This topic reminds me of a time where I was in an Irish pub with Ine, in Belgium. (The Irish are everywhere!) We spotted one of her friends there. Then, shortly afterwards we decided we were going home, so I went to hug her friend goodbye. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Ine motioning "noooo" so I stopped halfway and tried my best to turn my lunging hug into a handshake. I like hugging girls goodbye and handshaking the blokes. That's the way eet should be. I'm used to that over here. Although, on first impressions, it doesn't seem like that is the way things are done in other countries. When I'm teaching and the kid goes a good piece of work, I do the hand over the shoulder/on the back "heeeey you did really well" thing. I think in general, I'm fine with contact. I don't get weirded out when girls touch my arm or stuff, or with giving handshakes.

What order would you show your kids the Stars Wars saga in?
Fierce_LiNk replied to flameboy's topic in General Chit Chat
Seriously, I urge all you geeks/people out there to do the same. Once you've seen 1,2 and 3, you can't view the saga in the same light as you could before. It's one of those things that can't be unseen. If you want to see how George Lucas absolutely destroys any mystery over the rise of Darth Vader, then by all means, watch the prequel trilogy. I wish somebody stopped me from watching the prequels. :p Also, you gain no positives from watching the prequels. The originals function perfectly fine by themselves. -

4,5 and 6 are great films. They're a huge part of the childhood of many people around the world today. 1,2 and 3 are abominations. All of them. I don't go for this "well, ep 3 was actually pretty good" rubbish, they were all bad. Terrible scripting, all style and no substance, and so many wooden acting scenes. "To me, the Jedi are eeevil!" I will never show 1,2 or 3 to my kids. -
I looove Ine's accent. However, I'm almighty disappointed that she didn't use several of her trademark words, such as "snack" or "stuff" or "candies" or even "yummy foood." I definitely here the Dutch-ness during snack and stuff. "Do you want a schnack, Jeem?" Its very soft. Flemish has got a nice sound to it. Very easy on the ears, like really good music. I've got a few Dutch friends, and their accents tend to be quite a bit harsher.

This whole situation is awful. As much as I dislike Liverpool, you don't want to see a team go through this kind of melodrama. Football should live or die on the field, but there is so much emphasis placed on owners and boardsmen these days. The scary thing is that so many teams are being run by these "tycoons", so this could happy to anyone. No team is safe. I find it very disrespectful how these owners are turning a prestigious club (treasure this moment Liverpool fans, I'm not going to praise you again this season ) like Liverpool into a media farce and a money-squandering joke.

If you bought some cheap pasta, and some jars of sauce, and then some cheap meat (like others have mentioned) you could have spaghetti bolognese for a whole week or something. Cheap and it would keep you going forever. Learning how to properly cook will save you a fortune. At uni, I squandered so much in the first few years because I couldn't cook for shit. Now, I buy a few ingredients/bits and bobs and can make a few things out of that. There was one point where I had 15 quid to last me a week until I got paid, so I bought myself some bread and tins of beans...thats all I had for a week. I weighed 9 and a half stone at the time.

That's partly why I don't like it. All these reality tv shows and chat shows of this type just seem to thrust these idiots into the spot-light. I'm sick of idiots. It would be nice to have something insightful to watch and actually be proud of whats on television. ITV is mostly a joke these days.

The Glazers are crippling the club, just like Hicks and co are crippling Liverpool. Yes, we've won trophies whilst the Glazers have been here, but it's not really thanks to them. Its in spite of them. For example, if Liverpool win the league this season, it won't be down to their owners. They're taking money out of the club, they're not pouring it in. I really feel worried when I see the figures about how far into the red that United are in. Or how much they spend on interest payments whilst not taking anything significant off the actual loan itself. Its horrible for any football club to have to go through this and I feel sorry for the staff at these clubs, because ultimately its the staff, the fans and the players who suffer as a result of this. The owners will simply move on, and begin to devour their next "business."

I agree completely with this. I fucking love accents! In fact, half of the reason I'm with Ine is that the accent does it for me. An accent is part of your identity. Its part of who you are. You are Finnish, so we know English is not your first language. If there's a Finnish twang or style to it, that's good. People like this sorta thing.

That was a nice story. I don't think you invaded her privacy at all (not sure if you were suggesting that in your question at the end or just asking that to other people) she sounds like she needed the help. Maybe do what Jay said and check up on her if you can. Just to make sure she was alright. She probably was, but still. I'm proud of you.

When is it ok to start thinking about christmas?
Fierce_LiNk replied to Rummy's topic in General Chit Chat
My housemate bought me a Christmas Calender today. I did thank her, but also said What the hell, Woman. Its October. The Beginning of October. We ain't had Hallowe'en yet, or even Bonfire Night. Orr...November. Basically, I don't get into the mood until December. When I start playing Band Aid or hearing it on radio, then I feel in the mood. It was bluddy warm today. How can it be warm yet Christmassy? -
I used to get IDed quite frequently, although it doesn't seem to happen anymore. I somehow manage to get my drinks in pubs without being IDed. Although, if its a club, usually they ID everyone. I have one story which absolutely infuriated me, though. I was going out on the town with my old housemate who I lived with in the first year of Uni, for her birthday. She brought down two of her friends from back home, but one of them had left her ID back at home (in North Wales). So, we went out, queued for a club and expected not to get in. She could easily have been 15, or she could easily have been the right age to get in. Anyway, the bouncer speaks to her, asks her to produce ID, which she doesn't have. She spends a good five minutes pleading with the bouncer, before he lets her in. It comes to my turn to go in, and I get refused. I produce the ID, but apparantly my converse weren't smart enough for me to be let in. Absolutely fucking retarded considering I was in the exact same place earlier in the week, wearing the same shoes... Girls do get let off very lightly. I have to say, she had a very impressive pair of coconuts. Well, infact, they were watermelons. It was a shit situation. How could I compete with breasts?

I haven't bawled it out in a while, but I did cry when I was watching Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait. For some reason, that film seems to affect me, particularly:

Kirsten Dunst looks like she was woken up in the middle of the night by a bucket of piss being thrown over her head, in the rain. With some women, they have a sexy morning bed look. But, with Dunst, its definitely a bucket of piss. I had Tobey Maguire, too. "I'm Spiderman...I think...I'm trying to be...I think I'm him..." Get on with eeeet.

She also has a tail.

You fuck off. Stop this charade. Are you seriously saying you wouldn't want those teeth devouring every inch of your manhood? She's got a second set as well, you know. As well as 2 sets of hands. This is kinky as hell, and you know it. Don't fight this feeling, Dannymyboy.

There's only one Alien Queen. MILF.

I'll send you to Hull in a minute. Worse than hell. I just didn't like it. I was watching it with a room full of people saying "OH MY GAAWWWD MAN, ITS BLOWN MY MIND!" Didn't do anything for me. I wanted to like it, but couldn't help but feel disappointed.

I cried laughing at this. The best things I've ever read. I almost ran over a pigeon last week. It played Roulette with me and it won. I was coming around a bend to a long straight, and this pigeon casually just walked out into the road. I looked at it. It looked at me. Then, it kept looking, and I had to swerve at the last minute to drive around it. When I looked in my rear mirrow, it was still there, looking at me. Fuck you, pigeon!

You're going to hell for that. Absolute heresy. My most disappointing films would be...Alien Versus Predator and AVP:Requiem. The first one is passable, but still disappointing. The second is an abomination. Disgusting film. No positives whatsoever. I was also quite disappointed with American Beauty. Found it quite pretentious at the time. The second time I found it ok, but still dislike it very much. Terminator 3 has to be up there. Considering the two films that came before it, this is a disappointment in almost every way. Terrible scripting, lame action set-pieces, disjointed acting, bad casting for certain characters...I wish the film was unmade.

I can't stand that man. Horrible tackle. Also, to the Newcastle fans, I hope Ben Arfa is ok. Again, another horrible tackle. Can't believe De Jong stayed on the field after that. I was pissed off with the performance yesterday. Not the result, the actual team performance. Sunderland were the opposite of us, they harried, closed down time and time again, worked the ball a lot quicker and threaded in some nice balls into the box. On the other hand, United created fuck all in the first half. Owen and Macheda just didn't work up front together, there was no pace. Which brings us to another point, why drop Berbatov to the bench when he's the in-form player? Hernandez scored in midweek and looked great, so why not start him? Owen scored last week off the bench...so, maybe that's where he should have started. If Berba and Hernandez were on from the start, it possibly might have given us a bit more threat upfront. The plus side is that Rio is back, Anderson had a decent return game (league) and Vidic looked almost unbeatable. So, that was good. Seeing Liverpool lose at home to Blackpool made my day today, though. They're not even the best "Pool" in the league now. I'm on facebook and loving all these scouse tears.

I'm gonna lock you in a cupboard in a minute.

I was with my Dad in his car, listening to the radio, when I'm A Slave 4 U came on for the first time. Very uncomfortable moments for both of us, I imagine. Especially during the panting and "oooooaaaarrrrghhh" parts. Sounded hot as hell.
