Wii to 360 and PS3 is very different, they're totally different consoles. It's just the idea that there'll be an upgraded console out there, that really didn't need to happen, that Playstation will have released out of the blue. I just think it's a bit duplicitous and a poor way to treat your customers. For me personally, I would have just waited a year and got the new model had I known this was going to happen, but more generally it'll be annoying playing games, knowing there's an upgraded version of it in there. It just doesn't feel right. It's also a really bizarre thing for Sony to do, especially when they've got everyone on board this gen and the PS4 is well in the lead. So you call me a liar, then tell me not only should I have acknowledged and admitted the typo, but also that I should have stuck around and posted more, even though there was nothing else to talk about at that time. No more footage, no new info. And you say I treat you like shit? I don't check my notifications, and the frequency I visit threads is up to me. I stick around and debate in lots of threads, I'd even posted a number of times in that topic before mentioning the delay. Ok? Great. I used those exact words, erm, cool. I was suggesting the sentiment had been repeated over and over, not the exact word-for-word phrasing. I really don't have the time or motivation to scour the whole message board to prove something that I bring up (to deaf ears) every time, but sure, I won't mention it again until it happens again. They also said it about Nintendo not supporting the circle pad pro, not having an F-Zero game in ages, having the e-Shop run slowly, GBA games on the Wii U not 3DS, the 2DS reveal, Gamecube controller shortages... Now who's picking and choosing. Because A Link Between Worlds runs exactly the same on both consoles. Majora's Mask runs exactly the same. Mario 3D Land runs exactly the same and the new Kirby game will run exactly the same. One exclusive game and a SNES*virtual console doesn't stand up to the next four (?) years of improved graphics and resolution in every single game on the PS4K.

The new 3DS was released four years after the original, not two and a half to three and apart from Xenoblade and Hyrule Warriors Legends, games look exactly the same on both. The PS4K will have two modes for every game, original, and upgraded. Given the backlash out there at the moment about these PS4K leaks they may very well be planning something like that. I hope so anyway, that would certainly make up for things in my mind. The PS4K is a "fantastic way to treat their customers"? Do you honestly believe that? It's a fantastic way to treat customers who don't have a PS4, for sure. Everyone else, not so much. They'll confirm it at E3. The fine print and PR will be interesting. You call me a liar, because of one typo, and then complain that I'm treating you in a shitty way? I should "have the decency" to go back and correct this "lie"?? It was obvious to anyone reading my post that it was inaccurate. I hadn't been back in the Uncharted 4 thread until today when I've only just realised my typo. Next time someone makes an obvious error while typing like saying the release of Starfox is out in a couple of weeks instead of a couple of days, are you going to call them a liar as well? You're honestly telling me I'm the only person who said that? That sentiment has been said over the past year or so at least a dozen times. Want proof? Here you go... That's after a very quick search, there's probably far better examples out there. Yes they do. You posted people saying those exact words. I bring it up every time it happens. Apologies, I'm not about to spend even more time trawling through an entire message board looking for more examples. From now on I'll flag them up and PM them at a later date if you'd like.

No because I'm buying two separate devices that do two separate things. Glad to hear you won't buy the PS4.5, I hope you enjoy the next three or four years knowing the games you're playing could look much better on Sony's top of the line PS4. It's just a terrible way to treat your consumers and the people who've supported you from the beginning.
-
I hope whoever double dips remembers how the gaming industry cried with laughter over this, because it's basically what you're paying for a Playstation console this gen:
-
No but there's going to be a better version out there, for all those suckers who spend another 300 quid.
-
Lied in the Uncharted 4 thread?? Because I mistakenly wrote weeks instead of months? That was a typo. My post in the Division thread was a little mischievous I'll admit, poking fun at just how every other AAA game these days seems to be an openworld shooter/RPG, but plenty do similar when they say the Wii U had nothing but platformers or bring up (recently) the lack of voice chat in Splatoon as bait/a joke. As for the complaints about my Vita, the way it wouldn't run games was just bizarre. The last time I'd ever experienced something like that was having to blow in NES cartridges. I really was just used to games working on Nintendo consoles. Do people complain for pages and pages whenever someone says "Thanks a lot Nintendo" or "f off Nintendo"? No. Other forum members have shared their disbelief at how much grief I'm getting for venting. At that particular moment in time, I was angry. It really isn't that big a deal. People are just far too defensive when it comes to Playstation, the slightest bit of complaining and everyone has a go. Eg: my complaints about the PS4 OS being ridiculed. I have no problem with people being more fond of Playstation this generation, it's obvious every day on this message board. What I do have a problem with are the double standards which I'm sorry are clear for all to see. It's just a shitty way of treating the 30 million people who supported your console, subjecting them to an inferior product for the next few years. At least these leaks give them two months to think of a good PR message...
-
It's just a shitty thing for Playstation to do. People buy their console expecting certain mileage out of it, and 30 million people are now being told sorry, you've now got old tech, spend another 300 quid and our top of the range console, again.

Ashley, I appreciate you taking my complaint seriously and the time and effort you took into checking the various posts. I wish I could say I had the motivation to do likewise, maybe I will at some point this week. All I'll say is use your gut, and try and think back to the Wii U thread as a whole. You don't need search results to tell you that the majority of that thread is nothing but complaints. As I said, nothing wrong with that, unpleasant as it is, my issue is when I post complaints in the PS4 thread (no folders, no online friend popups, no activity log etc...) I get shot down and accused of having an agenda and people compare and ridicule the Wii U instead. I have every right to be annoyed about the PS4K, it sounds like half the people out there are equally pissed off. I don't think having a go at me for saying "thanks a lot Playstation" and "f you Sony" in the heat of the moment is such a big deal, or deserves all these pages of arguments. It's a completely different situation. There isn't one piece of hardware with PC gaming and you know what you're getting into with that ecosystem. With console gaming people don't expect incremental upgrades like this two or three years after release.
-
I never said anything about Nintendo "hate", just negativitiy. The entire Wii U thread is an example of this. Absolutely. It seems not. This thread is a prime example. You get accused of having an "agenda" or shot down for being mad they're making a 3 year old successful console obsolete. On another note...
-
The Nintendo as software developers quote is just as applicable as the rest. I didn't take anything out of context, I only included the ones related to this discussion. If you didn't want me picking and choosing then you shouldn't have bothered including the ones that had no relevance to the topic. The rest of my point stands about the obvious double standards.
-
And there was me thinking you were proving someone else wrong. Such as... Obviously not. So you're equating... with Unbelievable. There is a double standard. Nothing could be more obvious. Say the slightest negative thing about Nintendo and no one else bats an eyelid, have a look at the entire Wii U thread to see a prime example. The second anyone says something negative about the mighty Playstation, all hell breaks loose. Now people are giving me endless grief because I dared say things like "thanks a lot Playstation, GTFO" and because I'm venting about this pointless and money grabbing (IMO) PS4 upgrade. Come on!
-
I'm not really sure what your point is as I find it hard to believe you're backing me up, but that's what your post seems to do? NX controllers don't screw people out of spending more money so anyone having that reaction to the NX or Wii U needs a word with themselves.
-
Err, yes I am ok with that. Why wouldn't I be? That's how traditional console generations work, 5+ years. Instead we have Playstation basically sticking a middle finger up at all the people who bought the PS4 hardware, two years and a half years after release. PS4 games won't look shitty on the big screen demo, but they'll look worse than the PS4K, enough for them to actually stick the two up for comparison. What a mess. Moriarty's right, this is a PR disaster waiting to happen. They'll have to message this very carefully.
-
No, they can wait another 2 years and release the PS5. It'll be brilliant watching them try and demo games side by side on PS4 and PS4K. Here's the amazing PS4K version, oh and here's the shitty version for the 40 million of you out there that haven't upgraded. They can't demo one without the other I wouldn't have thought. Coming from the paragon of posting etiquette and respectability.
-
No one is saying his views are fact, just interesting and he raises some important issues. That's all. This isn't about how difficult it'll be for devs to make two versions of games, it's about the business and PR decision of Playstation releasing an upgraded console three years into a generation that was supposed to "last longer than the PS3 gen", according to Sony.
-
A well respected games journalist who used to be Mr Playstation at IGN (with Greg Miller) and is now doing his own thing.
-
He also knows more about Playstation that probably any games journalist out there.
-
Colin Moriarty is pissed off. "This is a terrible, terrible move" (6:45 in for reactions to start)
-
I often wonder what percentage of PS4 owners don't even qualify themselves as gamers necessarily, and only buy the console for COD, FIFA and maybe GTA and play nothing else.
-
Yes, because no one's ever said such SHOCKING statements as "thanks a lot Nintendo" or "f you Nintendo" before. Ever. And certainly no worse. Unbelievable double standards on here. As per usual, one rule when you want to complain about Nintendo, another for when you dare to complain about Playstation.
-
I didn't think that was the main takeaway point at all, it was more a comment about how Playstation's messaging will be important so that they don't anger the 40 or so millions PS4 owners out there, which at the end of the day will be PR. I never said or even suggested I cared about others' reaction? I was simply sharing my own POV, then got shot down for it for some reason.
-
I wouldn't say Knack and Killzone were worth buying a new console for, or ever in the former's case, but that didn't seem to harm the PS4. Zelda on it's own would trump either of their competitor's recent launches, never mind any of the other games in addition.
