It's growing on me. I just kinda wish they'd make the old maps work with the new upgrades. I miss the shorter levels, especially in versus. I'd be up for a 360 sesh though if anyone fancies it.

I'll probably be downloading this tbh. Three reasons. The big One - because I don't have sky. Two, even though the gap is so short, I'm an uber Lost geek. Even if I did have Sky I'd probably download it. I can't wait 6 days for it to air over here! Three, I've got a lot of friends in the U.S. on facebook and twitter and stuff. It's gonna be literally impossible for me to avoid spoilers for 6 days.

Yeah unfortunately it is a monthly charge. An extra 100 quid purely for the joy of having 3G capabilities built in and then you have to get a monthly data plan on top of that to actually make use of it. Rezdiculous!

Got this today fo mah birfday. Played the first campaign offline and I'm a bit... mehhhh. Thought they would have gone all out with the mall setting but they really held back, it was pretty bland. The smokey building on fire bit was interesting though. New special infected seem alright. Melee weapons are okay but I'm already indifferent to them aside from the chainsaw. I dunno. I don't think anything will ever top my first few games of the demo of the first L4D. When you first see a whole crowd of infected running towards you at once. Genuine unforgettable OH SHEEEEET moment. I remember things like the hunters really making me jump too. Remember adoring playing the demo online with my brother, working as a team throughout until we get right to the final exit where I turn around, incapacitate him and escape alone. So many lulz. Thought with a bunch of new maps and improvements I might come close to that feeling again. Not so far.

Aww thanks peoples!! <3 you all. Oh! Happy Birthday to Happenstance too! -
Aw gay, lost 2-0. Away though which is a slight comfort. Really regretting to forget to form train my squad during the gap. They're in a terrible state and annoyingly training ends tomorrow instead of today.

I had this problem when I first joined the forum too. The thanks button doesn't show unless you've made a certain amount of posts (think it's 100) and unfortunately posts made in the Playground don't count toward your post count.

Flamey, the SIM isn't for phonecalls, you can't actually make any calls on it. It's an optional extra if you want to get a 3G data only plan so you can access the net while you're not around a wifi signal.

Aye I do know where you're coming from there, some people do have blind hate for Apple. Though at the same time you don't have to stick up for everything they do. To be honest I've been annoyed by people before who blindly say OSX is shit without really knowing anything about it or using it for any length of time. I do think though that there are key, obvious things that are missing on this device and that on this occasion, Apple do deserve criticism. I can see it has the potential to be revolutionary but it's just not here yet.
-
Caris, read what other people actually write. I know people can be but I don't think there's been much of the immediate undeserved negativity toward Apple in this thread. It's kinda coming across as the opposite, that you have complete blind positivity toward them. A lot of people were already saying that this has potential down the line but NOT at the moment. It doesn't exactly have 3G built in, that's a $130 on top you have to pay for it. Some netbooks ARE shit but there are plenty that aren't. Okay, they run XP? So what?! XP is a fine operating system and at least it's a full operating system rather than an OS originally designed for a phone.
-
Exactly. Caris, I do the same thing on my iPhone though it's not really multi-tasking. Push makes the lack of multi-tasking on the iPhone a little easier to swallow, as does the fact that... well it's a phone first. But the iPad isn't. It's meant to be a tablet/netbook hybrid and with its capabilities there is no reason it shouldn't be able to do true multitasking. Push is not a solution at all. If I had money to burn then I probably would get one at launch as it certainly does look interesting even though major things are lacking. But I don't. I'm an average Joe who makes informed choices about his purchases and this thing just doesn't cut the mustard at all. Because Steve Jobs said so? Come on, can you explain your opinion a little better? It's comments like that which are just making me completely dismiss what you have to say.
-
That's not multitasking though and PUSH does work but not flawlessly. There's no reason at all for multi tasking to not be included. Even limiting it to two or three apps at a time would be better than nothing.
-
Yeah, totally agree. This has potential but like the iPhone, I'm not gonna consider getting one until the 3rd gen when it might actually be worth buying. Sometimes it seems like Apple purposely leaves features out so they can make a big fuss about adding them in at a later date. Like the whole no MMS on the original iPhone debacle.

Care to elaborate or... Y'know... actually contribute to the discussion?
-
Exactly this! I do not get the target market. They seem to be trying to cater to everybody but in reality catering to absolutely nobody.
-
It means exactly that. It's pretty unacceptable on the iPhone given the capabilities of other similar devices but on this?... It's criminal! Tis perfectly capable of it.
-
I kinda agree. People seem to take his opinion as utter fact. He has this omnipotent glow around him that just isn't based in reality. I'm an iMac/iPhone user but don't think I'm blinded by apple fanboyism. If you have Fry on Twitter, it's as clear as day that he's a massive Apple fanboy. They could do no wrong in his eyes.

Re: good for watching videos... Yeah but then you have very little space to actually store many videos on. And the lack of wireless syncing is a joke as is the lack of a webcam and multitasking and etc... The Microsoft courier looked far more impressive/innovative. Edit: Also they had the opportunity to really revolutionise how magazines/newspapers are read but they didn't seem to capatilise on it. An NYT app is not the answer. I'm sure it'll come but they needed a pdf style format + magazines/newspapers for the iBooks store. The only thing that excites me about this device is playing arguably the only real fully multi touch iPhone game, Eliss, with a larger screen area.
-
No multitasking!?!? What?! No sale.
-
Ooo... Keyboard dock is NICE.
-
For something years in the making I expected a bit more than a bigger iPhone. The Microsoft Courier demo looked way more interesting than this. Edit: Not a bad price at all. Though I guess that's the 16GB model he's talking about which is way not enough space. Edit:Edit: OH that $499 figure is for 16GB WITHOUT 3G? Overpriced.

iWork is a nice addition, sure. But I mean anyone wanting to do any serious work is just gonna use their laptop eh?
-
Yeah, more gas. With a lot of diesels you can get them moving in first without even using the gas pedal. That aint the same in a petrol. Don't worry, you'll get used to it soon enough.

At this point I'm more excited about iPhone OS 4.0
