Trying to fit some game time in between Pokemon SS and Rune Factory (struggling to keep away from those two!), only a few hours into Fragile but it's already had an impact on me. It's incredibly beautiful, and very atmospheric. Probably too much so as I find myself nearly shitting myself every time I come across an enemy (seriously how scary are those bloody dogs!!), using the wii remote to alert you of upcoming enemies was a stroke of genius! I haven't found the combat to be so much of an issue, yes it's lacking depth and could really do with some kind of lock-on but it's no game breaker for me. Looking forward to many wonderful hours with this title!

I think I've just found my new all-time favourite game in the history of the world ever... Seriously, how awesome is this game? I've loved the Harvest Moon games since the SNES one, and this one is right up there with the N64 game, I love it! For years my dream game was a zelda spin-off in the vein of HM where you had to tend to Lon Lon Ranch, when this was announced it sounded like it could fulfill all my crop raising and monster battling needs. I'm so glad it's lived up to my expectations and I can't recommend it enough. Whether you're a fan of the HM games or not this is seriously one of the best Wii games available right now. The only downside is I just don't have enough time to play it! BUY THIS GAME.

Completed it this evening with 10:47 on the clock. I was really impressed by the end, fantastic graphics and soundtrack and once I got my head around the controls battling was pretty fun too. Just wish you had a bit longer to complete each of the miasma battle areas - always got down to one or two monsters and the bloody things disappeared on me!

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=389518 I can't believe this - CING, developers of LKS, Last Window and Another Code have gone bankrupt... Why can't Nintendo come and buy them, they're practically a second party dev anyway...
-
If you could do that and decide where your buildings were put this would have been my favoutite game ever! Here's hoping for a sequel!

Here's my tips for beating shishkebaboo posted earlier in the thread:
-
Publishers make their money when they ship stock through wholesale to a store. Shops themselves can then add what they want on top and that's their margin. When a game like LKS is heavily discounted it's the shop itself that loses out on each copy sold. But if they have had to discount something they're unlikely to re-purchase stock, so publishers (and therefore developers) lose out on repeat orders. That's why when possible I try and pre-order or buy early in a game's lifespan (especially if I want to support the devs efforts like LKS).

I did indeed! In fact I raised several over the course of the night!
-
That was an excellent tune! Although I loved the boss music for Long Sauvage I thought they missed a trick - they should have used 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' Well done Flameboy - I can't send you dutch ho's but I will raise a glass in your honour in the pub tonight!
-
Absolutely! One of the things I noticed was that it is very accessible no matter what level you are. And it's great to pick up and play for half an hour or so with mates.

Rumor: Devs already working on 'new Nintendo platform'
daftada replied to marcel's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Actually, developers do start looking ahead at next gen as soon as, and sometimes before, new hardware is revealed. When I was at Blitz games we were designing stuff about a year before PS3 and 360 were revealed to us (the unreleased zombie shit-fest Possesion). Just had to work to estimated specs is all. Ninja Theory started work before PS3 was announced too - they even had a column in Edge for a while, where they talked about the graphical capabilities they expected for this current gen. Ubisoft announced a couple of months ago that they are already looking at designing games for the next generation of consoles too. -
Games you remember for anything but the gameplay!

The original still stands in my memory. It was the first game I played on my brand new c64 back in xmas '91. Took ten minutes to start the thing, as it loaded you got to play a space invaders rip-off, then you were treated to the awesome theme tune played out via the sid chip, and to cap it off it had speech. Actual speech on a c64. Oh yes. Awesome. Even if it was incredibly digitised. "he slimed me..." -
I really want them to introduce a new stat - Intelligence. You could take your pokemon to a school to improve the stat and learn specific tactics. Then have special battles arenas where you just send out your team and they battle automatically. Pokemon with high stats would be more sensible using items/healing moves and would use moves appropriate to their opponents' type for instance. Just a little thought!

I loved the original FFCC for doing something completely different with the FF franchise, I think it still would have had criticism if it was just a standard JRPG. Shame Crystal Bearers is getting that kind of criticism, can't those reviewers just get over the fact it's not a traditional JRPG and review it on it's own merits??

I'm exactly the same when it comes to synthesisng items in games. Been the same in Dragon Quest 8, Star Ocean Till the end of time and this game. I glanced at faqs early on to see if there were any rare/one time items I should leave till the end. Philosopher's stone in DotNW seems to be one of the rarer items i've come across, and that's used for loads of good items. Still haven't decided how to use it. Did you see all the different locations available through katz quests? I was quite surprised how big some of them were.
-
Does anyone know if online stores like shopto and zavvi count towards elspa's sales charts? I'm sure a lot of hardcore wii owners would have known these two places were way cheaper than high street stores. Could have dented the chart hopes maybe?

No, don't let the thread die!! That's a really good time - I've just completed the Temple of Lightning with just over 30 hours on the clock! Granted I have been dawdling quite a bit, distracting myself with the Katz's sidequests (each 'dungeon' is worth playing through a couple of times, at least for levelling up or collecting rare synthesis items/monsters) and levelling up my monster team. I will probably playthrough this again, but may leave it a year before doing so like I did with the original ToS. I'd like to use some different monsters next time (been content to concentrate on my original wolf, a bear and a griffin this time round). I have really enjoyed the story, which is another big reason for me to return one day. My only real concerns so far have been with the lack of locations available through the game, I don't understand why you can't return to the town's you visited when you want to. Also, the graphics early on seemed really terrible compared to some of the later towns/dungeons. It nearly put me off playing it!

Really enjoying this so far, but really struggling on the final boss in arcade mode...Online seems really good, not had any issues with connection or people quitting when they lose (that put me off online SFIV...).

The next two years are gonna be great for wii-based RPG fans, what with this, Monado/Xenoblade, Tales of Graces, Arc Rise Fantasia, Fragile, Rune Factory: Frontier (if that counts?) and Dragon Quest X!

I love how this thread is helping to bring people under the LKS spell! It's great reading everyone's experiences with the game - keeps bringing back all those awesome memories I got playing through it.
-
Ta muchly! Was gonna pick this up anyway, and now you've saved me a tenner!

I meant I've enjoyed it as much as Vesperia. The nostalgia factor has helped me overlook some of the poorer elements (I do think DotNW has the better battle system though...), but I've definitely had as much fun playing through it so far.
-
I've just got through the temple of darkness, by far my favourite so far! Really getting into this - almost on a par with Vesperia.
-
I've got a few games to trade in at HMV, so I'll see if I can pick this up.
-
Hooray! This is one of my most anticipated titles for 2010!
