  1. it's funny how anecdotal creative writing is, isn't it? How's about we all just throw five words down, ey? Catharsis, rumble, tricks, penitance, unsavoury
  2. Yah, you just told us :P We saw! You should but the non-bolded narration in between "shall we go in?" and "yes i think we should" and remove the bolded, and describe the way he says it to highlight the humour. Sorry i've not seen this before, and sorry I don't have much time right now to evaluate it so i'll just give you these two points for now, but I will get back to it when i can. In the future could you put a line break between each paragraph? it get's pretty tricky to read it when it seems non-stop like this!
  3. The whisky was clouded like dusk, but my heart was a quenchless bottle, ever eager to pump this destitute vinegar around my corpse of a body. "it's too late" "it's never, never too late, son." He preached. He always preached. The barrel's grave light, neither warning not to come closer nor daring us to leave it's vision burned shadows onto his face, highlighting that ugly beard of his, that knitted brow under his hood. He rubs his hole-ful gloves over the flames, too cold to notice them singeing his fingertips. "Lord knows as well as you 'bout that. Look at you, sippin' and belchin'. Is it too late to stop before the bottle empties? Your own fate is sittin' in a great wine cellar someplace, still capped and unopened, you just gotta find it." "Bullshit." I tried to get up but the wall that was leaning on me just refused to let me go. "The bottle empties itself."
  4. *points to happy new year thread and argues for similarity*
  5. Spent last night in a house with no furniture, carpet - nothing. Just a kettle and three spoons! 'Course teh six of us brought along plenty of booze and an mp3 player and speakers, and lots of cushions, and we sat and played 1000 Blank Cards, talked about Serious Business, and when the countdown came we partied some poppers, then went on a two-hour debate over hwo to split the world between us now that everyone else is dead. Came so very bloody close to not spending NYE with any mates - to me, xmas is family and new year's is friends. Had a fairly good festive holiday so far - just a few more hopeful days of joy then back to sheff - WOO can't wait for that either! AWESOME! ...
  6. lol Mundi. Sounds like they're completely uncoordinated. Keep battling them back! Take no shizzle.
  7. ^Ditto, dude. If this thread takes off at all, it'll be one of the more 'serious' attempts. Giveussomeworrrdds. Oh, and post more ffs. Agreed. Aimless; that'll be one of the rare 'serious' attempts at this thread, no doubt. Come back, give us some words and stick around
  8. ... Maan, this thread sucks. I don't remember voting the first time through, but I'd vote for superbad if I could now. I've not seen most of the films you've seen ReZ, but I disagree how you can rate films that you never want to see again 7+, films that you thought were just "ok". the 5 is there for a reason!
  9. I wanted to do it last time but wussed out, so I'll give it a spin this time
  10. I've added you on msn but I won't be on much until the 9th/10th. I've not logged into my world... you still sitting it?
  11. Having been out of work for over a year, I've pretty much forgotten any specific horrors (and believe me, tehre were many). One thing - Ashley and others may remember this from Woolies, I think Game et al are similar anyway - is when you have discs in cardboard cases in drawers, and you gotta find the right one and put them in the empty cases and whatnot. Well What happened ALL THE TIME was the customer would bring 20 DVDs and 15 CDs and wait for me to put all teh discs into their respected cases until they told me they brought the wrong case and actually wanted teh two-disc version, or the single not the album, or the album not the single, or the sequel, or the prequel, or an entirely different fucking thing altogether - and the bitching thing is that we had a lot of 'newer' stuff already in their cases in teh drawers, so I (because I was an eternal noob and could not keep up with what was still in the drawers and what was not) had to go through the drawers again to check see if we had what they wanted... Then I'd tell them that I was afraid they'd need to go and find the correct case, and they would stand there and refuse so I'd have to either go get them myself, get someone else to get them or get a manager over to sort it. Long explanation for a basic recurring annoyance. Other things just include customers asking me to get the massive ladder out to get the heavy items off of the top shelf, only to decide they want the one next to that once I've gotten it down, or customers who think I know how much everything in teh store is off the top of my head, or customers who "sneakily" try and steal stuff when i'm on teh doors. Usual stuff I guess. No specific tales!
  12. what's rentability?
  13. Mine's An artist's impression (i.e. Mirkan of Mode-7/irc 'fame') of me when I had blue hair. Shorty also got an avatar, approximately a year after me and probably nearly 3 years after he promised them... EDIT: Oh yeah, and Shorty did the background and the lettering
  14. I like to think it's like "1st". Jonst! not merely a Jonth, y'see. Happy bedrigglarrs hic hic hyaaa!
  15. Aight, assuming your name on there is warandchaos, it is done I've signed up for worlds 13 and 4, and no sign of any threats yet so I'll concentrate on those
  16. Borat Finally got to watch this film, and seriously I do not know how he got away with any of it. Didn't find it much more than titter-enducing, but the ending with Pamela Anderson was insane :P The frat boys on teh campervan thing probably did suffer a bit from editing, but ultimately the film is about laughing at Borat, not the americans (although many times you just think "what the HELL are they saying?!" Still, my face was inched a bit too close towards a grimace through too much of the film 6.7/10
  17. aight, here's the last two reports Quantity/losses: spearmen 200/10 swordsmen 200/10 axemen 100/5 scouts 7/0 Light cavalry 100/5 heavy cavalry 4/0 rams 34/2 catapaults 5/0 2nd report (more recent of the two) Quantity (no losses): Spearmen 424 swordsmen 338 axemen 351 scouts 14 light cavalry 180 heavy cavalry 4 rams 29 catapaults 4 .. just got enough money now to build 100 spear, swords and axemen. I can't log on too often to protect them though.
  18. The Number 23 Bit slow. nice idea, and it was good that for a change the family actually believed his paranoia, but ultimately predictable and contrived. 6/10 eXistenZ This movie's always had a small chunk of my heart to call it's own. Doesn't attempt to use as much current technical lingo like Hackers did (which I'll be re-watching in the next few days) and is the same length as #23 but passed a lot quicker, even if there were fewer set pieces than perhaps I would have liked. But you have to give it credit for the 'pastiche' on video games and all. Death to Realism! 7/10
  19. Well that wasn't a bad festive period! Xmas eve was my best ever - going to town from pub to pub as last orders were called, then getting some booze from an offlicence, then commandeering a boat on the shore and drinking away, ahoying a merry christmas to any passers by. then the four of us walked home singing and generally being rather jolly. Meant I didn't get up 'til nearly 11am on xmas day - latest uppage everr... And I was cooking xmas dinner this year! Me and my sister spent two hours in the kitchen doing all the shizzle and it wasn't too bad at all. Rather a nice experience for a change. Then we ate, and I settled down to drinking my night away, avoiding monopoly and watching rubbish TV. Boxing day I visitedmy dad and we found that we'd given each other nearly the same present (I gave him series 2 of Carnevale, he gave me series 1), went to a pizza place, then soon after I came home I had some mates come over so we played 1000 Blank Cards, poker and Niggly (unsure of real name...) while drinking again! I won'tlist my presents because quite frankly they were awful, but this was the first year I had absoutely no expectations, so I was not disappointed. Still, there's my birthday to come and I demand decency for that. NO MORE SOCKS FFS.
  20. AIGHT Well I'm going to leave this open for a little longer, perhaps until january the 10th. If there is very little action between now and then, however, then I shall be forced to close teh compo and announce a winner

  22. ok his name is g-slide, he has 1,724 points. Last time, he attacked with Quantity: 219 spearmen, 200 swordsmen, 141 axemen, 14 scouts, 61 light cavalry, 7 heavy, 12 rams, 8 catapaults. He attacks me regularly enough so that if I build up an army rather than my wall/hq again, he destroys the army. if I choose to strengthen my wall/hq, then they get battered back down to what tehy were. It's why I haven't gained any points at all in ages. Xmas might be a break - but it'll just mean he'll increase his army and keep going.
  23. First time in years I'm not out scrambling together some shitty presents, and wrrapping them in the last paper I could find in the bargain basement... But this year I'm sitting back, taking it easy. Was going to give blood but I have to stay home and look after me mum, so instead when the sister gets back I'll be tripping up to tescos and acquiring some mulled wine and cider! Waheey!
  24. "The favorite food of silverfish is any matter that contains starch or polysaccharides, such as dextrin in adhesives. These include glue, book bindings, paper, photos, sugar, hair, and dandruff. " Man, they have the worst diet ever. Take pity. Give them your pube trimmings.
  25. I like it too. But I'm starting to wonder if maybe there should just be a generic xmas movies thread?
