  1. That does sound very feasible to me, considering the current Wii slowdown and the fact they're reluctant to truly announce the next Zelda as a Wii game. I suspect a lot hinges on how successful Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus and New Super Mario Bros will be, ie. whether people are really still buying games for the Wii. Maybe they are, but I think that'll pretty much be the end of the "2nd Wave". Zelda delayed to the Wii 2 would be fine by me (as long as it's actually designed for the new hardware). I did have a problem with Twilight Princess being changed for the Wii, but that was because the Wii can't do everything the GameCube can (assuming Wii owners don't have the pad). The Wii 2, on the other hand, will probably be better than the Wii in every way. MotionPlus is brilliant and if they put a gyroscope in the Nunchuk as well, we could tilt the shield.
  2. That's particularly good. I always thought targeting could potentially be done with a gyroscope.
  3. That's an enormous amount for your first go! Glad you like it.
  4. You're an awesome player, Patch! Yes, I think defeating that boss without multi-heal puts you in the the upper ranks! As for the casino, I didn't bother with it until the post-game, but it was a little bit more fruitful than I expected. There is a method on Roulette that didn't earn me enough to claim the top prizes, but I think it would have let me buy all the equipment I needed. Va-va-voom!
  5. I agree with D prOdigy, there is just something different about this. For one thing, it doesn't seem excessively violent - the horror games and Madworld are a real turn-off for me. It's a full game, designed for the Wii, and seemingly in the right tone. Also, Motion Plus is great and this is the only forthcoming game I know of that uses it!
  6. Excellent point, I think that is indeed the biggest "problem" with the game - the engine. It kept switching from sub-Wind Waker 3D to sub-Link to the Past 2.5D. When I landed on the islands and it changed to 2.5D, it completely took me out of my immersion. Now Mario, on the other hand, has been brought into 2.5D much better than Zelda. It's not as charming as sprites, but they've done it very well, and it does basically feel the same to play.
  7. It was actually, yes! I think it was to have a short, high-quality game at launch that showed off the GameCube's dual analogue feature.
  8. They're always in the same place, but some appear at night and some by day. Also, more and more are added to the gameworld the more progress you make (some of them are very powerful). Visit the circular house near Pickham to find out more about them and a cool sidequest. PS - Don't worry too much about killer kirby's "spoilers"...
  9. Patch, you're embracing this game like a champ! [spoiler=] LMAO! Well I never... I've played through this game twice and I don't remember that mini-boss!!! I'll have to find him via GameFAQs.
  10. As I type this, Gameplay (gameplay.co.uk) still has the £13.99 ones. I agree £20 is a step too far (I wouldn't mind so much if they enabled full screen and 60hz on the Virtual Console games).
  11. Yeah, it was superb. Perhaps he regrets that the analogue L+R triggers didn't take off? I loved using them in Mario Sunshine, it felt like a more sophisticated controller had arrived. Sometimes I feel I'm in an alternate reality. I enjoyed the GameCube and its controller so much, and I just can't understand it being considered a failure in any way apart from commercially. It's the only Nintendo console to have had a C-stick, and what a joy that was to use in games like Wind Waker. The button layout was also perfect. In Metroid Prime, you could charge up a Super Missile with the lower part of your thumb, then actually fire off the missile with the top half of your thumb. Now I'm playing Metroid Prime 3 and the controls feel so counter-intuitive, with the buttons so far apart and having to point within the range of the sensor bar all the time. I try to like it, but I just don't get it.
  12. Totally agree. Nintendo's Mario games are still mechanically excellent, but (going by the DS game), they are no longer inspired. In my opinion, you get magic when someone has an artistic vision and carries it out perfectly (like the games you mentioned). If you look at Super Mario World, the graphics, music and everything else are literally perfect, and I think this is generally true of the SNES era - Nintendo knew exactly what to do with their franchises. This generation, I keep getting the feeling they're not having these great ideas. Don't get me wrong though, this looks good and I'm looking forward to it.
  13. Yes, and they make sure the score is very unobtrusive as well - just a small number at the end of the text. I have to say, I usually agree with Edge's scores, even though I never enjoyed the text of their reviews so much (which is ironic, as that's what they'd like you to focus on!) They have the ability to see whether a big name game is a truly a "AAA" game or not. Sometimes it's important to a company that a big game like Mario or Metroid is seen as essential, but that's not always the reality. For instance, they gave Metroid Prime: Corruption a 7, which I think is right when you look at the bigger picture.
  14. Good idea. In fact, it's just possible the bird has the sword anyway.
  15. LOL, I remember the description of "buttocks" in Punch Out!! It's a good thing though. In my opinion, films should be rated that harshly and descriptively. Oh, that's great. The Dragon's Trap is a superb game (as I remember it) - I'm surprised it wasn't already on the Virtual Console actually. I think I'll also download Final Fight 2, as I always fancied playing it, even if I know it's not meant to be that good! As a new Wii owner, I don't actually know how to go online or get those points you buy the games with (I'll investigate it).
  16. Well, it's basically because when we were 13 we wouldn't have been allowed them in the house, so your friends always knew where some were hidden in the woods or in someone's garden etc! Once a friend and I pretended to play American Football so that I could "accidentally" throw the ball over a wall and he climbed over and retrieved it... as well as a secret stash of porno mags! Ah, I'm glad we didn't have the internet... I totally agree with you, but what I mean is that breasts don't actually have that much influence on the whole body shape (because they're best when they're smaller than people think they ought to be - goes back to proportions). Bones like ribs and hips have a much greater role in setting the proportions, then muscles such as thighs, buttocks etc.
  17. Oh yeah, definitely. Breasts are nice, but it's mainly the hips, waist, thighs, buttocks etc that make women attractive. To me, anyway. Each to his own! Being older, I'm having a good laugh reading the descriptions in this thread about finding old porno mags in bushes and the old rubbish they used to put on Channel 5!
  18. This is exactly how I feel. Soft porn is fine and it's natural to want to see naked women when you're young, to learn the anatomy if nothing else. However, when you experience real chemistry with a girl, you realise how plain boring pornography is. The slightest contact and the slightest smell of pheromones is 100x better than porn. Hardcore porn, I feel, is not healthy. Not necessarily evil, but it's not the right track for an adult to be on. I'm quite a liberal, and think the basics should be legal to depict (for example, in sex education or a "real" film, heck, even in porn - you can't pick and choose), but hardcore porn itself is not a wholesome thing. Don't get me wrong, I love the female form and consider it the most beautiful thing in existence. I'm always staggered that people think nudity is harmful to see, but violence is not. My motto is "Don't be a pervert, don't be a prude".
  19. Just as a pure guess, I'm going to go for Wind Waker (MotionPlus essential).
  20. I really like job classes for some reason (Final Fantasy III is my favourite FF), so Dragon Quest VI could be my favourite out of the "Zenithia Trilogy". By the way, I did finish Dragon Quest V a few months ago and I meant to post a review, but didn't. I'll just say that it was a great game and one that I enjoyed it much more than IV. The graphics were great, with some of the enemy sprites a joy to behold, with Sega Saturn-like sprite-scaling and animation. The musical score was one of the best. "Melody of Love" is stunning, and one of my very favourite Koichi Sugiyama tunes. As for the storytelling, I felt very involved and there were many "wow" moments. On a slightly negative note, I almost felt it was too epic, with too much time passing over the course of the whole story and the enemies winning too many victories. But hey, that was the theme of the game and it all came together well in the end. One thing I particularly liked...
  21. Not at all, I love reading other people's experiences with this game. You're really good at it too! I bet you were glad you were using the Boomerang in the Swordsman's Labyrinth, eh? Fisticuffs can be useful for Jessica and Angelo as an Agility boost in the post-game, although yes, I generally avoided it. I'm tempted to play through again maxing it out for everyone, but I'd still put the necessary points into Spears and Axes, and buy a Boomerang, even if I didn't put any points into it.
  22. Very sad, very shocking. Boyzone were aimed at my generation, so I always saw them on Saturday morning TV. He seemed a very nice person.
  23. Yep! I typed it, then deleted it, because it undermined my point!
  24. Yeah, I have to agree - I thought the controls were great. In fact, the only negative thing I could say about the DS game is that the world map wasn't as good as Super Mario World. Generally speaking, I thought the game was exactly right. Getting 100% was not easy, especially when you're Mini Mario and have to avoid the bombs and drop down that small hole - I actually thought that was frustrating. The Wii game sounds awesome! I've just got a funny feeling that Nintendo are getting their magic back after (in my opinion) a few off years. It's funny how they seem to be getting it right with the 3rd Mario & Luigi RPG and New Super Mario Bros Wii. Let's hope the next Zelda also feels like they totally knew what they were doing.
