Well having now put in about 4 hours and had my first online experience with HoT, Chris and Neb and then a quick visit from Tales I feel there is a very simple way to sum up this game. It is the same Animal Crossing game we have all known and loved for the last few years but for the Wii generation. So many many things about it spack of it having more casual leanings. The most simple being that you can now save by clicking in the top right hand corner rather than having to run back your house (which you can also do). Also the city as has been said in many a review lends itself to a more casual audience who may not pick up the game everyday and therefore don't want to miss out on special events. The same endless slog of pursuing wealth and then having to plunder it all in Tom Nook's expanding wallet is still there. Couldn't they have mixed it up somehow and made it a little different rather than exactly the same. I have even found myself rushing through conversations as I am not as wrapped in it all thats sad as the writing is as great as usual. But what's good about the game? Well it is still as cute as ever...I also love some of self-referential jokes that fans of the series will get. Such as when you go to see the Major and he gets deja vu, little moments like this help to allievate the feelings that it is exactly the same? I love the bus trips to the city Kappn goes on and on makes me think of london taxi driver just talking shit and not waiting for a real response. Now on to the City the one big new feature aside from Wii Speak. I do quite like it. I struggle to play everyday so its nice to know I won't miss out on Redd. I still feel this is a missed opportunity though. Would it really have hurt to come up with some truly original ideas? Really? I still think there is one aspect of Animal Crossing that is lacking and thats interactivitiy. Mini Games are much derided but there is a place for them in AC if you ask me. Imagine if the city had some sort of arcade or such like, or a games room? It is just that little bit extra that would help bring the game above the others. For me I am on a free 21 day trial games rental...I will make my mind up at the end of that whether or not it is worth buying. I am still very much on the fence there is this sense that I have played it all before and why should I put money and time back into it again when I could pick up another new game I am yet to play? But then still there is this nagging feeling (something Nintendo is all to keen to tug on) that I have to restore the village of Pompey to the same glorious prosperity it enjoyed on the Gamecube.

Ok my rental copy turned up and I am about to play. I will come back with my friend code pretty soon! Despite being a critic of this (not the biggest though we all know who this honour goes to!) I am actually quite excited.

I have rented this should turn up today...I have bashed it in the past but my curiosity got the better of me...
-
But you can have it for ages on tesco rental... meh it won't take too long to realise whether or not I am going to get wrapped up in it again and whether or not I feel it has enough new stuff to make it worth owning.... I think people on here are far to accepting of buying what seems to be the same old game for price...I would rather rent it now whilst the online is still hot and everyone is playing it and then see whether it does offer enough. I am on 21 free days trial for tesco then got a 3 months free trial card off lovefilm trying to get me to come back (seems off as they are the same company!) so I could have this for ages...without actually paying for it!

I reckon it is going to be an Ac!d title...wouldn't surprise me if it hit home consoles finally...there have been rumours in the past.. Personally I think Dante is right Ac!d game coming to the iphone...it would make sense as Ac!d recently went to mobile phones, seems a simple transition.
-
Well just seen on my tesco rentals account that this is on its way to me...so will be able to play it and decide if its worth the money... I am still trending on the line that is repeated and rehashed stuff from the last 2 games...

This is the one I am thinking about getting; http://gearmedia.ign.com/gear/image/article/766/766069/hori-fighting-stick-3-20070220030502643-000.jpg IGN's comments are a bit worrying though for the likes of SF;

I'd say now it is more texture issues than framerate issues that effect PS3 versions. A few recent examples are Bioshock and Fallout which both have odd texture pop in. I've heard this is something to do with the way PS3 stores assets such as textures.

The biggest thing for me is the button placement, I really can't get my head around using the face buttons and the triggers for the moves...It's odd I used to play it more in the arcades more than on the controller... I think its perhaps best I get the stick not quite made my mind up when I am going to get it though...perhaps payday on 15th nice little xmas present for myself. Anyone know if it works with MK vs DC?
-
Have never really watched much single player coverage of this but there is ton on the net now like choze said and just wow this looks like the next step in terms of graphics for the PS3...gonna defo preorder this!
-
got this on my new rental list at tesco rental so look forward to trying it out before deciding if its worth buying...

Who is free on Sunday afternoon for some multiplayer? If not what about all day monday?
-
My main is Ken and 2nd either Dhalism or Vega...

those are pretty good, hope the D-pad works alright. I know people praise the PS3 one, but I am finding it really it hard to pull off moves, so assumed the hori stick would help as was good at pulling moves off in the arcade.
-
that is a pretty good site and lots of good reviews.
-
I have now played 7 games online of this and lost all of them! I plain suck at it! I can pull of special moves but in the heat of online battle I struggle to get them in. I think I may pick up a Hori stick been thinking about it for a while for this, MK vs DC and Streetfighter IV, think it may make those quarters turns for moves easier. I always prefered MK system of like back back towards rather than quarter turns of the d-pad.

fantastic news, not all that keen on the inclusion of stealth play though. It's like we have gone back in time when every game under the sun tried to include stealth play... Delighted this is coming back though, have to go back and play the original again at some point., one of my favourite PS3 games.
