My girl will be picking this up as she's loved the two singles we've heard. Did they release any others?

Selection box! That's the one! Just got given a few more odds and ends -- Scrubs series 1 and 2! Saw 2 soundtrack, a couple of japanese zombie films, a few books on sassoon and graves and war stuff for my english craparama, a mug and a book called Snow Crash By someoneorother which, so far, is a cool read. Pretty certain my rubber chicken is still to come..

I think it's the whole customising thing that people like. The place is kind of scary, as it's staffed by middle-aged women who seem to believe that the bears are actually real.
-
It's easy; God is the cow, the universe is the milk.

Got me one of those boxes of assorted chocolate bars - for the life of me i can't remember what the right word for them is! Also a couple of books, a £50 note, some hundreds of mp3's :P, a scarf, pj's, socks, calendar, pan pipes, three dvd's, a watch, an alarm clock, some underarm spray, a naughty hanky, some glow-in-the-dark stars and a slap in the face. I've got a few more gifts to roll in, plus a birthday in several days time! And a book of sudoku. The best parts to my day included the stuffing, my girlfriend turning up, winning at monopoly and my walk in teh morning - where i saw a kid playing on his new bike, which raised a smile

Well i can't say i'm hugely experienced in this field -- but the only 'one night stand' i ever had is now knocking on 6 months - This thursday :P I think that so long as it isn't malicious in any way by either party and that both understand what they are doing, it can be fine -- but personally I believe that it's a smaller minded person who pursues short-term goals. It takes a bigger person to actually think about the consequences of any actions and to forgo such things.

Does anyone know these sites? They're basically prank sites, except they're harmless ones and damn fun. Improv Everywhere's tagline is We Cause Scenes, which is so true. This is the latest improv one, for a taste of their humour. The best ones on that site for me are the mp3 experiment, Circle Line Tours and the Best Gig Ever. Check 'em out! I'll bet you'll wish you were there. Cockeyed is similar in humour but maybe better known. they have several 'segments' to their site, How much is inside?, pranks, science club and more stiff. You can spent a lot of spare time hanging out here reading up - but doing so will sort of numb your reactions.. But yeah, bookmark these and check up frequently. Some of you may already have known these, but yeah. They're fun! What else is there?

Falling Down is awesome. If Half-Life was ever made into a film then Michael Douglas should play Freeman... That is, 1990's Douglas. ANYWAY. Ash, you ask for other Noir's? Well i'm no good at thinking on the spot, but I am thinking of a comedy noir that isn't contemporary at all -- Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid which has Steve Martin in and isn't too shabby. But again, L.A. Cnfidential if you haven't seen that as it's great. Another Kevin Spacey film! The guy's a legend. Big Lebowski is totally in teh vein of those private-eye stories too. .. But new recommendations? Hard to say :P things like Minority Report and Blade Runner could be considered, but I'm sure you've seen these already. Memento could be considered contemporary noir, but to be honest once you get over the gimmick the first time round it's not as good a movie. Matchstick Men - Check that out. It's about con artists and has Nick Cage in and Sam Rockwell Jr. and it's the movie which made me actually sit up and realise that Cage is actually a good actor. Great film. While i'm here... Young Frankenstein with Gene Wilder playing a distant relative of the famous Doctor. It's a nice comedy that anyone who's seen the original Frankenstein movies should watch. A couple of scorsese films have been mentioned (Goodfellas, Casino), I think After Hours is one worth seeing. Not the best film ever but weird enough to watch at least once. Taxi Driver is disturbing enough to see too - Ash that's for you if you've not seen it. Not so much Noir but it fits, I reckon. and of course Raging Bull, about the rise and fall of the boxer LaMotta, definately a film to see for anyone who wants to direct movies. That's it.

Donnie Brasco is awesome for a few reasons; gangsters, al pacino and johnny depp. These three reasons are usually enough to see any movie alone. It's based on a true story about a policeman going undercover to bring the mob down, and ending up sorta switching sides. French Connection is another cop true story thang, with gene hackman who is not a bad actor (ignoring the fact that he can't act anything besides a law figure), with a legendary chase scene and nice use of camera for the era. Also; The Firm and Unforgiven for further Hackman goodness. Chinatown, Roman Polanski is an odd guy, but a great director. This is a film Noir with ol' Jack Nicholson playing the gumshoe, except teh movie does not end up how they usually do. If you think it's no good then you're wrong. K? L.A. Confidential for further Noir excellence, SEE IT! One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest has been mentioned, but I loved it. Jack FTW! It's been mentioned in passing, but Cube is a cool little cult movie now, with an obligatory sequel and prequel already around (neither as good as the first film of course, but the prequel is worth seeing). If you like Saw then you should like Cube fo' sho'. Yes. Nothing here that isn't known already i'll admit- Like everyone else here I wish I'd kept a running list of the great movies I've seen. Oh well.

hmmm personally I disagree with moving this thread! Calling this a photography thread because it has photos in is like calling a church a museum because it's stained glass windows look kinda arty. Or something. Anyway I don't have any more photo's to show so I can't really complain!

welcome home n'stuff! My three months have consisted of being predicted ludicrously tasty grades at college, combined with the gradual degredation of my efforts at actually achieving them... I've been struggling to cope with my girl so far away -- having probably spent just as much time in Leeds the last 3 months as I have in Brighton. I've been to several uni lectures and was even put into a group project for a course my girl does (sadly I was 'away' the day of presentation... hehe). I've been dreaming about university life loads, mostly due to the proximity i'll be to Leeds and also the fact that I should be with Shorty there too. I also freak out frequently about whether i'll make the aforementioned groovy grades needed to get there... I've been getting away with not being sober at work, too. Which is fun if wreckless! I'm going to go back over this now and split the paragraphs up. There! My sister got married, my nan looks like she's burst into song during the photography sesh afters, I wore a suit, and YEAH. Cool beans. Been xmas shopping recently, got loads done but worked up a £30 debt and need an estimated £60 to finish off the gifts. Am currently freaking out about my exams coming up because I can't see myself doing much revision over the xmas holidays due to work and fun hogging the timetable. IDONE.

Yup, yup! Unforgiven - I hate westerns but this film is seriously good. Waking Life - how many times do i have to say this! Great basic philosophy movie with lots to talk about throughout and afterwards. Animated in a way that, unlike Sin City, doesn't get old after the first viewing. Catch Me If You Can - Good film! Everyone's seen it surely. Adaptation a 'clever' film that hsa a rubbish ending ON PURPOSE! The Constant Gardener depressing in it's realism, but a great telling of a story. American Beauty, but you'll have seen this. Any Steve Buscemi Film, pretty much. I've been impressed with all teh ones I've seen. Not really got any more movies but I feel like there are more on teh tip of my mind - I'll get back to you. hopefully with some more obscure titles so everyone is dead impressed.

.. aah. Is this the place I come to try to cheer someone else up by making myself feel worse? Because I don't want to go there. The great thing about depression is that once you've hit rock bottom, the only ways you can go are either up - or just sort of sideways for a while, but eventually you're bound to go up for some air, even if it is a choker of a chance. You have to ask yourself; What is life to me? Is it sex, money, power? Happiness? You have to find your own answers for what you actually want in your time here, and then you have to face facts and look at reality. For me, Life is about experiencing. We've been given a range of emotions and you at least can be thankful for experiencing a lot more than some people. You are leading a more diverse and thus richer life than people who get it easy all the time, and you are far more capable of appreciating anything remotely good in your life. You have a lot less of a need to take things for granted when you know just how easy it is to lose them. Time's an old mean bastard, but he has to pass on eventually. Just hang tight and you'll come into better days. "you'll never find it if you're looking for it", says me pal Bert. So quit looking at the other side of the fence and start watering your own lawn, if you get me. Ahem. Yeah. Chin Up Emo Kid!

Meeeeemories. These aren't actually from my phone but I took them. AAW! *giggles*

My view on these matters is fairly simple. It doesn't matter about teh situation, or teh consequences, the act itself is morally wrong. Sure, she's wrong too, but she wouldn't have been if you had resisted. It's because of you that she wronged. If her relationship is not right for her then who are you to do something about it? As a friend you should be confiding in her, sharing your opinions, not fucking her brains out. That's my stringent view. But i'm quite narrow-minded when it comes to things like this, really. Ever asked yourself 'would I fuck her (or him, or course) if I know I could get away with it guarenteed?' I think it's a bigger person who comes out of that question and says 'No'. But hey -- My views mean I think the same thing regardless of teh severity of teh actions. Truth be told, I don't care what you do. Just don't feel too upset if anything goes wrong in the future, or if the same thing happens to you one day.

.. I thought Marlon Brando was dead? Just done a check, apparantly it's stock footage of marlon or something. Weird.
-
.. We should team Up. You pay for my presents and I think of some for your friends!

relating to the Feeder thing; I had a bunch of mates who went to see them in Brighton, they played 4 songs then ended it as the singer dude lost his voice, so it's not because they didn't sell enough tickets. ON TOPIC.. What grinds my gears is people who ask you a question just so they can tell you their answer, for example; 'What grade did you get for this exam? Oh that's a shame, i got AN A AND ONE HUNDRED PERCENTAAAAH!'.. Bastards. Also, people who go 'lol i had this REALLY WEIRD and FUNNY dream last night!', i mean all dreams are weird, really. Especially when people tell me just after I've told tehm I'm currently studying dreams. Who's going to be the 'ironic' one, eh?

I like the struggle to think of a decent present for people - but not the struggle to afford them. I like wrapping presents too, but not being there when others open it - unless they really like it :P I have a list of 15 people to get things for this year, and i've made a very brief list of their names and possibilities... but no purchases yet! Aarrhg...

the absence of a border makes me cry :'( The word 'marshmellow' totally needs to be re-fonterised. 6/10. -
Yeah. Lock, Stock and Two smoking barrels should have one, except everyone is 20 years older so teh whole gangster heirarchy is NEW, consisting of the old characters. Just watched the film again yesterday y'see. Blast Corps - N64 game. Best. Game. EVERRRERERR. So fucking brilliant, thinking I had completed the game only to find i had over half of it to go is great when you love the game, but imagine when that happens four times. Your grin gets bigger EACH TIME. Without 9/11 i think there would've been way more cfhance of a sequel. George Orwell - 1984 Would like to know how the world would exist today. I guess it would be largely unchanged but I am always interested in anotehr point of view for teh same world. It's why games like Opposing Force and Blue Shift are such fun to play. Sporks! I want one with a knife edge. SO what do you think? What deserves a sequel?

I'm struggling to remember what album's came out this year that I've really been into... Mewithoutyou have just released a new album but I've only heard a couple of tracks and don't know what it's even called. I'll just plug an awesome album instead as my 'unearthed gem'; Brand New - Deja Entendu, genius lyrics that are personal to the writer. Instead of singing about how perfect a loved one is, the songs are about how flawed the writer is - and they're brutally honest about it. Two singers seems to be a standard thing these days, but Brand New pull it off well with songs you may have heard of like Sic Transit Gloria.. Glory Fades and The Quiet Things Noone Knows, as well as the rest of the fucking album that you probably haven't heard. Most people will like Okay I believe you, but my tommy gun don't for it's satirical look at the emo scene, and most people who have experienced a broken heart (or, in my case, live in fear of experiencing it) will need to hear The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot. My favourite song is I Will Play My Game Beneath The Spin Light which is about, to me, being reunited with a loved one after a long absence. SO YEAH. mewithoutyou, an emo-sounding name for a much heavier band. Their songs are literally screamed out, with lines such as it was january 1979, i saw an accident, i couldn't help but laugh (sic), you should get the gist of their songs. They're at the heavy-end of the rock spectrum, so i guess anyone who likes death metal or just metal in general should at least give their songs a brief listen. Sorry, i've totally steered around the point of this thread.

i likes teh blending, but two of the three fonts pester me for some reason. 8/10. and for DAN! 6/10 easy on the eyes some of the time -- the times you're blinking. No i jest! It's not too garish but bold enough to make my hairs stand up on end if i look at it long enough. As someone above said (miek?) the lines could be nicer. LOTSOFTYPE!
