  1. The DS definitely had the novelty factor going for it at the time, but then the 3DS had Mario 3D Land in 3D....
  2. It was a big ask following up one of the best handheld devices of all time, and the common belief is the DS was probably better. Personally I think sofware wise the games on 3DS were of a higher quality than the DS offerings. And Luigi's Mansion 2 'good' not 'great', for shame!
  3. Charming. Attacked with virtually every post on here. What utter nonsense. I have my opinions and I state them, that's all. Every one of you moan, bait, reply with snide gifs, comments, abuse. Take a look in the mirror. Negativity towards other members? I get attacked with virtually every single post I make. Complete inability to take on other people's opinions? Utter rubbish. I disagree with a lot of people and argue my case. That's what a message board is for. Relentless instance on having the last word? Again, rubbish. Just the other day someone replied with "that's the end of the conversation". People don't like my views and attack me for it, it really is as simple as that. No no, I won't post in this thread again, so keep your negative thread. You know, in addition to the relentless and endless negativity on the Nintendo board in every thread, about anything and everything Nintendo do. So yes, maybe cut the melodrama and keep this thread, please. I won't say another word in this topic.
  4. Different strokes. The 3DS has been incredible IMO Animal Crossing, Smash Bros, Mario 3D Land, Zelda ALBW, Bravely Default, Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart 7, Pokemon, Ocarina/Majora's Mask, Pilotwings, Monster Hunter, NSMB2, Kirby, Fantasy Life, Layton, Paper Mario, Mario and Luigi, Kid Icarus.... Yes please.
  5. This. The concept sounds fantastic, the local-multiplayer-anywhere concept could be a huge hit, and the doubled first party output on one system are all very exciting.
  6. It amuses me greatly that a message board that is full of negativity towards Nintendo, feels the need to start not one, but two "negative" Nintendo threads because two people who like to remain positive about the company ruin other topics. The negativity will continue on the main threads of course.
  7. Does that mean the regular NX thread won't have any negativity whatsoever and will only be for the likes of... well, just dazzybee and myself? I find it odd that a "negative" thread needs to be started when pretty much every thread in the Nintendo board is filled with negativity already. But go for it, enjoy....
  8. Exploring designed locations will always be far more interesting than exploring procedurally generated ones though. After a dozen planets you've seen basically all you're going to see, with slight variations. Sure the wildlife will be different, but does it really make any difference?
  9. Ok I'll PM you every time it happens, consider my recent PM one instance of blatant bias.
  10. I bring up the pro-Playstation, anti-Nintendo bias all the time in posts, if you want me to private message you every time it happens, then sure, I will. And for the record, I reported his bait a little while ago, so I did call attention to it. Given his abuse towards me the other day, "shit stain" I believe it was, how you can let his comment on the last page pass I just can't understand. Had I made a similar "joking" post on the PS4 thread it would have been deleted (like my one moaning about the lack of UI customisation) and I would have probably gotten a warning. All I ask is for a bit of fair and equal treatment, that's all.
  11. The Share button sounds good and the split D-pad sounds like it's necessary for the detachable controllers to function similarly. Good job not having this blatant bait deleted, how did you manage that? One rule for....
  12. I am actually, for continuing to indulge your bait for some reason. It's very simple, the difference between SD and HD is extremely noticeable. The difference between 720p and 1080p is not. There are trade offs for going with the latter and Nintendo will choose the one that makes the most sense for them. If it has a better DPI than the Vita, which looks great as is, then that's fine by me, especially if it gets me an extra hour of battery life and still outputs 1080 to a tv. Plus, they can just release a heavily upgraded model in a couple of years so we can all buy it twice.
  13. No, there's a big difference between SD and HD gaming, unlike the two kinds of HD and it's the reason why the 1080p v 720p arguments are ridiculed in the gaming press.
  14. They make hardware to suit the games. A great game is a great game regardless of whether it's 720p or 1080p, but if the former saves them some money and increases battery life, they'll go with that on a handheld display. You probably would have complained about the original Gameboy being so technologically lacking compared to the Game Gear and Lynx, but look how that turned out.
  15. Battery life and price. Nintendo don't care about having the latest super duper tech, they just make great games for as many people as possible. A great game is a great game, regardless of whether it's 720p or 1080p.
  16. I play and love Elite Dangerous and Animal Crossing, I know all about games like this. Space tourism is great, but the truth of the matter is, procedurally generated worlds just aren't very interesting after the first half dozen, once the novelty of the world building wears off. You go to a planet, it'll look different, it'll have different resources, the animals will look different, but act in the same basic ways. it'll have the same types of buildings every square mile. And that's basically it. The stations all look the same. You only ever run into single aliens, they don't interact with each other. One of the best parts about this game to me is your interactions with Polo and Nada, recurring characters in a game that desperately needs more. It's an amazing technical achievement and a brilliant skeleton of a game. They just needed to offload it to another developer to build something compelling on top of that. I'm still enjoying the game but the crushing disappointment of the Atlas quest really turned me sour on the whole thing. I'll make my way to the centre, but I anticipate similar disappointment. I spent four hours today grinding transmission towers to upgrade my ship to a 48 slot one. It wasn't fun, but I did it anyway for some reason.
  17. Then you'll have experienced most of the game after visiting a few systems. The grind is to allow some sort of progression. Something to do.
  18. Dull is right. Would I be right in thinking a lot of Nintendo fans don't seem to post on this board anymore? The instant there's any defence of Nintendo you get shouted down with snide remarks like Rummy's.
  19. EA exec reassures everone these upgraded consoles are a good thing for the industry
  20. This game is a technical achievement, but a empty husk of a game. I'll have to agree with the 6/10 metacritic. Disappointing but it's been a fun experience. The grind is just so boring, and synonymous with modern openworld gaming. The difference is at least there's a storyline in those other grind-fests.
  21. Just strikes me as odd that Sony revealed the PS4 5 months before launch, and Microsoft revealed the XBO 6 months before, and yet people are moaning that Nintendo haven't revealed the NX with 7 months to go. Their situations may be different, but not to the degree you're suggesting. How much time do you need to explain a handheld games console, six months is perfect IMO, hence why it's standard.
