  1. This is on Treehouse at the moment and looks fantastic! Attention to detail in every corner.
  2. Pitting the winners against the devs at the end was a great idea
  3. Great quote! Another good read from Eurogamer Nintendo consolidates an already special year
  4. Three years and four months since Donkey Kong which is less than what Mario Odyssey took to make. I'm sure we'll hear about Retro in one of the Directs in the next six months. They often troll reply to tweets asking what they're working on.
  5. Obviously those games play somewhat differently. It would be pretty laughable if they all played identically. Yoshi's Wooly World and Kirby Rainbow Paintbrush play completely differently but it didn't stop everyone saying Nintendo only make 2D platformers. Undertale???? I didn't comment on Undertale because it's an indie game, and not a first party Playstation exclusive shown off at their conference. I have no agenda, I simply believe that not only does the AAA landscape lack any sort of imagination or variety but in terms of this discussion Playstation first party games are cookie cutter in design, tone and execution. In terms of my first point, look at the next big thing, Anthem, looks fantastic but it's a mech-based third person openworld shooter set in a dystopian future.
  6. This image I just found on gaf sums it up really. Bored of the endless supply of third person action games from Sony. + a couple of multiplatform shooters, because obv. Ignoring the fact that it was the same show as last year, it was the most one-note conference I've ever seen regardless.
  7. Yeah the city seems a bit dull looking. I don't think it's a hub world though. The progression is interesting. There seems to be both the moons you find hidden around and the story moons that follow a linear path. Both let you carry on after collecting but collecting the latter unlocks a new path/area of the level. Seems like it's sort of a mix of 64's find a star anywhere and Galaxy's mission based structure.
  8. I guess because putting a 240p game on a 1080p system would either involve a ton of extra work, or they weren't keen on having a low res Metroid game ported over to their shiny new system.
  9. Hearthstone would make a lot of sense. Blizzard put up that tease around the Switch reveal if I remember correctly.
  10. In the Gamespot gameplay demo the guy from Nintendo mentioned that New Donk City was in the "Metro Kingdom", which leads me to believe there'll be multiple levels per kingdom, and if so 6 kingdoms seems fine. Treehouse were going on about the crazy amount of content in the game, so I wouldn't worry. As for controls, think I read a couple of articles talking about the motion controls if you use the split joycons, which is all Nintendo are letting people use for the demo. I imagine Pro controller will be fine. Odyssey is going to get lots and lots of 9s and 10s, it just will. I was thinking yesterday how the 3D Mario team at Nintendo are probably one of three developers in the industry that you just know whatever they release will be amazing. I think the other two would be the Zelda team at Nintendo and maybe Naughty Dog from Sony.
  11. As @liger05 says, the more cross platform games this keeps happening to, the more backwards Sony will look
  12. Ubisoft > Nintendo > Microsoft > Bethesda > EA > Sony for me. Ubisoft had the biggest variety of gameplay, everything looked really fun and/or interesting. Sony just showed their E3 from last year, lots and lots and lots and lots of third person action games, threw in yet another remake, and added some dates. Boring and self-indulgent. A Way Out, an indie title at EA looked more creative and interesting than any of Sony's games. Anthem running on a handheld would be interesting. Rocket League is a far better fit for the Switch than Destiny 2. It's the perfect system for it.
  13. [tweet]874668801433886720[/tweet] And Dreams, and...
  14. I'm not sure what's up with Audray but she looks and talks completely different to normal.
  15. Two sidescrolling platformers. In amongst Zelda, MK8, Pokken, Arms, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors, Fire Emblem (2017), Xenoblade 2, Pokemon, Metroid Prime etc I absolutely would have rather had a Waverace or Pilotwings game instead of Kirby, but meh. Can't have everything, and Kirby sells.
  16. Thankfully they didn't focus their entire conference on games early in development, at the detriment of future shows.
  17. So few IP? I'm happy with Zelda, Mario, Yoshi, Kirby, Metroid, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Splatoon, Pokemon etc all in the space of one or two years thanks. Arms is brand new. There's only so many original concepts one publisher can make. I like great games, regardless of whether they're new IP or not. If they released a new IP that you weren't keen on, you'd complain "Where's Wave Race!" There'll be a Nintendo Direct in a couple of months, maybe then, or the one two months after that, etc.
  18. The visuals look lovely, I'd like to see more of the puzzle solving/story elements though.
  19. New fucking IP like Arms out in 3 days?
  20. Autumn 2018 seems likely. I think launching a new gen game is much smarter than a Stars type re-release job they could have maybe done this year.
  21. Looks absolutely fantastic. Can't wait. Worth watching the IGN gameplay footage they showed an hour ago as it shows the game off better than the trailer/Treehouse. I'm just really really worried there might only be four kingdoms in the game, especially hearing there are about 30 "moons" per kingdom. The box art doesn't do much to allay my fears, though the one in the top left doesn't look familiar I guess.
