Huntelaar would be awesome at United, but I quite like the look of Van de Vaart. Although, any of three would be more than welcome. I think they could each fit in nicely as well.

It might have been in jest, but I did feel a tad bit offended by that, too. Ine is currently on crutches, I'm still looking for my teaching job, and due to the distance she would have to travel with these crutches, it just wasn't possible for us. I still have to cancel our reservations at the hotel we planned to stay at.

Aww, I'll let you off then, you lazy bugger.

Do you mean "elementary", or were you not going for the Dr. Watson thing? Just pointing out that whenever somebody claims it is there "dream" to play for a club, or that they're fans of a certain team, it doesn't entirely mean that it is the truth. Also, we talked about the news on the other page (and most of this one), so I'm just...a bit confused now as to why you pointed that out, heh.

There's been other stuff that I've read where he has said that he was a fan of United. Infact, here's something I've read today: http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/vv263/deanrolandthompson/benzinho2.jpg There's always one newspaper saying one thing, and another saying something which contradicts the other one. It's all a mess, so I tend to...not listen to players when they say it's their dream to play for a certain club. It just reminds me of all these Britain's Got Talent hopefuls who apparently have the dream to play at the Royal Variety Performance. Hmm, really?! Each of those are quality players, and I would also be happy if Fergie picked up any of these. But, if they do stay at Real Madrid, I do fear for them. It must be pretty strange there at the club right now, knowing that so many players are coming in. There's not enough room for everyone, is there?
-
Well, then that's one thing for her to work on maybe. Nevertheless, there's no denying how good she actually is. That reply was a bit rushed, but I'm watching the Hewitt/Roddick game, and it's so exciting. Two brilliant players, two sets a piece, and one will be through to the semi final against Andy Murray. I love Hewitt. Really have enjoyed his games this year. COME ONN!!!!

There will almost certainly be many 5-0s and 6-0s next season in favour of Real Madrid. Still, I still believe that teams win games and not individual efforts. You do get games which are affected by individual players, but how the whole team functions as a unit is more important. We had many games last season (during the clean-sheet run) where we looked superb as a unit. Then, it just started to crumble slightly, because some of the individual efforts were just not good enough, and we lost that ability to work as a team. If the players can combine talent with the ability to work hard and work as a team, then this Real Madrid team will be one to fear. Sometimes getting clattered after something like that is a good thing, to get rid of that fear of being hurt again. A lot of people still think Petr Cech is still a bit wary of getting stuck in, due to his accident. Sometimes the best way to overcome that fear is to confront it head on.
-
There are so many talented players who can score goals at their club. But, at the same time, is that going to make a functioning team, or a unit? Time will tell. That scar on his head is pretty horrific. Poor lad. Hope he's alright.

Yeah, just found out about this a few minutes ago. So, this brings Real Madrid's spending so far to: Raul Albiol - 15 million euros (about 12.8 million) Kaka - 59 million pounds. Ronaldo - 80 million pounds Benzema - 38 million euros. (about 32.6 million pounds) So, all together, we're talking in the region of 186 and a half (estimated) million pounds. So far. Care to comment, Mr. Platini and Mr. Blatter? Madness, I wonder who they'll go for next. It'll be very interesting to see how they manage to keep all these players happy next season. But, fuck...that's a brilliant squad of players to choose from.

Just out of curiosity, why did you pre-order this in the first place? From my memory, there has never been any indication of an online component to this game, including leaderboards.
-
The game has received higher scores from other places though, which suggest that it is definitely above average. A 4/10 suggests that it's below average, and it just generally goes against the other scores out there. On average, the game is rated around 7 or 8 out of 10.

Me and my Brother think Djokovic looks a lot like Tim Henman. At a glance, it really could be him, haha. Federer is an awesome play, and the trouble is that he is perhaps just "too good". Sometimes his games aren't the best to watch because his opponents just never get a look in. As the commentator's said "I haven't seen Federer sweat." The only players who ever push Federer are the top, top players. Everything else is just foreplay, imo. I know exactly what you mean about the Williams sisters. They are bigger girls, and they use that to their advantage massively. But then, everyone and anyone can be beaten. A lot of opponents fail mentally because they think these people can't be beaten, and so very few put these girls on the back foot. It's understandable, because these girls are good at what they do. But, everyone has a weakness, so its up to their opponents to just find that and exploit it.

Those pre-order bonuses, and the design for the Trilogy boxart look all so very sweet. This is what Prime deserves.

Yeah, there's no saying that the game won't be on the next Nintendo console. To be honest, it's very premature talk, I think. This game isn't finished yet, so I'd wait for that first before starting to worry.

The 6/8 player split-screen is a neat idea, but I dunno how it would work in practice. A lot of people find four player split-screen difficult (not me, I love it), so I dunno how 8 would work. It looks very raw, but if more work is done to it then this could be a nice little game.

A lot of the focus nowadays is on people trying to lose weight, but I think gaining weight can be hard for many people. It can be equally as troublesome as well. It was quite a big problem for me when I was younger, and it's only really starting to work in my favour now. Definitely try to vary what you eat. Cooking can be a fun task, as you know (hehe) so look at making fun things to eat involving that food we talked about. I'm into exercising more regularly now, and I go to the gym about 3-5 times a week, then do some exercises at home. To, trying to turn this moooosh into muscles [/Arnie], and the main thing is just to keep determined about it. Keep focused, and work towards your goal, and you'll achieve it.

They do have a different physique, but is that something that they personally can be blamed for? It would be similar to shouting at a player like Roger Federer for being too good or something, or too skillful. If the players have worked to allow themselves to have a big advantage over their opponent (whether its a good strong physique, good technical play, or pace) then they should be praised for that, I think. Questions should be asked of their opponents and why they can't match the same quality. There will always be questions asked over the women's game, imo. There was the controversy over the amount of prize money they'd receive compared to men, and now there is still the issue over how many games/sets that they play. It would be interesting to see how the girls would cope over 5 sets. But, to be honest, I think it would just create a bigger gulf between the top few players and the rest. Yes man, Dementieva is pretty awesome. She seems like a sweet girl. She's slow compared to the men, but as stev2604 says, she is more than decent against the women. Really you can only match the opponents you play against. So, if she had the ability to play against men more often, I have no doubt that she would up her game.

Unemployment, travelling and smoking thread. Apparently.

She could still obey the rules, as in she would still be wearing the uniform. The only difference would be her wearing something to cover her arms. If she could wear something underneath the t-shirt as well, I bet that would make her happy and wouldn't be too much of a problem. How can they say transport is not an issue? My friend at Uni was told that she would be taking part in a teaching placement at Robertsbridge, which is a place that she has never heard of, been to, or seen before. It was a paired placement, meaning she would be car sharing, so that part is fine. However, what the University didn't tell her was that the girl she would be car sharing with lived two hours away from her, by train. Not only that, but there would be an additional one hour spent driving in the car to get to the school! For four months (the time spent on that placement) my friend had to leave her house at quarter to five in the morning, to take a two hour train to meet up with her friend, who would then drive to the school. That was to get at school for around quarter past 8. A horrendous journey. I have huge respect to her for doing that. At the end of the placement, the school gave her a job, so she now works there. She's moved house with her boyfriend and they now both live much closer to the school. Funny how that story turns out, but that was a mammoth effort to get to that school. She probably spent around the same time traveling as she did working. Transport is a huge issue. Aw, at lead you got the interview. Sorry it didn't work out. Keep trying. Well done. Two jobs...many would kill for the one, haha. Well played. Another day, and no letters, emails or phone calls from any schools. I think our post is being funny in this area at the moment. I hope to God I hear something soon. Although, three new jobs have been added today for Primary school. So, going to print the application forms off and send them off in the next few days.- 562 replies

Whoooo! That's awesome. Well done. What I always used to find was that I just didn't have an appetite. Everyone around me would always eat more than me, but I just wasn't all that bothered about food. I was at University, and didn't go home for the summer holidays the one time. Instead, I stayed in Brighton and worked. Again, I didn't care about food, because I was too busy doing other things. I'd have a sandwich for break, and maybe something small when I got home, but I never felt hungry. I think I treated my body pretty badly to be honest. Then, I went home for Christmas. And, suddenly, I gained an appetite, I wanted to eat food. At uni, because I didn't have access to halal meat, I didn't usually buy any. Due to being skint, I didn't buy much fruit and veg. Really, I bought low cost food, never made good meals for myself or anything. Coupled with that, I was depressed because of personal goings-on in my life, and that just made me feel less bothered about things. Food was one of those things, I didn't see it as anything other than some energy to keep you through the day. At Christmas, I just decided I wanted to treat my body better. I started eating more meat, more fish, more fruit and more veg. Most of all, I was feeling happier about myself. I didn't notice the pounds going on, but I started to look a lot better. When I went back to uni, and when I met friends over Christmas, they knew I looked better and happier, but they didn't know exactly why. I'm not sure if there's any tips you can take from that. But, the one thing I would say is that willpower and determination are important. Look at Raining_Again. If you're happy doing what you're doing, then it makes things a lot easier. As you probably know, if you're totally against doing something, it makes actually doing it a million times harder. If I had to lose a stone now, I wouldn't feel happy doing that, so it would make the process a lot harder. Look at what you're doing and what you're eating. I think things are quite weird in my family, as we have three main meals a day: Breakfast, Dinner and Tea. A lot of the time, we have two hot meals, so we're always getting the energy into our bodies. It works for us, I think.

Those are good stats, but I'm not sure if that tackles made stat is entirely right. I've seen different numbers for some of these, but it still paints the same picture, so it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. He looks like he'll be a good winger for us. To be honest, we need players who can cross a good ball into the box. I'd like to look at stats which show how many goals United score from crosses, or how many we try to get into the box. We need someone who can work the flanks and work them well. Some to get behind defenders. Also, we need someone who will work hard and track back down the wings when they need to. If Valencia lives up to his promise, he should do well at United. I'm going to predict he'll be a quiet success. He won't take the world by storm, but he'll be effective in what he does. Sorta like how Carrick does, he does his job with little praise, and just gets on with it. Although, he is a winger, so I'm expecting him to show some flair along the way. About Benzema: He is young, and if he does come I hope Fergie will man-manage him will. I believe he has the ability to do that. I just really want to have an attacking force that work well together, but also work for the team. The Tevez saga got pretty nasty towards the end, imo.

I had a feeling he would be signing either yesterday or today, so I've been pretty much hammering Sky Sports News, the website and the BBC 606 forums in preparation. I'm happy to see him at United, and I've got a feeling he'll do well. Instantly, I know many people are going to compare him to Ronaldo, especially in terms of goals. It would be a bit unfair to do that, because the team aren't looking for someone to take his place. What I do think is good is that he can cross well, which I think will hopefully provide more for Rooney, Berbatov, and any other players in the box. I saw one stat the other week which showed how many tackles Ronaldo and Valencia had made in a season. Valencia had made something like 150, whereas Ronaldo had only made 15. When you're a goal down, or when the game is 0-0, you need all your players closing down and pressuring the opponent. Sometimes, it seemed as if we were playing with a man short, but hopefully Valencia can do a great job on the wing. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. Apparantly, Miralem Pjanic, who is a team-mate of Benzema's at Lyon says that a move is on the cards for him, but how accurate these reports are I do not know. I'd like to see him come, but who knows. There's a lot of talk about who would get the number 7 shirt, and it's a pretty big shirt to fill, imo. I just hope if Benzema does take it, that he lives up to it! For his sake! haha Also, Vassell: Can't believe the guy is still going. In the Premier League, too. However, if Benzema did come, I would be a bit dubious about what would happen regarding the strike-force for next season. Rooney, Berbatov and (potentially) Benzema would all want to start every game, and play the striker role. One would have to either be left out, or played in a different position, or all three could be played in a 4-3-3. The worry is, we just went through this trouble with Tevez. Do we need Benzema coming and the same problem occurring again? It all really depends on whether or not each of these three would be content with being on the bench for certain games. That is why players like Park, Fletcher, Anderson and Nani get my respect. Ideally, they want to play as many games as possible, and start as many as possible. But, they know that they may have to sit it out on the sides for a while. However, from what I know, none of these players moan about it. They come in, and do a good job, and then wait for the next game. Could Benzema cope with that? I don't know.

I saw that, too. She's got a good heart, that girl. The Williams sisters...there's just something not natural about them. They're really, really bluddy good tennis players. I want to see how they'd do against some of the men in singles games.

Thank you. That is true, without those special chairs, it would have been difficult for him to work. But, thinking about the girl, wouldn't it also be difficult for her to do her job if she is always conscious in her own mind of being looked at. The rules are there to be upheld, there's no doubt about it, but the rules are there to ensure that all staff are presentable to the public. You wouldn't want someone walking around in a tank-top serving customers (if the dress code doesn't allow that), because it wouldn't be giving a positive message to customers. She could still be presentable to the public and wear the cardigan. It's in-offensive clothing, in that it wouldn't cause particular offense to anyone. Wearing less clothes to show off skin might be offensive to some people, but I think wearing something just to cover her arms isn't too much to ask for. She could just show off her arms, but then we're back to the issue of her dealing with the emotional issues that come with her disability. Some people are comfortable showing off parts of their body, and others are not. She has a genuine reason for being uncomfortable, so what guarantee is there that she could do her job effectively if she is uncomfortable with the way she is being presented?- 562 replies
