The Dark Knight Rises (Spoilers inside, enter at own risk)
Fierce_LiNk replied to Retro_Link's topic in General Chit Chat
Really enjoyed watching both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight yesterday. That opening scene at the bank in the Dark Knight is just so brilliantly done. The performances of the villains are outstanding in both films. Liam Neeson really nailed his role, and we all know about how Heath Ledger made the Joker into something different and unique. I am convinced that we will be talking about his performance for decades to come. One thing which I paid more attention to this time (which you sometimes don't really take in on a home viewing) is the music. It really is spectacular in places, sets the tone nicely and adds to the film's moody atmosphere. I was almost on my feet cheering at the end of The Dark Knight. For a long time, I was convinced that Batman Begins was the better film, but yesterday was probably the first time where I thought the tide has turned and The Dark Knight nailed it. Both films are excellent. I really can't wait to see Rises. So excited. -

So excited about tonight. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight back to back at the cinema. Never saw Batman Begins on the big screen, so that should be nice. -
I popped into the HMV in Cardiff to check out any deals and noticed that they had that 3DSXL poster. It was tempting to wait for a staff member to walk nearby and point out the mistake to them, but I refrained in the end. :p What's even funnier is that they had the XL literally a few feet away on display. Clearly no second slidepad on there. I did find that the XL looked too big, particularly the screens. It just feels a bit strange, and its a bit too bulky for my liking. I did also look at the red 3DS and fell in love with it instantly. It all pretty much hangs on Monster Hunter 4 and whether that turns out to be great or not.

Xpert 11 Season 23: The highlight of the Summer
Fierce_LiNk replied to Haden's topic in General Chit Chat
Screw you! Rash? Chevanton is a beast. Just checked, he was the one who scored against you earlier in the season, in the one-nil DRAGOOOOO victory. Aw well, I'll just have to obliterate you next time, just as the mighty DRAGOOOOO did last season to seal their promotion status as league champions. You are such a Dijk-head, Ell. (A DRAGOOOOO reference to Wim Dijk, club legend and vice-captain of the DRAGOOOOOnians.) -
Another Toy Story would be great. But, the idea seems great on a "fantasy" level, a wishful thought, rather than a reality. I want to watch the original three and think "it's perfect, and I'm sad we'll never see anything more of this." It would feel weird to have another film with Buzz and Woody, when the third film just ended so right. Why drag it on when it doesn't need to be?

Funny enough, I watched an episode/part of an episode yesterday (the UK series) and didn't find it anywhere near as funny as I thought it was before. Can't really see it standing the test of time all that much.

I've decided that my goal now should be to lose some of this body fat. I'm pretty satisfied with how I've managed with my training this far, but now it's time to do something different. The ultimate goal would be to have visible abs. I've looked at my diet and have made cuts where I think it's relevant. Being a teacher means that you are always being offered cups of tea, chocolates, biscuits, cakes, etc. It will definitely test my willpower. Another thing is that I'm looking into this idea of supersets, to understand the benefits and hopefully shorten my working out time, but increasing the intensity. I've done some reading up on it and have just done some bicep/tricep work, where you do a bicep exercise and then a tricep one straight after it. So, barbell curls followed by skull crushers, for example. Arms feel like they want to die at the minute. :p

Xpert 11 Season 23: The highlight of the Summer
Fierce_LiNk replied to Haden's topic in General Chit Chat
Lol...you had one more chance than me. One! Plus, I was the away team, so you'd expect the home team to create more and have more of the ball. Also, you had a better defence than me according to the team stats, by 2 points. The midfield and striker stats were the same. I had the higher teamwork rating. Guess we'll have to settle for a draw. You have to admit, you getting a goal in the 92nd minute against 10 men is jammy as hell. -

Disappointed with the game against Ell. I predicted his formation, played offensively and led for virtually the whole game, up until the 92nd minute. I'm annoyed that my substitute striker got red carded within 7 mins of coming on. What pisses me off about this is that I set the "aggression" option as cautious. What a world of good that did! Meh. A point is good away from home, but I wanted three today. -
Have to agree with MadDog. The whole trial has been a farce. Everyone knew he would get off, anyway. I wonder if he wasn't English if the outcome would've been the same.

Xpert 11 Season 23: The highlight of the Summer

Won against Aqui1a 4-1. The midfield are on fire at the moment. There are 5 teams fighting to not get relegated. I play 3 of those 5 teams in my remaining games. Got AC next. I believe we can stay up if I can get results from the Elites, from the Submarines and then the Sixty Fourthers. I targeted roughly 7 wins at the start of the season, so it's looking like I'll need roughly that to stay up. It might even go to the final round of games. -
I'm about 7 episodes into Series 5 at the moment. I waited a long time to watch 5 after 4, and I think the break has helped a lot. My friend watched 5 pretty much immediately straight afterwards and didn't think much of it. I'm quite enjoying it. I've come to terms that we won't get another season as good as 4, so I'm just enjoying it for what it is.

Hmm, it would be a bit of an injustice I feel if Murray was to go through his career without winning a slam. I saw something interesting the other day which did make me think. Federer beat Mark Philippoussis, Nadal beat Mariano Puerta and Djokovic beat Tsonga to all win their first Grand Slam titles. If Murray had played any of these, his chances of winning would have been vastly higher. So, he's been unlucky in that respect. If he can get to the final and come up against somebody like Tsonga, he can do it. It's basically the same in football with the Champions League. If Barcelona get knocked out on the way there, it leaves anybody else with a chance.

I can't remember which film it was exactly, but it was something pretty recent where they showed both the Spiderman and The Dark Knight Rises trailers back to back. It's sad that we probably won't ever see a Spiderman film that is created, directed, acted and produced as well as Nolan's Batman films. One thing that Nolan seems to have nailed is the role of the villain. Whilst Rhys Ifans did a decent job, it just isn't up there with what we've seen in the Batman films. It would be great if we had a similar sort of calibre Spiderman film. Overall, I did enjoy it, but I have to agree with most of what @Shorty says. Particularly the crane scene. It doesn't fit in with the rest of the movie. There were definitely moments of greatness in this, and I enjoyed watching Garfield as Spiderman. With a little more refinement and time, it could have been even better.

I've got the golden Zelda WiiMote+, the official motion+ that came with Red Steel 2, and an unofficial Motion+. Not sure if this unofficial one is the same as in that image. At a first glance, the attachment looks identical to the official one. The only difference seems to be that its missing the Nintendo logo, and that it doesn't feel quite as "sturdy" when connecting it to the Wiimote and then a nunchuk to the other end of it. It doesn't seem as "tight" when connected to the Wiimote as the official one does. I played a brief bit of Red Steel 2 with it, just to give it a test. It played fine for the majority of the game, although I did find it seemed to go a bit weird on me during the main Wii Channels Menu. Had to disconnect it and reconnect it when the game loaded up. Seemed much like the official one, but there were times where it didn't seem as responsive to me. Could have been my mind playing tricks. The official Motion+ works fine for me. Haven't had any issues with it, except that you are definitely aware that it is an attachment to the controller, which means that there is a slight (but noticeable, imo) weight difference when your Motion+ is added, in comparison to when it is not. It kinda counteracts the streamlined appearance of the Wiimote, but if you can deal with that, then it's fine. Hasn't failed me yet. Although, I didn't use it for Zelda, but have used it for EA Grand Slam Tennis, Red Steel 2 and WiiSports Resort without any issues. Finally, you've got the WiiRemote+, with the Motion+ built in. I have to say, once I played Zelda using this remote, I struggled to go back and use the controller with the Motion+ attachment. The Zelda remote, or any others for that matter with it built in, are just better in many ways. The biggest and most noticeable difference is the appearance and weight. It feels light, and that makes a difference when playing games for a longer amount of time, such as Zelda. It comes at a price though, as it's much cheaper to buy an attachment than it is for the whole remote. The unofficial attachment will be the cheapest. But, I'd probably go for the official one, which should be reasonably priced. Pretty sure you'll be able to find a good deal somewhere. If you've got a bit of cash to spare, I'd be tempted to get the official remote+. There's also a good chance you'll be using it for a long time, such as with the WiiU, with games that support it.

Well, not every fan is like that. But, football is intended to stir up emotion. It's great that it gets people talking. Yes, there are fans who take it too far, the extremists who go out looking for fights and inciting violence. But, they are very much in the minority. The majority of the fans who will passionate about their team, as well as the sport itself. I'd be a complete liar if I said I didn't get irate or angry over the years with the game. But, you can't really feel the joy and euphoria of the game unless you feel those emotions, too. I wouldn't change it or the fans for anything. What would be the point of supporting a team if you felt nothing? Edit: Sorry if this post doesn't make sense in places. I'm cooking a lamb curry.

This is why I love the football in this country. Seeing you two go at it (in a non-bumsex way) makes me miss football. Also, I expect Verthongen to do well for Spurs.

The Dark Knight Rises (Spoilers inside, enter at own risk)

I need my Batman fix, so I've been watching episodes from The Animated Series online. Currently watching part II of Robin's Reckoning. Such a good series. Loved it as a kid. -
Hmm, there won't be any instant success for Spurs. It's clearly a new era for the club, so the fans and the board will have to be patient. Moutinho would be an excellent signing for Spurs, as would Lloris. The area they need to improve on is up front. Ade is a good striker and performed well for Spurs. But, they need another one, preferably two strikers. There will inevitably be points in the season where Ade (if he does sign) will go quiet, and that's when you look at bringing other players on to freshen it up. I'm not sure how much longer Defoe will be there, I feel his time may be coming to an end at the club, if not this season then possibly the next.

Saw this the night before last and really enjoyed it. There were one or two moments when I thought "fuck yes!", particularly:

I know who it was. I was actually reading up on this the other day, as well as seeing Xavier Malisse's tantrum from a few years back. (I love it when players lose their shit)

Yeah, and French. My Flemish/Dutch is getting better, so I should be fine with it. I've watched quite a lot of films there and had no problems yet. Plus, I'll have Ine as my translator if it does get difficult. -
Yeah...for every decision they've made, they make two dreadful ones. Ok, now I'm worried about the lack of online play. Still think it'll happen, as its the main series. But, you just never know with them.

The Dark Knight Rises (Spoilers inside, enter at own risk)
Fierce_LiNk replied to Retro_Link's topic in General Chit Chat
Yeah, some parts in The Dark Knight where Bale speaks at Batman are really difficult to make out. I've been a bit worried about this happening again in The Dark Knight Rises. I love Nolan's work, but sound is a bit of an issue for me in his films. It's not always clear what the characters are saying, and there's usually some sort of quiet or booming music in the background (even during the quieter scenes) which makes it even harder. I saw Inception in the cinema and it was a pain in the arse at times to listen to at certain points. Solution: I'm watching this in Belgium, when we're going to see Ine's family. Subtitles. Fucking God-send.
