Great post, particularly the bit in bold. With OOT, the huge transformation to Hyrule over the 7 year period gave you a good sense of impending destruction, even if it wasn't as literal or obvious as in MM. With WW, Ganondorf's plans were a bit different, so you can excuse the Great Sea from seeming quite detached. His mission wasn't to take over and destroy the world, at least not at first, it was to capture Tetra/Zelda. One of the MAJOR failings of TP was that once the twilight disappeared, you were left wondering just what was Ganon/Zant's plan. You minced around from dungeon to dungeon, no sense of impending doom, no real sense that the citizens cared or knew that anything was wrong. You just had Ganon, who'd never even heard or met Link before the end, sitting in his chair, waiting. Not great. That would be why most people see TP's second half as weak, compared to the first half of the game and the rest of the 3D Zeldas.

The Hero of Time - The Legend of Zelda Fan Film
Ronnie replied to Dannyboy-the-Dane's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Couldn't they have dyed his eyebrows?? They go to all that trouble to create this very decent looking fan film, and not even bother to make Link actually look like he's meant to be blond? And couldn't the woman who played Impa... not have? -
Ho ho ho Merry Christmas all, hope you all have a great day!

I can't believe one of the finest games of all time, Mario Galaxy, is rotting so far down in the sales figures in Japan. Unbelievable.

Well said .

My post and your post aren't articles on a website published factually. No one "hates the game with a passion" FFS. Get over it and stop being such a drama queen. The common opinion online, and not just on this board, is that TP is the weakest of the 3D Zeldas.

A lot of those points are personal opinion. 2. Yes Aonuma could have had it so we keep rupees, arrows, bombs etc, but that takes away some of the challenge. Big deal. 3. I thought this was explained in-game? I don't remember the exact details, but it's something like the bank manager gives Link a stamp or a 'card' of some sort that says how much money he has in his account. The stamp or whatever it is goes back in time, so tricks the bank into thinking that's how much Link is owed. Something like that anyway. Regardless, it's no huge annoyance even if it wasn't explained. 4. The time limit is at the very core of what made Majora's Mask great, not to mention challenging. 5. It felt just as long as OOT. There was far more to do in between dungeons in MM, and five times as many sidequests.

Sky Crawler (New game from the Ace Combat Team)
Ronnie replied to pedrocasilva's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It really isn't -
Burger King cheeseburgers are disgusting. Burger King fries are disgusting and hollow. McDonalds wins on those and most counts. The Chicken Royale is nice from BK though, but again the Chicken Legend from McD beats it.

Why? You're holding it like a NES controller, retro SMB style. That's the whole point. The added buttons of a classic controller aren't needed.

It's one of Galaxy's best loved tracks.

Buoy Base was great. Can't pick a favourite galaxy though. Music wise, I love: Good Egg Galaxy (stunning), Gusty Garden, Buoy Base, Battlerock and the Bee galaxy. Megaleg's tune was also fantastic.

Change can be good and is definitely needed for future Zelda games (in moderation)... but I just hope they don't go crazy and radically change it so that it's unrecognisable as traditional Zelda.
-
That's more of a Sony thing to do. It's not really Nintendo's style.

Super Pario Mario on the Wii was amazing. Not played the others, but I hope for a sequel

I'm expecting a HUGE amount of backlash when it's unveiled at E3. As in far more than when Wind Waker was first shown.

Siiiiigh. You really need to stop being so wound up by people not liking TP as much as the other 3D Zeldas. Just chill-out. - again, get over it. No one hates it. No one suggested they hated it, or even hinted at the notion of hating it. Most in actual fact, loved it. I know I did. Just not as much as MM or OOT, or WW.
-
I'd agree with TP feeling bland. Ditto your arguments on castle town. Looked stunning, big disappointment.
-
Absolutely, take TP by itself, it's a wonderful game. Compared to the other 3D Zeldas though, it's not as good. At least in my (and apparently the majority of people's) opinion. TP also gets worse as the game goes along. The first half is far better than the second I thought. The last few dungeons and ending just felt rushed to me. And sidequests wise, it was the weakest, well apart from OOT.

Bit of a nothing quote and article, again. But at least they recognise the problems with TP
-
Who curses TP like it was the worst game ever made? Compared to the other 3 Zeldas it wasn't great. Certainly the weakest in terms of reviews and public reaction to it. You should get over this whole attitude of 'everyone hates TP but they'll soon come crawling back when the new Zelda comes out'. TP isn't as well loved because it isn't as good as the other three. Still an excellent game though. But in contrast with other Zeldas, 8.8 sounds about right.

I'll go along with The-chosen-one's and mcj metroid's lists as well. I'll add one more... 1. MAGIC. And I don't mean a magic meter. TP didn't have that magical touch. Wind Waker was full of it. I actually wouldn't mind a return to cel-shaded. Wind Waker is the most beautiful and visually stunning Zelda game in my opinion. I'd happily see what the Wii can do with that style. Mind you I did like the dark aspect of Majora's Mask. Get the epic storyline and qualities of OOT, the dark, twisted and different qualities of MM, the magic and freshness of WW and the, err.. maybe excellent dungeon locations from TP. Mix it all together and you should end up with Zelda Wii. (with an alterned gameplay mechanic that Aonuma keeps talking about)
-
Surely Madworld should be much higher in the list?
-
Aonuma has already said in a recent interview they want to change the "field > dungeon > item > boss" structure for Zelda Wii. I really think the method of transport will be a small deal compared with the big change to the gameplay mechanic. But going back to the flying thing, as Retro_Link suggested, Kid Icarus-style Link would be my best bet.
