Firstly, what's wrong with the horses jumping off the ferry? I thought the addition of the horses in the remake was one of the many things that made it more interesting than Ringu. And the thing about seeing the ring before you die - so what if it wasn't in the original? If they hadn't added anything new to the remake, it would have been as simple and dull as the original, in my opinion. I don't think it was made clear enough in the original film why it was called Ringu, so I don't see anything wrong with having an actual ring in the remake. Now The Ring Two, well that's another matter - that was just plain awful.

I know that most people disagree with me on this one, but I really enjoyed The Ring - I actually found it really scary, and I loved the concept, even though I knew it was a remake. It's definitely scarier in a darkened cinema, though. Having watched The Ring, I rented Ringu, and was utterly disappointed. The plot seemed much more basic, scenes went on too long, and it just wasn't scary. Maybe if I'd seen the original first, I'd prefer it, but the fact that I'd aready seen The Ring meant that nothing in Ringu really interested me as I already knew what was going to happen. For example, I had no idea about the crawling out of the TV bit the first time I saw The Ring, and it really scared me. When it happened in Ringu, I just thought, 'meh'.

I joined a gym a couple of months ago, and although I'm beginning to notice a slight improvement in my arm muscles, there's still not even a hint of a six pack. Trouble is, I can't really afford to lose much more weight - I'm under nine stone as it is!

I got excited about this last time it was 'announced'. I'm taking it with a pinch of salt until Fox / Groening announce something official.

Back when I was in school, I made a graphic adventure game based on Red Dwarf. I did all the graphics myself in Paint, so I got lots of practice at pixel art, and I definitely improved over the year it took me to make the game. I'm probably not as good any more, though - it was over six years since I made the game. The last thing I had a go at in Paint was copying some Azumanga Daioh characters, which I did last year. Here are the results:

Well the first Pokémon game I ever played was Sapphire, so I've got a soft spot for that era. I've never played any of the Johto games, so I can't really comment on them, apart from to say that I think the Johto Pokémon are by far the worst designed out of the three gens - too cute, cuddly and colourful if you ask me. I did enjoy playing Fire Red, and there are a lot of good Pokémon in Kanto, but for me, the newness of Pokémon had worn off, and I felt it was a bit samey. Now I realise that in reality, it was Ruby/Sapphire that copied the earlier gens, but hey, I can't help which one I played first. :p

Zelda: Twilight Princess Discussion (SPOILERS: BEWARE)
Mike replied to EchoDesiato's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Does anyone remember when TP was announced two years ago, Nintendo said that in dungeons, you'd see the action from above, and the camera would zoom in during battles? Has this feature definitely been dropped now, then? -
To be honest, I'd be surprised if this sold well with a £5 price point. I'm not really interested in DVDs, as I can watch videos online, and anyway, I don't like spoiling games by watching too many gameplay videos. This could be the right opportunity for another magazine company like Emap or Uncooked to publish a more affordable rival magazine..

I also prefer the 'natural' environments, but if Prime 2 and the early videos of 3 are anything to go by, Retro is taking the series away from this, towards more built up / industrial areas. I'd love there to be tall underground caverns in Corruption, like in the 2D games. I'm expecting there to be a blue-ish Phazon environment somewhere in the game, though, like in last year's mini trailer.

Apple and raspberry is my favourite, but I'm also partial to orange and passionfruit and apple and mango.

Well okay, I'm just saying that that's who they reminded me of, anyway.

What about Tom and Kay's characters both being quite upper class and awfully polite? And Fat Bastard and the monster having that cheeky grin, being obsessed with eating, and generally being pretty gross?
-
I thought last night's episode was okay, if very cringe-worthy in parts (e.g. running through the corridors near the beginning). It was a bit different, and definitely not one of my favourites, but it wasn't as bad as some people are making out. I just wish that Peter Kay's character wasn't a rip off of Tom Hanks from 'The Ladykillers' (when in human form) and Fat Bastard when in his true form. Loved the joke about his home planet, though.

For anyone complainig that there aren't enough women in Smash Bros, here's a few that I reckon would put up a good fight...

Nice and bright, and I like what you've done with the font. 7/10 Here's my new sig. Personally, I prefer my old Kirby one, but I thought it was time for a change.. -
Nah, I definitely read it has some RPG elements, like EXP and companions going around with you (you can see them following Mario, floating just behind him in these screenshots).

Probably something on my dad's old Spectrum. Hungry Horace and Frankie Goes to Hollywood are two names that spring to mind.

Nah, I like this advert. Adverts don't have enough silly songs in them nowadays, and you have to admit, it gets stuck in your head.. I suppose it's not everyone's cup of tea, though, and I do like the Sheilas' Wheels ads too.. :p

I watched Battle Royale for the first time a couple of months ago and really liked it. I'm interested in seeing how this remake turns out..

I'd love him to be in TP too. I don't understand people who say that he doesn't belong in a realistic Zelda, when his first appearance was in Majora's Mask. Speaking of which, I wonder whether this game's plot will be linked to MM in any way.. I'd love another game set in Termina.

I'm one of the few people who loves every appearance Tingle has made in a Zelda game, so I'm certainly looking forward to this. So glad it hasn't been canned! I love the art style, and I hope the name in the English translation remains just as wacky.

It'll be interesting to see if the developers have programmed any more animations for physical attacks, on top of the few that each Pokémon had on the GC. I want to see a proper seismic toss when you use that move, not just the Pokémon's generic physical attack. Doubt it'll happen, though, just as I doubt that any damage you do to the arena will stay there for more than one move.

I'm really pleased that the Pokémon do actually hit each other now, too. I may get this; I'll just have to see what the one player mode is like. I agree that the graphics look good, but I'm slightly disappointed that they're still basically using the N64 / GameCube models just with a lick of extra (very shiny) paint.

The cartoon series was what first got me interested in Pokémon, but I still didn't buy a game until Sapphire came out. Every so often I'll watch it; I wouldn't say it's any worse now than it used to be, even if some of the episodes get a bit samey. If I get the chance, I'll probably try to watch some of the new episodes that are starting next week on Toonami, too. I'm just not looking forward to watching the episodes dubbed by a different cast.
