  1. I got very, very lucky. But, I'm surprised we didn't create more chances. We had a good formation and there's a lot of creativity in that team. We played offensively, too. 3 chances to your 2 doesn't seem right in a game between the top 2. I'm impressed with how we started off very slowly before surging up the table. We should be well equipped for the middle league. I'll get relegated before you, as I think you'll have the stronger team in the long run.
  2. But surely that's part of the appeal of playing these older games? That's how the looked and sounded back then. Goldeneye may look quite square-ish now but there's a certain charm to it. As great as this Perfect Dark HD-boost looks, it doesn't look like the same game I played all those years ago. What I find slightly concerning as well is this idea that these games need to look "beautiful" by being upgraded to HD. It just feels a bit wrong in a way, that the game needs to look this way to be acceptable. I'm not totally comfortable with the idea of Nintendo sticking Wii-controls onto games either. In fact, one of my biggest gripes with them is that we were all craving a new Mario Tennis instead of having the GC one with tacked on controls. Rather than having a game with tacked on features years afterwards, surely it's always better to have one made with those features in mind? As you say, it's to make a quick buck. So, if there's money to be made there, no doubt Nintendo will try and do that. Same probably goes with the idea of HD collections. Surely an idea would be to have this on the VC, where you can decide whether to play the original version of the game, or the HD-version? Obviously for a higher price. Part of my point is that rather than spending the money advertising this, they could be spending it on advertising something else. But then, when I think about it, the 3DS's launch window line-up wasn't hugely exciting. So, Ocarina of Time really was the main thing to advertise. :/ Just for the record, I understand there's potentially a lot of money to be had in this and that there will be loads of fans who would be craving to play the classics in HD. If the right game comes along, such as the opportunity to play Ikaruga or some other rare games, then I'm totally happy with that. I feel this would be used best with games that are either really difficult to find (such as Ikaruga) or even ones which never made it here.
  3. Fuck yes! What a massive game and an even bigger result. 2-0. I got lucky with both goals, but winning the title at Ell's place just makes this victory even better. That's a fairytale! Even better considering that I spent absolutely nothing on my team this season and just went with what I had. I'm probably going to have to buy a goalkeeper seeing as how mine is getting on a bit, but otherwise I'm so happy with this team. Can't believe it...a trophy. Never would have dreamed this at the start of the season. Although this team is in its third season, I've enjoyed the challenges against experienced Xpert players, even if they have got new teams. It's been an amazing season. Good game, @Ellmeister
  4. Whether it's hard to pull off or not, it just seems really out of place. The rest of the game does require some skill and is a really interesting take on the football genre. These megastrikes just seem to take it away from that focus and making it about...something else. It's just not needed. I'm trying to think of an equivalent in Mario Kart.
  5. I'm just going to highlight the original opening post from James again. So, I'm basing this on me. I'm not talking about people who haven't experienced these games. They're free to do whatever they want. As far as I'm concerned, a HD-re-release of classics is so far down at the bottom of the list of things that needs addressing on Nintendo systems. Secondly, I'm going to argue that there already is a system in place for "new gamers" to experience "old games." It's called the Virtual Console. If these new gamers want to experience games such as Super Metroid, or A Link To The Past, then they can do it through there. That's where they should be. Thirdly, who does the marketing for these games, like Ocarina of Time 3D? If it's Nintendo, then I am going to argue that it's using their resources for something that is not necessarily needed.
  6. That second idea is what Batallion Wars is, right? It's a great game. Probably would be easier to play using the WiiU's Pad. That first idea is interesting. Sure would be a hell of a mind fuck. We need another type of racer on the Wii. I was hoping that ExciteTruck would set a precedent and there would be more racers of a similar type, considering that the controls were nailed so well. But, nobody bothered.
  7. That's going to be such a great final day. I don't think QPR will get anything from the City game, so it could well be in Bolton's hands. Wigan have another game to play, so we'll have to take into account what happens there. But, they should be ok. Blackburn away and Wolves at home. A point from one of these two games should do it. The problem is that Bolton's goal difference is much worse than Wigan's and QPR's. So, if Wigan do only gain a point (they'll probably get more) and QPR also get a point at City, then Bolton will need to win by about 10 goals to stay up.
  8. Ok, I'll have a go at this. 1. Nintendo reveal Zelda for 3DS using the style of Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. Wii Sports type game for the WiiU which utilises both the Upad and the Wiimote. A Mario Galaxy style platformer is revealed, but will not be Galaxy 3. There will be an online title from Nintendo themselves at launch to show they are serious about online gaming. New Metroid for 3DS 2. Nintendo show off a new Metroid game in the style of Prime for the WiiU, which will also be in the launch window. Pikmin 3 will be available at launch. Due to the popularity of Uprising, there will be a Kid Icarus game for the WiiU. F Zero is confirmed for the system and will be released next year. Montage of clips for this is shown. 3. List of titles for the WiiU Virtual Console gets revealed. Some of these titles will have HD upgrades whilst some will be straight ports.
  9. This really is a quality game. Very accessible. I'll have to put it on again soon and see if I'm any good at it. The only thing I dislike about the game is the multi-strike...goal..thing. Forgotten what it's called. It just seems like a cheap way to get extra goals, whereas the game seems much more fun without it.
  10. When I think of the Beastie Boys, I always remember listening to tunes like Intergalactic and Body Movin' when I was in High School. Great group and I love their sound. RIP. Cancer is horrible, I lost a good friend to it last year.
  11. I'm not too keen on these HD Collections. Don't really care if they handled elsewhere (as Ocarina of Time 3D was). They don't help the medium of gaming push forward, whereas new games will. We are starved of racers on Nintendo systems. We are starved of fighters, as all there is on the Wii is Brawl and Tatsunoko vs Capcom. We are starved of tactical strategy games such as Advance Wars, as there isn't anything like a Command and Conquer style game on the Wii, which I've been waiting a long time for. I would much rather we got those than a HD collection of games we've already played and love already. Ocarina of Time is brilliant, but I've played through it so many times that I know it better than my own family. Would I want to play that in HD? What about the games that never made it to our shores? There's a case for them. Obviously this is just my opinion and many will think differently. But, there are so many gaps on Nintendo systems...so many. Plugging them with HD re-releases is not the answer, I don't think. These are gaps that need filling with quality games in many genres, be it from Nintendo themselves or from a third party.
  12. Much better performance today against Swansea. Ashley Young had his best game in a United shirt for quite a while. Also, Valencia looked sharp (as did Carrick), he really should've started last week. We were never going to put 7 or 8 past Swansea because they defend too well for that. They're not easily turned over. Watched the City/Newcastle game, too. Well, bits of it at the gym. Yaya Toure is exactly what we need/needed and he runs that City midfield so well. They invested well in two brilliant players in Silva and Toure and it's paying off massively. His first goal was top class. Also, that Cech save yesterday kinda reminds me of David Seaman's save against Sheffield United, which is the best save I've ever seen.
  13. Not a fan of Kid Icarus or Resident Evil: Revelations?
  14. FUCK YES. Promotion guaranteed. DRAGOOOOOO'S GOING UP DRAGO,DRAGOOOOOO's GOING UP Flunk? Flunk you. Motherflunker! I aim to take maximum points from my last two games. The Mighty Dragooooo are almost contemplating sending out a reserve team against Elitechester City, as they are so certain of getting the points needed for the title.
  15. They have messed up in so many ways, but I disagree with you about the learning curve. I've been playing football games since I could crawl and have played a lot of the more recent Fifa and Pro Evo games. I didn't have a problem at all with the Wii controls on 2011. The tutorials that you get are very well explained and it never at all feels overwhelming. Yes, you will probably lose the first few games, but after that it's pretty simple and so very rewarding. Everything else you say, I agree with. I've seen no marketing at all for these games. They're just sent out to die.
  16. West Brom don't play poor football at all.
  17. Just going to pick you up on the bit about footie, @tapedeck . Pro Evo on the Wii (at least, 2011) is just far superior to play than the HD versions. It lacks the presentation features of its counterparts, but there are just so many passages of play that cannot be replicated on the other systems. You can have through balls and stuff, but the ability to control any player on the pitch at the same time as having another of your players controlling the ball is something else. For me, this is far more "next gen" than what I've played on the other systems. At least, it's far superior to any of the latest Fifa releases, which have been dreadful.
  18. 1 Moooonth. So excited. I am not missing this film for anything.
  19. Dragooooo are scared of nobody. Dragooooo tried to do the honourable thing and pull out (Dragooooo has experience of this) to help the competition. But, if you want a severe beating, then Dragooooooooo will inflict this upon you. Twice. DRAGOOOOOOO. So happy with today's result. My work internet wasn't working so I was trying to find ways to find out the score. Ended up using my phone's outdated shitty internet, but couldn't log on. So, had to do a google search and it ultimately took me to the result. Can't believe one of my defenders got red carded. 3 red cards this season, three fucking defenders. Still, what a match. Either team could have won it. I only another victory will guarantee me promotion to the middle league. I need to win pretty much all my games to go through as Champion. AC Elites just keep on winning...only one point in it.
  20. If we're going to play 4-5-1, you need control in midfield. but, you also need pace when you break out in order to start counter-attacks. Valencia really needed to be playing instead of Giggs/Park. Playing Park was a gamble that didn't pay off. At least 4-4-2 would have given us more of an outlet up top, instead of Rooney who was isolated. He had no support for the majority of the match. Looking at the bench, why have three strikers on there? This really emphasises how weak the central midfield is. There's no way in hell we would have brought on all three, especially as Berbatov hasn't been playing. So, it was between Hernandez and Welbeck. Just little things like this. Didn't know about the Jonny Evans thing, so will hold my hands up for that. But, why wasn't Ferdinand marking Kompany instead of Smalling? He's the leader, he should've been taking charge of that one. I know it won't happen, but I'd be very tempted to drop the entire first 11 after a performance like that. But, we won't do that, and these will get away with it again. At times this season, we have played absolutely crap. We played a central defender at right back because we haven't sorted out this position for so long. We had to bring our midfielder out of retirement to even get into this position. Just...the whole thing needs a fucking look at. There are no positives from tonight. They should be ashamed after the performances lately and letting this one slip.
  21. Could be, then. It's more the midfield I have issue with and that is where we lost the game tonight. You cannot drop in-form players like Valencia. You wouldn't bench Rooney in such a game, so why would you bench one of the players who has done so much this season. It was such a poor decision. Vidic there might have made a difference, but every team has injuries and it's not an excuse for me. You have to make do with what you got and there are more than enough talented players out there who have just thrown the title away. We haven't just done it in this game, but for so many this season, and two recent games in particular: Wigan away and Everton at home. This was just the icing on the cake. I don't think I can remember a time when we put in such a poor team selection and performance in such a big game. We were so lazy on the ball and made so many mistakes. Too many stray passes, not picking up runners, not moving the ball quickly enough, not finding the right gaps and spaces. I would've started with Nani still, but put him on the opposite side with Valencia on the right. That's all we would have needed to do. Keep Scholes in midfield, and maybe bring Cleverley on in the second half. Welbeck has been pretty great and he shouldn't have been benched either. He's got power and makes things happen. Yes, he misses some chances, but he also creates, too. Everton at home showed this. The midfield behind the strikers were at fault for the lack of chances created because they didn't win the ball.
  22. If that's the case, then I can let that one slide. I've not heard anything about the injury though and he seemed fine after the Everton game. Even still, that's only one on a very long list. Playing Giggs and Scholes in the same midfield is asking for trouble. I've said this for so long. You either play one or the other. Playing both = no pace. Especially as Carrick isn't that pacey either. Yaya Toure just waltzed through the game.
  23. Terrible. Dreadful. I'm so angry at so many things. We made so many mistakes before we even kicked a ball, and some even worse ones during the game. First off, Park? Why? He's hardly touched a ball this season. Secondly, why change Evans for Smalling and disrupt the centreback partnership again? Yes, the result and performance against Everton was bad, but the defending as a team was poor. Rafael was more to blame than Evans for any of the goals we conceded. 4-5-1? Ok, I can understand this to some extent, but we have played 4-4-fucking-two for most of the season. Why disrupt our own game? We have played better in attack than defence, so why go 4-5-1 and put so much pressure on the midfield, which consists of Park (who has hardly played), and the slow Giggs and Scholes? Finally, this is unfor-fucking-givable. Unforgivable. No Valencia. Terrible decision and it backfired on us terribly. He is one of our in-form players and is one of the reasons why we have looked good going forward. Taking him off was a poor decision and it allowed the City attack to have a go down that flank, knowing they were up against the likes of Nani and Giggs, rather than Valencia who will put in some solid tackles. Worst decision of the lot. Even worse is the attitude of the players. We created nothing. We gave the ball away and even did this from throw-ins. I can't think of a single good cross we put in tonight. There were no runs from midfield and nobody was having a go, even at 1-0 down. What's more, we left it far, far too late to bring Valencia on, and we sacrificed the wrong player in doing so. Why take off Scholes and push Giggs to the middle. Giggs is one of my favourite United players of all time, he was my hero as a kid (one of them), but he cannot play effectively in the centre, at least not as well as Scholes. So, why push him there? It left us far too open and City had many more attacks after we did this. Just...so angry at our tactics, the performance and the total lack of desire from our players. Not only is it a derby game, this match has probably decided where the title is going. I said before the game that if the players weren't up for this, then they'll never be up for anything, and sadly this has been shown today. So many of them need to take a look at themselves and think about what it means to be in this team. There were no leaders on the pitch and nobody was dictating the play in our team (closest was probably Scholes). Going one-nil down, somebody needs to be there rallying the players and getting them together, but nobody bothered. Have to give credit to City (hate saying this), but they were mentally and physically better than us. All of them without exception. 1-0 is a very kind scoreline and we should have conceded many more.
  24. I don't mind withdrawing if it makes numbers easier. Dragooooo are very good at pulling out. HUUUUUU!
  25. As I said, if he does become manager, then I'll back him to do the job. It's almost certain now. I just hope for his sake that the media don't turn on him too quickly, as he's quite a nice guy. So fucking nervous. Just got home from work, showered, and am about to watch this. If City do win this and then go on to win the league, there could be massive repercussions afterwards. I'm hoping we go there and put in a strong performance, whatever happens. If the players aren't up for it tonight, then they never will be. Hope we destroy them.
