Nintendo don't want word of mouth advertising? Imagine if no one in a classroom owned a Wii U (actually a high probability :p), but then this kid comes in and says 'dudes, check out what I saw on youtube last night', whips his phone out, and the kids spend their entire lunchtime watching crazy Mario Maker levels... just as we did during the world championship. Yes they might not pick up a Wii U from it, but it gets the Nintendo name out there to new audiences and generations. Quite frankly Nintendo need all the good publicity they can get right now going into their next console.

Watched a bit of Starfox Adventures yesterday. Such a good looking game. It give the StarFox world a chance to shine and fill it with charm and character.

Does look fantastic fun! Also 2:00 mins in they show an original red yarn Yoshi

Do we know that for sure? Either way, some things should stay in the past. A polygonal visual style chosen for technical limitations should not be purposefully replicated. Also if that's what they're going for I don't think they've done it justice. It had it's own style, this game doesn't.

@Serebii, even if they improve the visuals, which I do tend to think they will do... the enemy and boss design just seems so totally uninspired! Everything seems to be these horrible little triangle space ships, or triangle spiders with triangle legs... the space cruisers are all square and blocky, so is the sky boss and the inside alien core. It's not really the visuals so much as horrible art design. The whole thing needs a visual overhaul.

'the 10 mins that followed the demo were most impressive action sequence in any game'

When you compare the space level of Zero to the equivalent in Assault, just what is going on with this game!?
-
The quality is so noticeably better now on all these latest figures.
-
I don't like how everything is blocky/made out of blocks, even the garden level. Comes across really cheap.

Watch this video, it's awesome

*waves goodbye to Project Guard and Project Giant Robot*

The guy switches car for the final race and gets on much better with it.

If they actually made this game look like a Dreamcast game, harkening it back to the time when the game perhaps should have originally come out, using those character models, and environments, in it's own weird way that would be just as cool. It would feel more like a Shenmue collection than having this huge gap and Shenmue III looking completely alien to the other two. The Kickstarter trailer gives an impression of this to an extent, but if it means we get the game for an affordable budget, just give me those Shenmue I & II assets, the same bad voice acting and make as many more games as you need to complete the story. It would feel like Shenmue. Where as a 'next-gen' Shenmue might just feel and look weird (which even that strange online Shenmue thing did).

^ So feel like playing Uncharted 3 again soon. Great game!

Just been watching some of Gametrailers twitch back. They mention Animal Crossing Amiibo Party basically using the 3DS games assets, and point to that as being a 'we need to make an Animal Crossing game using Amiibo, so let's make this quick budget game'. That game could have looked like the Mii Plaza! Budget is one thing that comes across massively in the Nintendo Direct. I mentioned it in the StarFox thread but I can't remember a time before when Nintendo were proud to show off a game so unpolished in it's presentation before. Starfox Animal Crossing Amiibo Party Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer Metroid Prime Federation Force Currently these all come across as titles where they seem to be happy for them to reach a certain standard of presentation and then they're done. Very un-Nintendo. Then you have Mario Tennis, probably the quickest and easiest Mario Sports game to make, let alone Nintendo sports game. Triforce Heroes... gives the impression of a quick multiplayer Zelda with a tacked on gimmick. And again, Paper Jam, just seems to be like reusing assets. I dunno, does it all just seem very budget this year, a little desperate, and maybe trying to cash in on things quickly?

@Hero\-of\-Time was gonna post this and ask if you'd seen it I watched the Gametrailers Sony Twitch stream back. Their reactions starting off with The Last Guardian were so good from start to finish. They loved the Sony press conference hard. Knowing what announcements were coming made it even better to watch their reactions and when they'd say things jokingly like 'now all we need is FFVII', 'now just Shenmue III :p', and they all happened! Such a great team. Huber and Matt's passion for Shenmue is insane, I've been watching some of the GT Shenmue II playthrough. Was so good too that Huber placed a bet on Shenmue and Kyle placed one on The Last Guardian for their E3 Final Bets.

Does look fantastic! love the gritty feel of it. It's got boost sound fx similar to F-Zero and the spin attack too. And those visuals! I rest my StarFox case @Serebii Stupid for Nintendo not to show some gameplay of this during the Direct.

Metroid Prime Wii U not likely to happen
Retro_Link replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Largely because Nintendo have a buck load of money, and a load of pissed off consumers who bought their console. If the Prime games aren't profitable, it's strange they went ahead and made a trilogy. The producer doesn't say they weren't profitable in that article, just that they cost a lot of money. -
Metroid Prime Wii U not likely to happen
Retro_Link replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Although it's hard to say whether the interviewer was using the term 'Metroid Prime game' in the broader sense to define the next console Metroid. Like one might say 'the next Mario Galaxy'. -
And seemingly the visuals and ideas for multiplayer haven't been updated since the Wii prototype phase either. I can see this working with the pointer controls better tbh.
-
Well, there we have it.
-
They're showing off the Animal Crossing Amiibo on Treehouse atm (unfortunately alongside the awful party game), but they are fantastic quality!
-
I know right! and there are probably some not on it too. I can't really afford to get into the PS4 atm, and it's not the best time for me personally either. I hope to jump in later in the year, maybe if there are some good deals going in the run up to Black Friday/Christmas.

That landmaster level does seem to look better than the rest... I mean it's still lacking art style but at least there are some particle effects going on. Hopefully the textures we see now in many cases are just placeholders.
