDN subscription (might be worth phoning and asking) in which case it would give you Office et all for free. I don't think the OS X version of Office is included in this (maybe someone can confirm this?) Other than that a Mac might be the best solution, laptop-wise they are great (maybe even the best) machines!
  10. I lol'ed
  11. Most publishers are backing both now or will be soon. They've all realised or are begining to realise that this isn't going to end quickly and that theres more money to be made by backing both. Sony and maybe Disney will remain Blu-Ray exclusive, other than that its down to releases. Its pretty even at the moment but HD-DVD is looking like it will have the better summer (The Matrix Trilogy being a prime example)
  12. Acer's are fine as far as software is concerned, you get a very good machine for you're money. The thing you have to worry about is the casing and aftercare. I've had the casing on my Acer Travelmate brake 4 times in 2 years, Acer are less than quick about fixing it too (takes an average of 6 weeks!) Sony on the other hand are the complete opposite; they build very good laptops but the spec sucks for the cash. Unless you want to play games on the thing i'd go somewhere in between, a HP or Toshiba would be a good bet.
  13. So why the hell are you in this thread then? Its a discussion thread about the merits of Macs and PCs, if the only thing you have to contribute is ignorant fanboyism then please make you're way back to the Mac Thread and stay there
  14. Use SUPER © to convert: http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.erightsoft.com%2FSUPER.html&ei=YrZZRqXANKKGQOqLqJsF&usg=AFrqEzfu_B5CqAW26m0uXAuCBzmXfpv2Gg&sig2=JC_usNgEAEJ--FXOwHUvUg 360 compatible codecs: http://blogs.msdn.com/xboxteam/archive/2007/05/09/spring-07-video-playback-faq.aspx Set up media sharing on you're Xbox 360: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/digitalmedia/pc.htm Same sort of story on Vista, but the number of supported codecs through Media Centre is bigger + the user interface is far better
  15. simple answer, no but you can use tversity to transcode it or convert to WMV HD (other codecs too but i can't remember off the top of my head)
  16. I'll add you. If im hosting its usually Excecution, first to 5, 5 Sec Bleed-Out, revolver swapped with tourque bow. Different people host different stuff though so it depends whose hosting
  17. DivX DVD players can play DivX straight from a DVD disk. Some of them have a card reader or USB port too for playing DivX encoded files (highly recomended, will save you a lot of money in disks)
  18. No links at all? If not then it isn't a worm Try a scan with Ewido: http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
  19. portable HDD? Would be cheaper and surely you don't need all you're media at once
  20. Gears anyone?
  21. Pit really could be the most unbalanced character ever! 2 Swords, a Bow and the ability to fly! Against Mario, an overweight plumber who can shoot fireballs out of his hands...
  22. Quicktime is horrible! Unfortunately Apple seem determined to send it the way of Real Player Personally i rank AVG and Kaspersky as the 2 best. AVG due to being good and free, Kaspersky due to it being the best
  23. exactly tbh Windows only has a Virus 'problem' because half the people using it have a lower IQ than a pea. Its not hard to avoid Viruses: 1. Don't use McAfee or Norton anti-virus, both of these suck. Badly. Avast is best avoided too, the free version is crap 2. Don't open any files ending in .exe without scanning for viruses first 3. Schedule regular virus scans 4. Keep you're AV up to date. If its subscription based then don't go cancelling the sub From what you described it sounds like OS X will open the file whatever the extension? So if a Virus was hidden as a Jpeg, it would warn the user and if the user chose to proceed then it would open the file as an executable? If thats true then be glad OS X doesn't have some of the idiots that use Windows!
  24. Have you bought yet? Ebuyer just emailed me about this: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=106578&_LOC=UK
  25. LoveFilm have sent me another Movie/Game combo, A Scanner Darkly and Fight Night Round 3 should arrive in the morning! Can't wait! These 2 were right up at the top of my rental list so surprised to get them both at the same time
