  1. Scariest moment will easily be my lamest choice, I just don't tend to play anything approaching scary games all that often, if ever. I'm going to go with the first time you face off against a banshee in Mass Effect 3. I hate it when enemies teleport closer to you, freaks me out and the things look terrifying a f.
  2. Surprising "please note" from Nintendo, but then again they tend to manage expectations pretty well and this is another example of that.
  3. Time I include this game-changing classic on my list, Best musical moment for me was any time you learn one of the temple songs in Ocarina of Time with Sheik. Those sequences were always so nicely shot and stick out in the mind, especially the extra musical flourishes that play in the cutscene afterwards (something that Majora's Mask skimped out on). Special shout out to the Bolero of Fire and Serenade of Water. I hope Zelda gets back to its musical routes in future instalments. Even its inclusion in Spirit Tracks was well done (if frustrating to actually perform ha).
  4. Assuming you've got the update the UI is better now, it used to be almost unusable. I got rid of all the homepage tiles so now it's all just 1 page, which improves it a bit.
  5. Yeah the controller's great, the Switch one is more comfortable I find but the Xbox has the much higher build quality. Not a fan of the loud clicking buttons though. Console itself looks slick a f too, love the minimalist look of it.
  6. Tomb Raider, Control and ME Andromeda are great shouts. For me, Favourite Ranged combat goes to Sunset Overdrive. I played this a year or two ago and had a brilliant time. It's always great when openworld games make traversal so much fun and this nailed that. I'm normally one of those stop or duck behind cover before using ranged weapons kind of guys but the way this game let you run around/grind while firing was great and so satisfying. Loved all the different weapons too. Then you throw in the animations and humour, and it makes my list
  7. Most Relaxing Navigation This one goes to Breath of the Wild for me. I don't think I fast-travelled once in my first hundred hours of that game, traversing that incredible openworld was just so much fun. I was a huge fan of the Deku leaf in The Wind Waker so I loved that they brought back the gliding mechanic. Climbing to the top of a tower, seeing something in the distance you wanted to investigate, gliding down, peaceful music, sound of nature all around you...
  8. Nice to see it get more love, the blend of 2D and 3D was masterful. I love how every 3D Mario game brings something different to the occasion, they all have their strengths for different reason.
  9. I spent hours just running around the Cap and Sand kingdoms, great fun.
  10. Never said it wasn't interesting to some people. Just that it was badly promoted and a misstep in terms of messaging.
  11. It's not important anyway, but plenty of articles and reaction were written how badly marketed it was. As a GDC talk, absolutely, devs will love that kind of thing. As a first official PS5 video? Definitely a mis-step, but one that really doesn't matter in the slightest now.
  12. 3D Platformer Controversial choice for me, the Galaxy games or Odyssey are typically considered the pinnacle of 3D platforming, and I couldn't argue too much, but I'm going with Super Mario 3D World. Much maligned at first by fans for what it wasn't (similar to The Wind Waker), the game ended up being just incredible, at least in my opinion. Lovely, cohesive visuals, everything was just so colourful and fun. The platforming was pitch perfect (something I felt was lacking Odyssey) with each level having its own brilliant concept. The Captain Toad levels spawned one of my favourite games ever, and the soundtrack was incredible. The whole thing was dripping with polish and charm. Would love to see Nintendo go back to this sort of obstacle course type 3D Mario at some point.
  13. There was tons of hype, after such a long period of silence from Sony people were hungry for PS5 details. I totally agree it's the public expecting far too much but these days it's sadly become necessary for these companies to manage expectations going in. Geoff Keighley is doing it pretty well whenever he says a reveal is coming, he tells people on what scale it is. Nintendo preface every Direct they do with how long it'll be and what will be shown etc. it's become really important, or you risk meltdowns (the fact that that Cerney thing has a 25% downvote on Youtube says it all about fan expectation). Fair enough it was back in March after all. Still a big misstep out the gate but they recovered pretty well with their games showcase. As for E3 itself, I was never one of these people clamouring for the "death of E3", I didn't really understand that, apart from a lot of gamers seeming to thrive on things failing for some reason. I'd love a return to the week of content, there'd be so much more focus and engagement.
  14. Not sure what you expect Furukawa to say to investors and shareholders, mobile gaming is the holy grail for them. All they're talking about here is how it drives people to the core of their business. No way would they publicly just announce they're stopping development. Insider reports have talked about the company moving away from it and releasing fewer games from now on.

Favourite villain/antagonist I'm going the Hard Mode route and so as I'm not being able to repeat games I've gone for a deeper cut than most "villains": Badeline from Celeste, in other words your own demons and insecurities. It's not so much a personal tale I can especially relate to, I just found her to be a great character, with a really well done story, all wrapped in such an incredible game. Madeline's interactions with her other half were really compelling and the boss fights and animations were top notch, especially having Badeline pop out of her character box at certain points Definitely a very memorable antagonist and easily one of my favourites.
  16. Not the video itself, although the fake audience was pretty funny, that was obviously meant for GDC which is fair enough for people interested in that. The trouble was in the way in was advertised by Sony. Calling it "The Road to PS5", it being the first official reveal, hyping it up a week in advance etc.
  17. Are you able to catalogue and then order Nook Mile stuff? I think it's just the Shopping items you can do that with but I could be wrong.
  18. Much better. Does that mean visitors on a Sunday now? They could still get some to double up, but this is better than the three guaranteed ones I think.
  19. I knew people who were bizarrely clamouring for the "death" of E3 one year would miss it as soon as it's gone. The alternative was never going to go smoothly from day 1, that much was obvious from Cerny's woeful and overhyped video opening proceedings. As for Ubisoft, they were really disappointing last year, so hope they step up their game. Looking forward to seeing Gods & Monsters and as usual will cross my fingers for Mario + Rabbids 2.
  20. Local Multiplayer I haven't played much local multiplayer in a while, so for me this has to go to Super Mario Kart. I think its battle mode has never been topped by any other entry. Future games tend to make the battle courses more complex but the simpler level design, deadly fast red and green shells + the feather made this the perfect local multiplayer game to me. Great memories playing the game with my older brother as a kid. I'm also a sucker for Mode 7 visuals and the sound effects and music are top notch.
  21. It's best to never assume anything with Nintendo, nor to listen to rumours of announcements inbound.
