i really want to go to ATP, but i never quite manage it. A couple of years ago The Mars Volta were curators and it was pretty much the greatest festival line-up ever for me, loads of really obscure bands I love but won't get to see, like Jaga Jazzist. This year Explosions in the Sky are playing, and again I cant go. Cruel cruel world!

5/10 not my cup of tea at all, but i'll give them some credit as i know that they do what they do well. if that makes sense... and a band: Deathcab for Cutie

i just traded in a heap of old stuff and got myself an xbox premium with gears of war, project gothem and GRAW, only spending £69. Very pleased with myself!

I was worried it was a PSU issue, as it's only 250w (a problem that should have been remedied, but they guy who built my pc 'forgot'). I have experiemtned, by booting on my pc without either dvd drive connected to see if that woudl remove the artefacts, but it hasnt helped. I'll try booting it with simply the master HDD and the graphics card and see if that helps. I don't know what condition the card was in when i got it, as it was second hand from CEX, but I assume that they test the components they sell so maybe it is a power issue. I have to get it sorted tonight, as my 48 hour return from CEX expires tomorrow! edit- it's definitely not a PSU issue, even with just 1 hdd and the card plugged in I still get nothing on screen but atefacts. I'll take the card back today, any suggestions what to get instead? edit mk. 2- I have now gone and spent even more money on a working graphics card, and it works. However, power is definitely an issue as loading up the game cuts out the graphics card. this is just getting ridiculous
-
thanks guys. I ended up buying a 256mb radeon 9800. currently it just beeps, but i'm sure i'll be able to get it sorted out tomorrow. edit - i think the reason its beeping is that it needs to be connected to the psu. unfortunately the cables on my psu are long enough to connect it without unplugging a hard drive of a dvd drive. Plus, even when i do plug it in there's no beeping, but there is a lot of garbled stuff on screen. This is looking like being one of the most expensive and complicated games i have ever bought!
-
well thats just great i hate pc gaming! any idea how much a graphics card that would work is likely to cost? ps thanks for all the help so far!
-
according to tinternet it supports 2.0
-
maybe, but the minimum requirements on the box are 128mb graphics, so even if its low end surely it should still be playable. edit - i'm a bit worried as i just tried to run Halo for the first time on this pc and even that didnt run well. How crap...
-
I decided to get a PC for the first time in literally years. I bought Europe Universalis 3, and I was sur ethat my PC confortably met all the minimum specs for the game. I have a 3ghz 64 bit sempron, 1gb ram and geforce fx5500 256mb graphics card. When I load it up it's clearly really struggling with the graphics, and when i move the mouse there is a ridiculous lag. The water effects are also very basic. Any ideas whats up? Is my pc not up the job, or is there soemthign else.

!aafr assuming you think how i think

I just saw it. To saw i was compleely blown away would be an understatment. It looked incredible, was true to the comic style, the story was told excellently, well acted. Just incredible. I think I will be seeing this several times in the cinemas. fantastic film.

so jealous! i love them, but they arent playing naywhere I can get to. Their new album is their best yet imo, I think it'll most likely be m album of the year, I just can't see what will beat it. Post rock is great, it gets addictive. I find the more post rock i listen to the harder it is to listen to anything else, as post rock is so beautifull that the rest of music just sounds ugly.

I agrre that there are some excellent live bands in the line up, but I have seen them (almost) all before. I think a satuday ticket to download and a saturday ticket to reading and i'll be sotrted for festivsal this year.
-
I might get a day ticket for reading saturday for Arcade fire. I have to see them! With any luck it'll be scheduled so I could see We Are Scientists in the tent. And maybe some good bands in the lockup/concrete jungle. I wish download wasnt looking crap this year
-
I was there in 2003! woop. sadly, I was only there on the saturday, but System of a Down and Metallica FTW! sorry, slightly drunk... edit: actually, its quite interewsting looking at the lineup from 2003, on the smaller stages. There are alot fo bands ont her smaller stages that are only now making it big, eg billy talent, keane, the scissor sisters, the futureheads and funeral for a friend were all low down on smaller stages. Just shows, these organisers know their stuff. still drunk btw, just a stroke of inspiration!
-
i'm drunk. Woo!
-
i dont think the headliners look good, but i NEED to see the arcade fire, so a day ticket on which ever day they play is the most likely option. I think I'm just going to do a one day for download this year too. I wish I could go to All Tomorrows Parties this year, Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky are playing.

i use software by a company called imtoo. Its really idiot proof. It literally couldnt be easier to use. The dvd ripper is free, and you have to pay a bit for the avi-dvd software, but its wqell worth it imo
