3DS and Wii U eShop purchases to end March 2023
darksnowman replied to Helmsly's topic in Nintendo Gaming
KORG DSN-12 and KORG M01D now half price. Thanks for this mini-review. Not sure if I knew it's a first-person dungeon crawler. Sounds all right for £3! Have you played SADAME yet? It was among last week's reductions and info on it is hard to come by. -

3DS and Wii U eShop purchases to end March 2023

It's happening, @bob! The number of games on sale is steadily going up. Nothing really notable, imo, however there's Silver Falls- 3 Down Stars (£11.99) and Silver Falls- Undertakers (£2.69) that perhaps @Josh64 can vouch for or against? Severed (£2.99) is there again too which @Jonnas has recommended though it's also on Switch and I can't remember which version is preferable. There's also Swords & Soldiers but it's on Switch as well. Legend of Kusakari, anyone? I grabbed these: - Kid Tripp - 100% off - FREE! - Digger Dan DX - 100% off - FREE! Gonna have to look into the likes of Fairune (99p) to see if any of them are worth a punt. I always check into these and forget if they're decent or not by the next time they go on sale. -
Hmm, I would have said half-term in February but I knew it wasn't as late as April/ Easter so if we split the difference and land on March that sounds reasonable enough. Same—I remember the day I got Prime too, and it took me a while to get through it and all, though not due to any involvement of PSO... After Fusion (which I probably hadn't finished at that point as those were still good days for swapping games... sadly, it was the tail end of that era), I was looking forward to Prime well enough. Super Metroid's not for me, but thanks to Fusion, I hadn't written off modern Metroid yet. Basically, being the next Nintendo release made it a must-buy anyway, it seemed a given they were going to knock it out of the park as they had with Mario 64 and OoT... and above all for me, having lost Rare, I saw it as Retro stepping in to take up the mantle. Rare had DK, Retro got Metroid, the natural order of things was resuming. Something about those opening sandy rooms reminded me of the end of Perfect Dark so I breathed a sigh of relief and set about chipping away at it. I don't know how quickly I got there, but when I reached the part that sends you off on the artefact hunt I ejected the disc and stuck it in the drawer where I wouldn't have to look at it. No thank you. It wasn't until during the Wii years that I went back and finished it, starting over to give it a proper chance. My opinion on it didn't change but at least I can say I did it. But at what cost, @S.C.G. At what cost. Fusion's the exception that proves the rule for me with the Metroid series. Hope Chu Chu Rocket gets added to the GBA NSO.

I thought he looked a cool customer and would be a good ally for the home straight. But Wilf played it well knowing a guy had to be brought under suspicion and as soon as that geezer got a whiff of his name being mentioned he couldn't cope. I couldn't believe his reaction. He just had to keep a lid on it for one day; he was not ready to be a traitor at all. The parting gift was the icing on the cake for Wilf, imo, but I see where you're coming from because the others left quietly. The big doll was there for the attention. No idea why they let her become the alpha. Let's get two of us in there for the season one bf/gf dynamic and breakfast table reveal. "I am 100% faithful and I know he can't be a traitor because we're from N-E and we've played mafia games!!" Says you need up to six weeks availability for it.

And what a run it's had. Fantastic selection of games to choose from. I didn't take the plunge until the end of 2018 due to "wait-and-see" hesitancy brought on from the Wii U and not really being finished with the 3DS. When a bundle deal came up in Tesco I could hold out no more. No regrets on that front as the thing still hasn't had a price drop! Immediately launched myself into the eShop to get Fortnite and the likes of Cat Quest, Overcooked 2, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Uncanny Valley and Hyper Sentinel, shortly followed by Golf Story. Yep, I embraced the indies. The digital version of Mario + Rabbids was among those first buys too. In the following months, I filled my fridge with Sega Ages Phantasy Star, OutRun, FF VII, Shovel Knight Treasure Trove and on and on it's gone. That's without mentioning the stack of physical games. Never expected to amass this many games for the Switch.

There's a Big Run this weekend which is nice enough on its own, however they've added a new King Salmonid that's currently appearing during Xtrawaves, Horrorboros. It's a big, long target that seems to circle around fairly harmlessly which made for an unexpectedly easy takedown. It was cool to see it! Will probably do a few more rounds tomorrow and have another go at it. Sort of feels like we're crossing over into Monster Hunter territory with this kind of thing.

Tried the demo; went and bought the (base) game. The production values and personality are still there, but it's the free movement that sold it to me. Felt great—it just clicked with me immediately. There doesn't seem to be any bonus from finishing the demo so I'll just crack on with the full game.

Went to see Creed III having rewatched the first and second these past evenings. Sad to report that my fears were realised in that this latest outing just lacks the heart and soul of the previous Creed and Rocky films. Best part about it was seeing a preview for the Mario Movie among the trailers. Looked cool on the big screen! I barely even glanced at Mario and the characters as there's so much to look at in the background.

Crashing but not burning because it's the bestroid! If they're truly striking while the iron's hot then I look forward to seeing screenshots of the Fusion suit in Prime Remastered. And they could throw the first Metroid back in as an unlockable when they're at it... EEVIL's Emporium has it all! What inordinate amount of rupees would that be going for?

Had that feeling too because I just played the last wave a few weeks ago. Checking back through this thread, it's been March, August, December and now March again.

Three real-world tracks seems a bit overkill this time. Oh well. Just on the day my NSO expires they add on another reason to reactivate it.

Didn't you have to pay them to take yours?

Thanks for the heads up. I've sent it to my Switch. Looking forward to giving it a go!

Oh yeah, Majora's not the hardest. Freaky customer, though. I think I mind getting some good use out of bombs and/or the blast mask of all things against it back on the N64. Maybe I enjoy that blast mask a bit too much. That was before I was aware of the existence of the powers of the Fierce Deity. Not sure why I never got the 3DS version. Maybe it was the price, or maybe it was not wanting to play it on the small screen but I've went through OoT 3D a couple of times with the 3D cranked to the max so I doubt it was that. Likely I was playing games I hadn't played before. Kind of want it now.

I was trying not to expect too much from Ikana in case my rose-tinted glasses had built it up into something it isn't. This was not the case. Captain's mask, getting the Gibdo mask (one of my favourite individual moments in the game), Ikana Castle and onwards to the tower itself. It's a great segment only marred by going into the well which requires you to stump up items to open doors... and if you don't have them? Well, you better go get em. Meh. I'd been making do with getting money from that 100 rupee chest in Clock Town and dodongos. Dancing Redeads seems an even better source! Let the freakshow begin. Stone Tower wasn't so bad. Time-consuming to lay the replicas and go out and flip the place, but not difficult to unravel it room by room. Thought it had gone well until I left without all the stray fairies, so I had to do another pass-through afterwards for those. A bit of an annoyance but totally worth it when the Great Fairy of Kindness bestowed the Great Fairies Sword upon me. And with the Ikana skies a little less murky (woo?), I can be on my way to confront Skull Kid. But that's going to have to wait as there are still a few people in my Bomber's Notebook remaining to be helped. I must have been waiting for items that I should now have, so I'll stalk the denizens of Clock Town some more and see what can be triggered because I've no intention of finishing this without becoming the Fierce Deity. And no, I didn't bother with the frog choir.

Something about improved creature models I think. Which doesn't seem outlandish as it's all they ever seem to be concerned about... I always thought Psyduck got some of the limelight because it's Miyamoto's fave? Though who knows how much truth that NMS factoid holds. -
Level 3 complete. It's pretty claustrophobic in there and it took me a bit longer than the first two. Good sense of achievement getting through it with all the stray fairies. I remember lending the N64 cart to my cousin—provided it still works, to this day the files on it are mine and his. A side-sidenote: probably the biggest blot on MM for me has always been that it only has two slots. Meant I deleted and restarted my own file on the N64. The main reason I double-dipped on the Wii VC was to have two more files! So anyway, we went back to his one Saturday or Sunday and he flicked on the TV and there was MM, paused in the waters of the Great Bay Temple. I was like whoa, this is how serious gaming is done. Then yesterday, I took it on in smaller chunks as and when the day allowed, pausing and putting the Switch to sleep in between. The modern equivalent of leaving it on. Majora's Mask man, it's all cyclic. It was only halfway into day 2 by the time collected Gyorgs remains, but even so, I could feel the moon bearing down. Something about the way you're always stopping to assess the flow of water for where to go next puts the pressure on because you feel like you need to be going rather than observing. So good. Enjoyed the use of fire and ice arrows in there. Spent a moment in the purified bay area then warped over and saved at the owl statue in Clock Town. Didn't reset to day one because having got the frog from the Great Bay Temple, I'm considering getting the choir together now when the going's good. Realistically though, I just can't be bothered going back to Woodfall for the one in there. Wish the game had auto-unequipped my mask here... Bio Deku Babas should be in Resident Evil. I'd a nightmare brought on by them. Alone in the Dark was the first NSO GB/GBA game I'd a look at as I'd never played it before. It seemed like it might be worth giving a proper go.

Nice one if it comes off! In fairness, it was well received. Apparently, a new Switch model will launch alongside the upcoming DLC. This stuff's like clockwork. Any year now it'll come to fruition. -

Caught the headlines. I watched Rillakuma so I'll probably give Pokémon Concierge a look. Already anticipating the spin-off game that's just a Pokémonised Animal Crossing: Happy Home Paradise that's sold as two versions. You gotta take the Plusles with the Minuns. -
Great Bay Temple remains on hold as I went and did the gold skultula house in the swamp. To reach it, I took a death in the poison water and let a bottled fairy revive me so I could press on. I racked up 29 gold skultula tokens then getting behind that "green veil" became a head-scratcher. I tried bombing it, burning it, Lens of Truthing it, tried donning the deku mask to see if I could burrow under it. Even tried giving it the Link's Awakening treatment by throwing a pot at it. Yup, everyone who knows what I'm talking about will know how simple and obvious the solution was. With the Mask of Truth, I went on a bit of a run around to have a listen to any Gossip Stones I came across. They seemed to be everywhere until I actually got the mask. Rather than quit back to day one, I ended up back at the race track where I filled my boots this time. On the way back to Clock Town I put that bird outside Milk Road to the sword again for good measure too. Next up, Great Bay Temple? Wellllll... I spotted a rooftop piece of heart in the swamp that I should probably loop back for first... Seems I'm not up to speed with the plethora of customisation options offered by NSO! I'm fed up seeing the P1 icon and border in general.

There's a reason you were the one to spot this.
