F Zero GX - Have you unlocked the AX tracks?
Mike replied to david.dakota's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I've unlocked the AX tracks, and it was probably the hardest thing I've ever managed to do in a video game (along with completing the challenge mode in Polarium). I spent days and days trying to do the cups on Master Setting, locked in my room, replaying the same courses over and over again. But it was worth it - the AX tracks are among the best in the game, IMO. After doing that, though, I didn't have the willpower to try and unlock the AX drivers. Usually I like to unlock everything in my games, but I admitted defeat with the GX story mode on hard. It's the same in SSBM: I've got all the trophies except the Diskun one - I just don't think I could manage to get all the bonuses, especially the ones such as 'complete the single player mode without getting hit'. -
And you're telling me to grow up? I'm sorry, but saying you hate someone just because of the country they come from is utter xenophobia. I'm sure you wouldn't be happy if you came across a thread where a load of French people were saying how much they hated the British, just because they'd met a few British chavs.
-
I can't believe so many of you are saying you hate the French just because you've had bad experiences with a few of them. There are just as many British idiots as there are French idiots, you know. I'm living in France at the moment, and I've noiced very few differences between the people living here and those living in England. It's a shame that this rather racist thread has been allowed to carry on for so long.

Let me see.. When I was younger, I went on holiday and we saw Julie Goodyear drinking at a bar. I've also met Craig Charles and Doug Naylor at a Red Dwarf book signing, and a few years ago I met and had photos taken with Melanie C, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham. They used to film Keeping Up Appearances in my village, so I've seen all of the main cast for that, although the only one who spoke to me was Patricia Routledge, who said, 'sorry, I don't have time for more autographs - we've got to get back to filming'! And best of all, Aled Jones came to my house to interview my mum for Songs of Praise, and he had a cup of tea in my garden. :p

I'm just fed up with how much computer graphics are used in adverts nowadays - they just don't impress me anymore. When was the last time there was an advert with a hand-drawn cartoon in? By the way, don't hate me, but for some reason I love the Safestyle and Sheilas' Wheels adverts - my girlfriend always moans when I start singing along to 'women make the safest drivers, you could save a bunch of fivers'. :p That's another thing abot modern adverts - there just aren't enough catchy jingles anymore.

Zelda: Twilight Princess Discussion (SPOILERS: BEWARE)
Mike replied to EchoDesiato's topic in Nintendo Gaming
My first Zelda was OOT, too. I was aware of all the hype leading up to it before its release, but just didn't see what all the fuss was about. Then just after its release, a friend of my parents' came over our house for dinner, and brought his copy along. I had a play, up to the entrance of the Deku Temple, and absolutey loved it. Needless to say, I was down the shops that weekend with some Christmas money, buying my own copy! -
How ridiculous. I've met some rude English people too, but it doesn't mean everyone in England is rude, or that I hate the English.
-
So, has anyone tried out my levels?
-
I'm in France now! I saw the official Nintendo mag in the shops today, and I expect I'll buy it sometime over the nex week.
-
I don't know if any of you will be able to get this to work, but here's my attempt at creating a few levels. Two years ago I re-did the whole of World 1, and today I redesigned Donut Plains 1. If you can get it to work, let me know what you think! http://www.alandod.plus.com/Mine.smc

The best ones for me are The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and Aladdin, whilst on the Pixar front, Toy Story 2 and The Incredibles are my favourites.
-
Definitely go for Pikmin 2 - it's much better, and worth the extra expense.
-
Cool, I'm going to be in France for most of March, so I'll be sure to pick up both of those magazines.
-
We've known about that release date for ages! :P Good news about the low price, though.
-
Definitely faked, and the picture only served to remind me how awful that logo is - if Nintendo keep the name Revolution, I really hope they change it.

Zelda delayed to Autumn and Rev confirmed for 2006
Mike replied to penic99's topic in Nintendo Gaming
If you haven't got your sword or shield yet, no wonder you haven't been wowed! Just give the game a bit more time - you won't be disappointed. It's a shame that Zelda's definitely been delayed until the autumn now; I just hope they're using this extra year to make it really good and not just add Revolution features. There had better not be too much of a delay between the US and UK release, either. Hopefully we'll get New Super Mario Bros before the summer, so we have something to keep us entertained during the holidays. -
Order of the Phoenix won't be out this year, I'm afraid. I can't really think of many films I'm really looking forward to this year. The only one that really springs to mind is Pirates of the Carribean 2. I'm sure there'll be some more good ones as the year gowes on, though. At least it'll definitely be a good year for games, what with Zelda, New Mario Bros and hopefully the Revolution on the horizon.

Me and my mates were obsessed with Worms ten years ago. We used to spend hours on end playing games of Worms Reinforcements, searching in vain for the the mole bomb, which I never did get to see. I even remember doing lots of Worms-related doodlse in my rough book at school. I think by the time Worms 2 came out I was a bit tired of it, and I definitely didn't play it as much as I'd played Worms 1. Nevertheless, I still spent a large number of hours on it and Armageddon when it came out. Some of the weapons on that, like the Armageddon weapon itself, were fantastically destructive. I also have fond memories of creating my own levels and sound sets. I never got into the 3D ones, though. I just couldn't get my head around the controls, really, and by then I had my GameCube, anyway, which was taking up most of my gaming time.

I really like the look of the new magazine - it's very classy now. From what I've read so far, the writing does seem a bit better than in NOM (I haven't encountered any fart jokes yet, I mean), and the lay out is impressive. Only a few complaints, namely some of the pictures are a bit too big, and don't leave much room for text, and there wasn't really that much new information in the mag. A lot of it was basically, 'here's a six-page features telling you stuff you already know'. I hope they keep their promise of new Zelda screens and info for the next issue - I don't just want more pictures from the demo.
-
I rarely go to pubs, but when I do I always hate the smoky atmosphere there. This is brilliant news, as far as I'm concerned. I don't know why they can't enforce it sooner, though.
-
Yep, it's annoying, but Nintendo never said it would be out in April anyway. When they delayed it last year, we were only told it would be out after March 31st, and a lot of people assumed that meant April.
-
I'll definitely be getting this when it gets released over here in the spring. It'll be my first new GC game for ages!
-
That's a shame about NGC. I expect I'll still pick up a copy later in the week, though, to see if it's worth getting any more. The way things are going with Nintendo magazines at the moment, I'd be very surprised if a rival magazine company didn't launch a new one by the end of the year, perhaps to coincide with the Revolution launch.
-
I'm certainly expecting an Isle Delfino-themed level in the new Smash Bros, not that I particularly want one. I imagine it would be a lot like the Power Tennis one, with slippery gunk on the floor. And I don't really know what their gimmicks would be, but a Wind Waker and a Paper Mario level would look great, as would an MP2:Echoes level which changed from light world to dark world every so often. Or how about a randomly generated Animal Crossing level?
-
I assume you don't have any statistics to back that up. I've read a lot of people saying they'd like Sonic in SSB Revolution, but just as many who, like me, would hate it. SSBM is all about wallowing in Nintendo nostalgia, and Sonic has absolutely no place in it. I liked your other ideas, though - I agree that Nintendo needs to sort out the clone characters (and maybe get rid of Pichu altogether), and your ideas for new characters all sound cool. An Animal Crossing character would be interesting, although what would they call it? Maybe it'd have to be one of the NPCs, like Tom Nook. Wario should definitely be in there too, and I'd like to see another Pokémon (one of the decent, more powerful ones ones - not wastes of space like Pichu and Jigglypuff). I'd also like to see another F-Zero character, Olimar and maybe one of the Wario Ware characters, like Jimmy T or even Mona (to increase the number of female characters). Just as long as they don't add too many Mario characters - I don't think anyone really wants to see Petey Phirana or Diddy Kong, do they? I hope they do add a lot of new elements to the game, but don't change it too much. SSBM was nigh on perfection, and I wouldn't want them to mess around with it too much.
