Gentlemen's Mafia III - The Court of Miracles
Fierce_LiNk replied to Jonnas's topic in General Chit Chat
I'd be lying if I said you weren't pissing me off right now. Let's go back and see what happened shall we. Conversation went dead and this day HASN'T ENDED YET, WHY IS IT STILL GOOOING? So, I mentioned the people who hadn't seemed to give anything tangible. Fair questions, I might add, which @DuD backed me up on. Right, now that is important because I didn't ask you for everything. I asked you for something. I've mentioned things about myself that are useful to others (to prove that I am town), Animal is putting himself out there, as it Marca, DuD, etc. At this point, I was also certain it was me being nightkilled, but it would at least give the town something to look at over the next few days. This part is also important, because it's me essentially say "somebody else start asking questions, I'm done". Which, you can see is evident if you go back through the thread on the page. This was all said in reply to The Peeps. Not you, Rummy. I had already finished speaking to you about your role. Me outlining the pros and cons before speaking to Magnus Peterson about his role. I've underlined the important bit. Also, I stopped replying and pointing, as I did say "I'll shut up." Which I did. Meaning the so called "pressure" had stopped. At this point, YOU could have chosen to do nothing. YOU could have just let the conversation go over to somebody else or for the thread to go dead. This is what YOU did. Nothing is on my head. I asked for something. You initially relented, and there wasn't this tremendous so-called pressure. Nobody FORCED you to give your info, just like nobody FORCED me to give my info. You over-reacted and you've got another thing coming if you think I'm going to allow you to pin your misgivings on me. I asked you a legitimate question, to which you went completely overboard. Look at Diageo. People have asked him info and he hasn't thrown a paddy. He hasn't given EVERYTHING about himself. Yes, this is an indepth reply, but it warrants it because you have been unreasonable. -

Brah, you're going to make me weep with tears. This wasn't done to make you ultimately go kamikaze. Just some more discussion. (which I guess is what has happened) Anyway, I think the game is up with ReZ. Not really seeing much of a defence. -

I didn't say it was about Rummy. The point was that due to Sprout now being active, we were exploring a new avenue that had otherwise been unexplored. To this I would have said what I said in my previous post, which was: I totally understand why you wouldn't want to give away certain things. For example, it might draw suspicion onto you if you are town. But, the alternative is that you need to gain trust and I don't really see any reason to trust certain people yet. Well, that escalated quickly. You're being very over-dramatic and melodramatic. All we asked for was a target and maybe a bit of info. Nobody is asking you to reveal every aspect of your character. It was worth asking because you were seeing fit to pass judgement on others (you weren't the only one, I said this) and weren't really giving anything tangible of your own. The rest is you throwing a hissy fit. By all rights, this day should have been over anyway and we shouldn't be at this point. Fucking hell, Rummy. Nobody asked you for a full fucking reveal. This is just you throwing a hissy fit. Jesus, you whine like a mule. Anyway, sorry if you felt pressured, but if you go back and read it I'm sure you'll see that isn't what I was trying to do at all. And what do you know, suddenly people are out of the woodwork and talking. Who would have thought it. The game has opened up now. Based on your intel, I'm going to Vote: ReZ. -
Xpert 11 Season 27: We few, we happy few, we band of brothers

Right in the feels. -
Not sure if serious. Nintendo are strong at making platformers, because they've been doing it for decades. Not just groundbreaking platformers like Galaxy, but the evolutions of previous games, too. Super Mario Bros. 3 for example. Cheap and generic are not the words I would use to describe this game. It's very harsh, in my opinion. In fact, I'd say it's wrong. Well, some of the garbage you hear about what Retro are doing is implausible half the time. "Oh, they're working on F Zero!" "Oh, it's Starfox!" Where does this info come from? It's made out of thin air. Did I think Retro were working on DK? It doesn't shock me, because they did it on the Wii and were superb at it. They did Metroid Prime on the GC and nobody cried buckets when they did Metroid Prime 3. Nobody at the time moaned "oh, but they could be doing Starfox, F Zero, ICE CLIMBER (seriously, wtf now?)".

Honestly surprised that Retro making a DKC game has turned out to be negative news. Wow, people.

I seemed to enjoy that conference a lot more than some of you. :p What we need to get into the mindset of is that Nintendo do things a bit differently. Just because there's no Metroid now doesn't mean that there won't be one shown in 6 months time. Look at Donkey Kong. That's a pretty close release. What would be better? Showing that a year earlier and still releasing it on the same date, or revealing it closer to the date? I go for the latter. The highlights for me were Donkey Kong and X. X looks fucking beautiful and Donkey Kong...God....HNNNNNNNGGGGGGG! Anyway, it's common knowledge that Nintendo fans expect way too much. You can't have Christmas, your birthday, Easter and the fucking Armageddon all at once. -

Just to point out one more thing and then I'll shut up, I totally understand why you wouldn't want to give away certain things. For example, it might draw suspicion onto you if you are town. But, the alternative is that you need to gain trust and I don't really see any reason to trust certain people yet. @Magnus Peterson, you also mentioned a note earlier. Is that a note only one person can see? Also, just mentioning you because Sprout forgot to. -

Look at Sprout's post above. See, we've now got something extra to look at that we didn't have before. It allows us to start crossing off who we think is town and who could potentially be mafia. Plus, it gives us an indication of who might need investigating, protecting, etc. So, I don't really like it being referred to as "finding out for no reason" because there is a reason to it. To win the game. It may feel like myself and Animal are looking hard at information or people, but only because a lot of people haven't been incredibly forthcoming. We've had 2 townies dead, quite a bit of vague information which needs clarifying and some people just aren't saying anything at all. If the mafia kill again tonight, that will now be 3 townies. Will people stay just as silent then? -
There's usually one line of dialogue at a time, two at the most. There's not an awful lot to particularly focus on, unless you're maybe subbing it in a language you don't understand in order to learn that language, which would make your reading speed slower. Do you watch films in foreign languages, or are you put off then by having to focus?

NINTENDO @ E3: Towards Hype and Hyperboles
Fierce_LiNk replied to Fused King's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I have that Nintendo don't pay attention to this DRM/playing pre-owned games nonsense that MS and Sony are fighting about. I'd love it if it were just a simple ND with tons of games and plans for the future. My dream scenario would be: A Metroid for either the 3DS or WiiU More footage and info on X: Xenoblade sequel An F Zero or ExciteTruck/Bike game/Some racer that ISN'T Mario Kart A new IP or two Metroid is the main one. Give eet to meee. -
Saturday evening, with friends at the Empire Cinema at Tower Park. We're hopefully doing a bbq beforehand! My biggest fear right now is that I won't be well enough to see it. Don't do this to me, Jeebus.

Xpert 11 Season 27: We few, we happy few, we band of brothers
Fierce_LiNk replied to Haden's topic in General Chit Chat
I lost today's game and we didn't create as many chances as I would have liked, but it wasn't a complete whitewash. 4-2 away from home isn't a terrible score. I've been putting out competitve teams and my DVs are ok so far. 8 players are on 10+ already, including both keepers. So, I'm not too beat up about losing these games. I still expect us to go down, as our defence isn't tight enough and my strike force isn't particularly fearsome yet. -

If everyone had that mindset, nothing would get revealed and we would find out nothing. Slowly, we'd all get killed by mafia and we'd be lynching none of them because we had no info to go on. Fuck it, someone else can ask the questions. I'm bored. -
I think it's a fucking horrific idea and I don't like the path this is going down. I love how in a game like Smash Bros you can unlock extra fighters, extra stages and so on. It gives the single player depth. Not EVERYTHING should be online. Yes, it's awesome playing with your friends, but half the fun is finding new things and exploring everything within a game. How do you know the characters are going to be any good if you don't know much about them before you buy them? Your friend comes around and wants to play KI, they want to use a specific character and can't, because you haven't bought it. Does this apply to stages? I just don't like this model, not for fighters. You should pay once, have everything there for you and be given a spectacular single player (or even unlock things with a friend) and be able to get extra characters that way. It's sad that somehow this mindset is becoming old school. Another reason why I'm disliking where we're going with gaming.

Even just a target for night 1 or 2? Nobody is talking about pressure, but what am I curious about is what people have been doing so far. That's one way of looking at it, but if we can start narrowing down possibilities, it'll become evident who the mafia are. Plus, if one or two people do get nightkilled, as least it will give the rest some basis or starting point in which to continue their investigations. It just seems a bit of a cop out to say you're worried about the mafia. -
There has be to be a mistake with that one. So, one character and you have to pay for the rest? Is the initial game free then? What about stages? Do you get one stage and have to buy the rest?

Fierce_LiNk replied to Jonnas's topic in General Chit Chat
Right, I've gone through the thread and I've decided to look at one or two more avenues. @Magnus Peterson, you mentioned you prevented someone from reaching their target. What did this do exactly? Swap the targets? Role block? @Rummy, I've been through this thread and although you've spoken, you haven't actually said much. What did you do for night 1 and 2? Who were your targets? @Sprout, what did you do for Night 2? You've been quiet. @Tales, even if you didn't reach a target/do anything, can you give us any kind of info about yourself? It's an easy mafia ploy to say that "I didn't do anything" so early into the game, so anything really would help. @Cube, I don't seem to have much down for you either. Targets? @heroicjanitor, targets? -

It's temporary. I also believe that the person who did that wasn't Zell. I believe it was Sheikah. But I can't be certain yet. I'm going through the whole thread now page by page and will try to make sense of this. -

I'm avoiding nothing. If anybody is avoiding anything, it's those who are not posting. There were 3 people who targeted me that I know about, which I stated in my initial post. There are now, apparently, 5 according to Animal. He is one of the 5. The others are Jimbob, DuD, Sheikah and Zell. -

You'd need a few more defenders for that. Maybe the radical notion of playing 2 sweepers, who operate by going sideways across the pitch instead of forwards. -

I think you might be looking into things a bit much there. There's nothing in my role PM that mentions invisibility. I'm a conman, so you could argue that I could deceive others/trick them like I can with the votes. But, there's nothing that says others can trick or deceive me. So, I don't know what's going on there. I'm just going to go through this thread later and start to put things together. It's a bit of a mess and needs organising. I'll do that later. At the moment, we should back off and let somebody else have a go. If either one or both of us get nightkilled, we need somebody else to follow on from this. I think we've both said as much as we can say about ourselves and done as much digging as we can. It goes without saying, but some protection would be very much appreciated.
