  1. A big game gets delayed. In other news, water is wet. https://www.polygon.com/23303097/hogwarts-legacy-release-date-delayed-harry-potter Feb 10 2023.
  2. "Don't cry Ubisoft man" That's a beautiful cover, no wonder he's chuffed.
  3. What you mean during their marketing push for Xenoblade? or Kirby? or Switch Sports? or Triangle Strategy? or Legends Arceus? or Fire Emblem Warriors? or Mario Strikers? or the MK8 DLC packs? Surely it's become clear by now that Nintendo focus on one game at a time (they're not the only ones to do so, that's pretty much universal at this point). They'll announce features when they're ready to announce features. Now is as good a time as any. It's obviously worked for them in the past or they wouldn't keep doing this. You're entitled to say they've done an awful job selling this game to you personally, but don't call Splatoon 3 'nothing more than a map pack' without knowing the facts. We're literally about to find them out.
  4. I just prefer waiting to see what a thirty minute deep dive brings than prematurely labelling the game “nothing more than a map pack”. That’s peak gamer internet speak.
  5. "A map pack sold as a full priced game"? Brand new single player campaign? New features, weapons? Quality of life improvements? Whatever else that'll be revealed?
  6. Splatoon 2 came out five years ago, another entry after all this time seems fine to me, especially if the new single player is meaty enough. Not to mention their next console likely being at least a couple years out. We'll find out if it's nearly identical with nothing radically new in a couple of days.
  7. I enjoyed MCU films in the first few years but it just got way, way too much for me. 29 films in 14 years with another 10 in the next three, plus all the tv shows? Come on. I miss the days where new IP big blockbuster action films would come out every so often. Now it's like no one even wants to compete with the MCU, so that's all we get, every 2 or 3 months.
  8. There's a brand new track. I'm sure it'll appear in Tour, but still a nice surprise.
  9. No surprise but looks like they put work into this after all.
  10. Yet more nostalgia-bait. Two remakes of a popular thing in the space of four months. Oh look a new Bridget Jones film coming too
  11. Lower Decks is pure nostalgia-bait, so no wonder it does very well with fans, especially these days given that's what most entertainment seems to be trading on. I really like the series but not because of the constant, never-ending references, I think when it actually does its own thing, it does it quite well and shows a lot of heart. Just wish there was a bit more of that. S3 of Picard has abandoned any pretence of trying to be fresh and new, and is unashamedly doing the whole nostalgia-bait thing too, we'll see if the writing holds up, but I'm sure just seeing old faces again will be enough for some. But ditching most of the series cast and bringing back the old crew is a tad embarrassing from a showrunner pov.
  12. Derail the conversation? The thread is about the game, which is what people are discussing. Sales figures > potential for a sequel > who does/doesn't want a sequel and why.
  13. I put 'I personally feel', 'in my opinion' and 'for me' in the space of two posts, making it extremely clear this is all my opinion. My opinion that it's the most over-rated game ever (certainly in the AAA space), because I prioritise gameplay over story-telling. Probably why I enjoy Nintendo games most of all. But that doesn't mean I also can't mention that I'm happy for people who do enjoy it. They're not mutually exclusive. It was a genuine sentiment. I don't want to bring down a thread on a game for the people who do enjoy it so I'll leave it there.
  14. Completely agree. All style no substance this game, easily one of the most overrated games in years. It was like open world design from 2012. Definitely the most over-rated game, possibly ever imo. For me, if any game sums up some AAA studio's priority of story and world-building over actual gameplay, it's this one. If a sequel is on the way, they need to work on the gameplay so that every mission isn't exactly the same. Almost everything was just 'go here, kill mongols, go here, kill mongols.', every time. And you can't just introduce the concept of wind pointing the way to your objective and call it a day in the innovation stakes. It was cool at first but at the end of the day it's still just a yellow line directing you to your next cookie cutter objective. Same with the fox dens, there's no gameplay, it's just follow this marker that's moving on screen. Same with the haikus, no gameplay, Again, happy for those who enjoyed it, but yeah...
  15. Good for them that it did well but I personally really hope they don't make a sequel. If any game makes me see @Glen-i's point about openworld games, it's this one. It bored me to tears.
  16. About time Playstation offered something like this! I've a love/hate relationship with achievements. They're pretty addictive and I myself have gotten plenty of Platinums in the past but what's addictive isn't always healthy for the industry. That was my first thought as well, definitely feels like it could be that. On the other hand collectible figurines have been a thing in games for a while, like in Smash, so could be an innocent inclusion like that. Could be you have to start playing the game from launch date/time.
  17. This whole YEAR is stacked for Nintendo. Pokemon Arceus Kirby and the Forgotten Land Triangle Strategy Nintendo Switch Sports Fire Emblem Warriors Xenoblade 3 Mario Strikers Splatoon 3 Mario + Rabbids 2 Pokemon Scarlet + Violet Bayonetta 3 Plus stuff like the MK8 Expansion, Kirby Fall Guys, Live A Live, MonHun Rise Sunbreak and Advance Wars Remake and who knows what else! Wouldn't surprise me if the BOTW2 delay was just for scheduling reasons.
  18. I just think it looks a bit rubbish. A typically soul-less Ubisoft game, where they spent the first 10 minutes of that presentation talking about crafting, and cosmetics and progress bars, without actually saying what the main gameplay was. Ubisoft Milan and maybe a couple more apart, the whole publisher is in a shocking state at the moment.
  19. Didn't Doctor Strange come out like 2 months ago? I guess maybe Covid affected the release schedule but wow, still seems crazy to me.
  20. Good news! Reedpop aren't too popular from what I've heard but I'm sure they'll do a fine job.
  21. Nice, didn't realise that! I'm not usually a fan of turn based RPGs but this one looks great so...?
  22. Be nice to have something to play on my PS5 since Horizon! Looking forward to it.
