Logic would supersede; I was born deaf :| Boring bit; lost my ear-mould on the way to steph's place last november-or-so, so made do with one aid for night on 9 months, then lost that entire one in a cab on a rainy day about 8 weeks ago, and sheff hospital is ridiculously slow at sorting me the fuck out.

EEVIL: my response is, as the GP would say; "I was born, once."

My method is an amalgamation of several people's noted above. - half-to-3/4 a mug of rice - just about cover with boiling water - When the rice starts showing inverted-slalom 'pockets', take off heat, cover and steam. The last part I have a 'perfect rice' tuppaware set which steams it and drains it too. As for sauce/meat - a whole jar of sauce for a whole pack of beef is fine, and mostly just depends on how long you're simmering it for.

So now I know why my hours halved at work - they've hired another five people! It's nice that they think I'm a dab-old-hand, but as I've said before my lack of hearing aids really bollocks everything up. Bleeeeeeeh! Two days off now - just got to compose and send an email to 90 people tonight, consider chess club tomorrow night... And I suppose read for my lecture. Been burning, laterally, through the Dark Tower books. On the third one now. Housemate has the first 6, and i bought a copy of the 4th as that's where I plan on overtaking him! Mwahaha! Great stuff.

Despite my relegation position, I'm rather pleased with these results. Secret's win was cancelled out by dyson's loltastic loss, and with ell on 14 games and 20pts I could theoretically jump to 4th after friday, as I reckon Gaggle will beat secret. Three wins would surely guarentee my survival, but 7pts would probably do the trick, and 6 could be alright. Really it all relies on Ell being able to get any points at all from his remaining games. I guess it's a bit harsh to think he has no chance! :P

I know I'm not playing tomorrow, but again, could someone text me the top tier results? Not being able to now how my struggle is going will make work rather painful...

But... that'd lose half the joke!

Rez; I bought a book at waterstones the other day, only to find my housemate has a copy. Any idea how the points system works with the card? If I go in and say "ohshi-- don't have my card on me" they'll still take the book back, thus leaving the 40p, or whatever teh amount was, on my waterstones card?

Makes you wonder what accent they'll change it to in teh spanish version of the film in order to maintain the joke! Indian? Chinese?
-
Shhh, you're interrupting them.

Signed up last year but I don't think I even wrote a single word. I suppose I'll sign up and fail again this year. I'm sorely tempted to simply edit my shitty 10k story rather than do something entirely new.

Toy Story 3 looks like it'll be more great fun! I wasn't so keen on 2, but the reset-buzz looks like gold.
-
Bill Bailey, in brighton and in sheffield. Both great fun, but I'd not say he's the funniest comedian. Probably my most respected, though. How much are the tickets?
-
I'll probably do the same as you, skunky. Looks a bit clunky and repetitive and lacking in story, and it looks like it's going to have me shouting at the tv asking why can't I do this, instead?! a lot.

Ah, so you're a mercenary! How much do you charge?

I can't afford to do the pools :P My bet would basically be on all the away teams winning.

Proud of your handiwork, EEVIL? Well after work on saturday I was supposed to go out suited and booted to town, but i thought I was too tired so had a few cans with the housemates. Anyway it gets to around 4am and I'm having my goodnight cigarette, when a woman walking on the otherside of the road with a massive backpack shouts at me "excuse me, which way to the station?" I shout out a pardon, as I couldn't hear her, so she crosses, then also asks to use our loo. I let her, then we sat and had a smoke, she pulled some wine from a bag and drank with me, then we talked for a while, read my poetry, looked at her paintings. Found out she had stormed out of her 'girlfriend's' house. then it got cold and housemates went to bed so we went into my lounge, drank more, talked a lot, then walked to town at about 9am for a 'swift drink' before she got her train. On the way we went through a gap in a fence and took some photos by the river, sat in an old sofa, with balloons in teh stream. Basically, we went from pub to pub drinking, and eventually i got home at 8pm, completely exhausted. Still tired now. Braindead. A very strange day. Essentially made friends with a 41 year old lesbian.

Rate The Last TV Show You Saw (Spoiler Tags for Recent US Shows!)
jayseven replied to Slaggis's topic in General Chit Chat
I started it the day it aired, mecool2! About to watch Bored to Death e3 and the premiere of Three Rivers, which I know nothing about... Ok, just watched episode 3 of Bored to Death - The Case Of The Missing Screenplay, and this week was severely lacking something, probably, and most definitely ironically considering the episode title, I think it was the script. The presumably one-off characters of the psychiatrist and the director were pretty good fun, and hopefully they'll return, but in general the episode was an utter waste of time. Being only 25 mins long seems to confuse the show's intentions. But there were boobies, so it's alright. Three Rivers is shit. Don't watch it.- 3920 replies

A summer without the regime of university can make you feel stupid. I had the contrary routine; start the year good and confident, then slowly slip away into laziness and depression. I read a quote today that said depression is 'like anger, only without the enthusiasm'. I've always pictured gyms as places where people are fighting various demons, wearing down their own resistence to some change, or some element of their own being or other. It passes the time, at least. Uhhh... yeah. I have mild-to-frequent dreams of being a psychotherapist. I think I have a good ear, and I appreciate your life-coach comment, and hope it wasn't in jest or sarcasm! I think my ambition is masochistic, but that's another tape for another VCR.

Then while you're at home, compose an email and say it :P Are you just worried that you won't be able to meet the elevated expectations? Your tutors have been in 'the game' a while, and they aren't going to have unrealistic demands. While your 2nd year stuff may not end up being as flaunted as your previous efforts, they're still going to be improved, and better, and ultimately you surely want to have a career encircling these skills so these pressures on you are pretty much a test of your will, and I suppose it's better to go through it now rather than 5 years down teh line while working on something more commercial and, therefore, more important to someone. Well anyway I fear I'm losing sense - but I guess I just want to say that I think it's truly awesome that your work has garnered attention the way it has. If anything it'll provide an amusing anecdote for the future - something to pester strangers with when you're an old man drinking alone in the local. That you're not coasting along boastfully is a great sign in itself - it means you've not peaked too soon; that you have ability untapped yet. I'm mildly drunk and excessively positive about life right now. I will rub on you. Sexy style if need be.

Wes - I would say you should talk to a tutor/head of year and express some of these thoughts to them. They may stop the name-dropping or, even better, may remember this stress-out of yours when it comes to marking and maneuver appropriately. Maneuver is a great word.
