  1. Went in with fairly low expectations and was still disappointed. Really poor showing, almost seemed a pointless one tbh. And no Ratchet or Horizon footage?? wtf. I was sure at least the former would get something. I swear Oddworld Soulstorm has been coming out for about five years now. Kena looks amazing at least. Almost too good to be true amazing! Another delay though :-(
  2. Just 100%'d Bowser's Fury, great fun! Really enjoyed that, much more than I thought I would. It genuinely felt like a full fledged (if much shorter) Mario game. Really interesting to see them shake things up again and experiment like this, the formula definitely works for a future game. I did think it was a bit weird that you could nab a cat shine, make the lighthouse glow, turn your back to it, then spin the camera around again and it would have gone back to being corrupted and new course elements would have magically appeared in that split second. That took a while to wrap my head around, so that would definitely need some work. But overall, had a great time.
  3. I'm happy to go with whatever you think is best! Thanks for the link, so start with episode 16 of season 2, got it! I really can't promise I'll stick with it, but will give it a try and see... ...At some point in the next 70 days
  4. 70 days to watch Clone Wars I guess
  5. Yeah maybe it comes down to taste, talking specifically about PS5 exclusives it's really just Ratchet and Horizon this whole year for me, but I'll definitely play Mass Effect and LEGO Star Wars. Hopefully Kena lives up to the hype, looking forward to seeing more of that tomorrow.
  6. A whole two new titles eh, take what we can get I guess! Hopefully one of them is a big AAA.
  7. Looking forward to seeing Horizon Forbidden West, be interesting to see how different that looks compared to the original. A gameplay trailer should happen given they're saying it's coming out this year. Hopefully it isn't another CG trailer. Also God of War footage for the same reasons as above, though obviously it's not actually coming out this year. Hopefully Kena looks good, there's nothing on PS5 for me until Ratchet. As for a big AAA reveal, trying to think what they have left... maybe Bloodborne 2? I assume there'll only be the one big game reveal, given it's too soon for Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch (not that that's stopped Sony in the past revealing things way too early)
  8. They'll find a way I'm sure!
  9. Because the current discussion is about how the same faults are appearing on the PS5 and how the parts are identical between all the console manufacturers. Some of us were just surprised that, given this new information, you don't hear it happen with the Pro controller or the Xbox very much.
  10. Yeah I've been using the same Pro for four years and never experienced drift. You never hear about it happening to the Pro or Xbox controllers. Could be down to different sized deadzones. Not sure if Sony offer a free fix like Nintendo do or if they've even acknowledged the issue yet.
  11. Great video from iFixit. The joy-con are obviously tiny handheld controllers, so I wasn't expecting the exact same issue to be on the much beefier PS5 one. “if a PS5 player used their console for two hours a day, they would technically exceed their controller’s operation life expectation within 7 months.” Oh dear.
  12. Didn't much enjoy the last episode of Wandavision, it wasn't bad, just pretty forgettable and the show seems to be petering out a bit now. I wish they hadn't pulled back the curtain quite so quickly.
  13. From what I remember I thought the bits outside the dungeon were great, the game kept getting referred to as having 'overworld dungeons', or more like no real barrier between the outside and the dungeon proper, in terms of puzzles. My main issue with the game was the disconnected overworld, having to level select each area from the sky. It seemed like a real step backwards for the series, but it did plenty of other things great obv.
  14. Be interesting to see what you think. I had a great time with the game at the time but can't say it sticks out in my mind as much as other Zeldas. It's also pretty much the polar opposite of BOTW, regardless how many connections Aonuma drew between the two. It's extremely linear, very story focused, and with much more living/breathing dungeons. Exploration is limited to specific locales you enter into, rather than being more connected and 'go anywhere'.
  15. Nintendo games get high marks, because they're in the vast majority of cases, quality titles. Not to mention that they don't release broken or buggy like most other AAA releases. If they're not good, they don't get high marks, Starfox Zero has a 69 on Metacritic. Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, a 58.
  16. Fanboys aren't exclusively a Nintendo thing. The 7/10 thing is fine example of Nintendo's games being over-scrutinised though, so I'm glad you brought that up. If 3D World + Bowser's Fury had released without Mario and just a generic character, would IGN really have given it 7? Doubtful.
  17. Exactly. If anything Zelda games get over-scrutinised. They're judged to a higher standard because the bar is set so high. The industry doesn't need three console makers making the exact same third person action games. A bit of variety, innovation and experimentation is a good thing and Skyward Sword should be praised for implementing something so unique at such a fundamental level. If people don't like it, there are 19 other Zelda games that do it differently. Personally I'd rather have Nintendo's core concept gameplay first approach to game design, than a lot of other devs spending so long on an 'interesting world' with an 'exciting story' and 'great characters'.......... and then having to "find the fun" at the very end. Case in point: Ghost of Tsushima. Personally speaking I enjoyed Skyward Sword a lot but not enough to buy it again. Yes there are flaws, but plenty it gets right too: Good story, nice visuals, fun puzzles, great dungeons. Balance!
  18. Finally started Bowser's Fury last night and I'm really enjoying it. It's much more fleshed out than I expected it to be, and it's interesting seeing Nintendo experiment with another type of Mario game. Took me a while to figure out how progression worked exactly and why the lighthouses kept going dark again. Weirdly the camera seems more cumbersome than I remember Odyssey's being but maybe that's just me, it's nothing major.
  19. Another timeline to add to the pile
  20. I think that in 2021, at this stage, this game looking as it does is pretty inexcusable to be honest. I expect these sorts of terrible, dated graphics from Pokemon games, but not a mainline Mario spin-off. And at least Pokemon games look charming. I genuinely don't understand how Mario Kart 8 and Mario 3D World can look so stunning, 7-8 years ago, on lesser hardware, and this looks like utter rubbish. I know it's Camelot and not an EPD game, but that's no excuse, if they can't develop for an HD system then Nintendo should give these games to someone who can. I'm sure the gameplay will be solid, hopefully the story mode will be a step up from Tennis Aces (but probably won't be), but it's hard not to be disappointed in this when the 3DS one looked 10x times better visually, and 100x more charming: I really think Nintendo games should steer clear from (semi) realistic visuals, if they don't have the development muscle/horsepower to achieve it. Really hope to be proven wrong by the time it comes out.
  21. Wow, an anime swords(wo)man, didn't see that coming.
  22. Or, crazy theory, Hollow Knight is one of my favourite games ever and I'm looking forward to the sequel a lot.
  23. I've this nagging suspicion that Nintendo will want to wait until Mario's 35th anniversary is up before talking about Zelda, and technically that finishes at the end of March. I don't think they care so much about the exact date, but I could be wrong. If it does show up I'm hoping for a new 2D Zelda, brand new, the last one we had was the amazing Link Between Worlds, but even that was a re-use of the ALTTP overworld. I'd love something brand new, they've done enough ports or remakes now. Wow, great title. Yes please, more Captain Toad would be very welcome, ridiculously charming and fun game.
