I probably agree with you/this post the most in this thread. I have subtitles on for almost everything now. The things I don't have subtitles on for are things that don't supply them. It can be annoying, as I found out last night with Donnie Darko, particularly as there was a low "humming" background-music-thing going on during certain scenes. In our house, we used to sometimes put subtitles on for our Dad, who was deaf. Other time, they were supplied because it might have been some sort of asian tv show. Now, I watch films or tv shows either with English or Dutch subtitles. I don't generally see it as "having" to pay more attention, it can be there to supplement what's going on. It was a fucking godsend during Trainspotting, that's for sure...

Les Revenants/The Returned is starting on Channel 4 tonight. As it's a French television show with French actors, it will shown in French with English subtitles. On Channel 4's facebook page, there are a few people who seem to be bringing up the fact that certain British people do not like "reading their films". What's your opinion on subtitles? Personally, I've got no problems with them. I pretty much watch everything with subtitles on these days, and it's quite useful as you can sometimes mishear or not even hear things that are being said. But, it also doesn't bother me on foreign films. I had completely forgotten that Pan's Labyrinth was subtitled. Some seem to find it distracting. Some seem to not want to "have to read when watching a film". I find that odd, when there's usually lots of things happening on the screen anyway at times.

Gentlemen's Mafia III - The Court of Miracles
Fierce_LiNk replied to Jonnas's topic in General Chit Chat
True, although we have to keep in mind that we are an evil town. So, it wouldn't be surprising if there are some other powers out there that seem suspicious. This will make it harder to distinguish who is mafia and who is town. This is why we need more people to speak up. -

I don't think it matters if it's meant to be easier or not, since it would show up later anyway when Jonnas counts up the votes. IE, if I voted for you and Bob, my name would be shown twice. So, in that sense, it doesn't tricky anyone in the game itself, only the GameMaster (to allow myself to have two votes as opposed to one), if that makes sense. Also, that reminds me: Remove Vote: The Peeps, Remove Vote: Jimbob. I'm still dubious at Diageo, who now seems to have gone awfully quiet. Too many quiet people, although I understand that we've only had 2 nights so far. -
Xpert 11 Season 27: We few, we happy few, we band of brothers
Fierce_LiNk replied to Haden's topic in General Chit Chat
There's apparently some sort of offsetting that takes place, so if you play a stronger opponent you're form won't dramatically decrease if you lose. I don't know whether this is true or not, but it didn't help a great deal when I was in the Elite League. -
Had my haircut today. Trying to find a place in Westbourne to get it cut on a Sunday was a nightmare. Nobody displayed their opening hours online, nobody answered their phones, nobody had their own websites. In the end, I parked my car cheekily at the ASDA in Bournemouth and walked to this hairdressers' that I drove past the other day, apparently the only one open in Bournemouth on a Sunday. Walked in, completely empty. Had a conversation with the guy about the Alien films, Batman, Man of Steel, gym and had my haircut down in less than half an hour. Compare that to my regular place where the car parking charges in central Bournemouth are extortionate (about 3 quid for an hour) and where you can quite often wait for an hour and still not be seen (record is maybe 1 hour 30 mins so far). So, by comparison, it was easy and excellent today. The whole thing took less than an hour. Also, about the radio: British Radio sucks balls and I don't listen to it by choice. The best radio station I listen to is Studio Brussels, which plays a good range and mixture, and also doesn't have these fucking annoying presenters that we seem to idolise in this country, who spend more time doing gags than they do playing music.

Xpert 11 Season 27: We few, we happy few, we band of brothers

3-5-2. Vary it, brah. Three strikers, too. Although, I don't know if you'll end up staying up in the Elite League this season anyway (it's fucking hard), so I dunno, maybe just use it as a complete development season and save money on win bonuses and so on. I'd love another league between middle and Elite. -

No brah, I love your reaction because if our roles were reversed, I would have done the same. You are my greatest rival and I love pissing you off or you making me angry. IT DRIVES MEEE. If you have to do it for development, there are ways around it. Like playing 3-5-2, 4-3-3, 3-4-3 even. It makes you more unpredictable. I couldn't stick to one formation all of the time because I'm sure I would lose more games than I'd win, due to that predictability. Also, I only have three strikers now, as I believe that is the future. Four were so difficult to train. -

You're thinking of it in too much of a "flat" way. Defenders just defender, strikers just score and midfielders make up the part in the middle. It doesn't quite work that way. If you choose offensive or very offensive, what I've learned is that the whole team attacks. So, you tend to get more goals from midfield and defensive. What about corners, too? Or set pieces? Also, part of this is your own fault because you've rigidly stuck to 4-4-2 since I've known you to play the game/when I started with DRAGOOOOO. I remember playing 3-4-3 very offensive at home to your 4-4-2 defensive and ended up losing the game, when my team were in high form and going for the title on the very last day. It works both ways. 4-5-1 regularly beats 4-4-2 because it overthrows the midfield and stops the service to the strikers. The logic that "I have two strikers, he has one, so I should score more," does not hold much water at all. So, you'll find a lot of teams will play 4-5-1/3-5-2 against you because they automatically know you're going with 4-4-2 and they'll try to circumvent that. Why would they try to match it when they can beat it, and theoretically beat you with it? -
So excited.

Gentlemen's Mafia III - The Court of Miracles
Fierce_LiNk replied to Jonnas's topic in General Chit Chat
Of course it's going to sound sketchy. We are an evil town. If we sounded nice and shat out rainbows, we would be good and then ultimately mafia in this game. I think it's dangerous to use that mentality. Not trying to purposefully put suspicion on Eenuh, but she hasn't provided any info at all so far, like many others. I have no reason to trust her. -

Thank you. Vote: Jimbob What should happen, according to my role PM, is that both votes will now be counted as I've now "tricked" the GameMaster/Jonnas into accepting both. -

Absolutely. One request though, can you post a reply after I've given my first vote, because I don't know whether I can vote for two people at the same time, or if they have to be in separate posts. I'll give one vote to you, one vote to Jimbob, and will remove both when Jonnas gives the vote total. Vote: The Peeps -

He's got a fucking nerve to moan about defensive teams. He is the most defensive opponent I have ever come across. 4-5-1 is both offensive and defensive. You lack one striker up front, but you rely on getting more goals in midfield. I've won my last two games playing 4-5-1, purely because I get more goals from midfield. He's a Chelsea fan, he should know this. When was the last time they played 4-4-2? They don't. They play 4-5-1 (or varied into 4-3-3 when sometimes in attack, but Xpert isn't dynamic enough to allow this). Chelsea get goals from midfield with the likes of Mata, Hazard and Lampard. Not Torres. -

I'm essentially a conman, not a violent person or a thug. Hence why I can use my "charm" to find out information about people and can "trick" the GameMaster into accepting two votes. Ironic, given that I've been telling the truth the entire game. -
Happy Birthday, Dannyboy. Your country gave us this guy, so I will forever be grateful.

Gentlemen's Mafia III - The Court of Miracles

I believe that was part of Jonnas' intention, to make the town evil and dastardly, hence why I was given a double vote with a twist. -
Gentlemen's Mafia III - The Court of Miracles
Fierce_LiNk replied to Jonnas's topic in General Chit Chat
I didn't particularly want to reveal everything about my character, but as my hand has been forced, I have to. The tricking of the votes means that I can essentially "trick" the Gamesmaster (Jonnas) in this case to accepting two votes. I didn't plan on using this until later in the game (as I stated) because it would have drawn a lot of suspicion from the town thinking I was mafia, whilst simultaneously giving the mafia more of an incline to kill me, since I was in theory twice as powerful as any other townie. Here's how it works. Basically, let's say I want to vote you, Jimbob. I can say vote Jimbob, as usual. However, I also have the ability to either vote Jimbob again (if I wanted to) or I could even vote for another person. So, I could say vote DuD. I can change my vote or remove vote as usual, but if I don't, then both people get voted. So, in short, I can: - Vote for one person (as usual) - Double vote one person - Split my votes between 2 people. Anyway, from all of this, I imagine that Jimbob is person three who visited me last night, meaning you can identify people. Animal must either be person 1 or 2, which is either a role-blocker or he has another role which I'm not sure if he wants me to disclose. -
Get Colours! This reminds me of Colours a lot. Looks fantastic.

I spent the evening watching Belgium against Serbia. Fuck, De Bruyne and Courtois are awesome...Chelsea are going to have some side in the future. De Bruyne ran everything. He looks the business.

I had work today and an after school football club. It went a little like this. -Woke up fine. - Arrive at school. Still feel ok. - Greet class. No problems. - 9:00 slight headache. - 9:30 slight shiver. I decide to put my coat on. Despite everyone being warm. - Headache worsens. - Dizzy spells. - Arms and legs ache, as well as lower back pain. - Dinner time: I hardly eat as I can't keep my eyes open. - Free period. Head on desk. - 3:00. Told by staff that I should go home and rest. Afterschool club cancelled. Feelsverybadman.

That's sweet. On the other end of the scale: A teenager took a whiteboard pen and said he was drawing portraits for everyone. When it came to me, I received an image of a corner shop.

I'm willing to believe that you guys both targeted me. So, you would make up two out of the three that visited me last night. @Jimbob, what exactly did you find out? @Animal, same goes for you. -
Gentlemen's Mafia III - The Court of Miracles
Fierce_LiNk replied to Jonnas's topic in General Chit Chat
Ok, who did you target last night? Who can prove you are not a role blocker? As I don't believe anyone has (apologies if I am wrong), then that still puts you in the frame, especially as you say you "reached your target successfully". Also, seriously, quit it with the "JOO TARGETED NINTENDOHNUT!oneone" rubbish. I already said I targeted him when I DID NOT NEED TOOOOO. I could have sat there, said nothing and nobody would be any the wiser. In fact, if I were mafia, then heaping the pressure on myself would have been an incredibly stupid thing to do. As it happens, I am town, and I gave honest information. Finally, I wouldn't have tried to kill at all, because I don't have the capacity to do so. So, stop trying to imply that I might KILL AGAIN, because I haven't even killed the first time. Thank you for be leafing in me. Just want to point out once more that I have given out information freely, even though I could potentially have been killed (I won't win this game, I'm sure of it). At least this gets the balling rolling and we don't have another day of people not revealing anything.
