Which is following the ipod model...something Sony seem keen to do..I still think in their mind they aren't in competition with the DS much like they aren't with the Wii..
-
They have a 10 year lifespan plan for all their consoles...not sure about PS1 but they certainly claim to have had the same plan for PS2 as they have harked on about for PS3...
-
Really? Played the demo and really enjoyed it but heard it got repetitive and boring...

It doesn't make sense to have such a high price point though. On the Qore episode they mentioned developers offering smaller products etc...over PSN so then why give it such a high price point that it isn't going to hit the masses. Yes the iphone and ipod touch are as expensive but they get aware with it because of the value of the ipod/apple brand, something Sony don't have now. It is wierd how Sony have lost that brand recognition they had back in 90's and early 00's. dwarf touched on it before. Back then if you were playing games it was always Playstation this Playstation that and certainly in my group of mates it was wierd to have a gamecube. Now its the other way round amongest casual audiences its all about the Wii and the hardcore it seems to be Xbox, Sony have a raw deal...it may be the time will soon be here to drop the Playstation brand...

Yeah £200 is way too much...theres no way thats a good price point to come in at.
-
That's why I asked if its possible, not too ludicrous to be true but whether or not its technically possible is another matter...

A lot of sites having quotes such as; will this be purely for file transfers or would it possible to use a phones 3G for downloading stuff to the PSP. Just a thought, cos likely the 3G tech would be more expensive to put in than Bluetooth...

Cheers forgot about those games. Yeah SC IV wasn't perfect it had some odd omissions, like the mission modes from previous games and the tower game was no where near as good but it was still a solid fighter and I loved the character creator not something I usually get into. Total opposite for me...It was all about Streetfighter and Mortal Kombat oh and Killer Instinct...Tekken was kinda this wierd game that I remember only a couple of lads at school used to talk about. Soul Calibur was an awesome game for me...remember playing it an arcade somewhere and on a mates Dreamcast, there is no way Soul Calibur 2 on the cube was lame! It's arguably the pinnacle of the series.

No...I've only had my PSP 3000 less than a year and its likely can still reap the benefits of the new emphasis on downloads via memory cards then I have no reason to upgrade. Plus I have a ton of UMD games so wheres the incentive. I don't think Sony will offer stuff that cheap, look at the line up at the moment its all retail priced...a few things have been reduced since they went on PSN but they are few and fair between, I think the real benefits of this will be more itunes app style games.

Having just looked at my dire financial situation I think I could have lived without it as well but nevermind it is really fun. Up to Bald Bull at the moment and finding him hard going...
-
How does it not have the history? It came out in the arcades in 98, tekken was what 94? That's only four years...Not all that long in the grand scheme of things...I guess compared to Streetfighter yes it doesn't have the history but what fighting game does?

Don't rub it in....Punchout is great though! Yay my faith in my decision is restored.

Yeah I've noticed that...I went off exploring one area and walked for miles and miles and found nothing of interest.

I'm not belittling Nintendo just without the casual market in my opinion the DS would nothing more than a curiosity. It's been mixture of luck and very clever marketing that have created this new market. Without it the DS would remain the third pillar it was originally and be this strange janky thing people go to play something different. Yeag agreed that is a pretty good relaunch, although not sure Rock Band is actually that good lol! Tried the demo and wasn't impressed but its approach to translating the gameplay to a handheld is far more interesting than slapping some plastic coloured buttons onto the side of the console (Guitar Hero on DS)

Your Gameboy one is wrong for starters; Gameboy > Gameboy Light > Gameboy Pocket > Gameboy Colour (Ok Gameboy Light was japanese only but a hardware revision none the less) It's six and two threes anyway, to blame Sony for re-releasing hardware isn't right when a precedent was set long before they entered the handheld market.

You can still do Operation Anchorage and The Pitt save that then download Broken Steel and tackle the last mission again right? The save I am on I have literally got to the last point before you hit the end, all I have to do is tell the guys I am ready to storm ahead to the water plantation place...

I don't get all these people who say they should trying to save the PSP or its a failure face it. It's still sold 50 million units worldwide how is that a failure by any stretch of the imagination?!!! The DS has only been such a success because it has entered the "casual" market, much like they have with Wii, the problem of getting into this market isn't unique to Sony its something Microsoft have struggled to get into as well.. Fact is PSP has lasted far longer than any of the handheld competitors have and it does have some great games. Its major problem initially was people trying to copy console experiences on the handheld when the titles that remember they are on a portable console are amongst the best there is...I don't think Sony have been as good as a 1st Party developer on PSP either tbh.

Whilst I think you do speak a lot of truth and having been a new Sony convert for a year now I do agree with you to some extent, but can't you at least agree opened up it doesn't look great? For me I have long fingers and it made using the GBA SP hard going. Also the button placement isn't quite there for me what's with the white rings around the buttons? Looks odd, give them a shiner black look or something.. Only thing I agree with on there is that they should have included 3G, downloading on the go would have been good. I don't think bunging all that stuff in is the way forward, think how much it would cost...They are clearly trying to reposition the PSP to appeal to a new audience and adding all those things would likely put it the price beyond that of a casual audience. You said that a fully digital console is not the way forward or what was it said pie in the sky? I'm sorry but that really isn't the case, look at the iphone (yes a different beast) but its totally driven by downloads and if Sony can tap into this then they are on to a winner. In the Qore episode they mentioned about offering smaller products etc...sounds very much like the App Store, this is something so far Nintendo havn't really offered with the DSi their offerings so far have been lacklustre if you ask me. No Different to Nintendo's constant regurgitating of the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance and DS for that matter...

http://www.destructoid.com/qore-leak-reveals-first-psp-go-images-update--134053.phtml#ext Another version of the leaked Qore episode...sound is slight out of sync tho, the other video link from youtube has been taken down though.

I'm up to Don Flamenco as well...My first punch out as well...I used the motion controls for the first tour but soon got bored of them tbh and my shoulder started hurting (long term injury finally got physio for it on tuesday woot!) so went to the standard wiimote controls and think it feels that little bit tighter. My recond of KO's is horrendous, I think you have to be on the ball constantly cos a few missed dodges and you can be fucked right over.

AWESOME! Justice surely done...Susan Boyle didn't win...I loved Stavros Flatley but like he said in the press they weren't talented Diversity are sheer class though...
-
It is a big question...I have a ton of UMD's, don't want to have to keep two PSPs to play them all...although to be honest I'm not a stickler for upgrading on hardware iterations I still have my original DS and the DSi hasn't had enough for me to me to upgrade yet and doubt this really will...I can still use my normal PSP and an SD to get all the other stuff and bluetooth really isn't going to add that much is it now? What I hate is how the internet seems to be wrecking so many of E3's surprises...not known a year like this where so much has leaked.
-
Well I think the PSP Go! pics are legit (bit annoying I only bought mine last year but anyway) look forward to them expanding the download service and hopefully means more titles will get on there thinking PS1 in particular.

What time GMT is Microsoft's conference tomorrow? Don't have a 360 but like to watch them all (will actually miss the other 2 because of work) and Microsoft often show 3rd party multiplatform titles with the idea that they are better on 360 cos of achievements and live etc...
