    Borderlands

Thing is they don't make it ultra clear which are the main ones. I guess I'll have to pick them by level/difficulty. I must admit my experience with the game recently have been poor. Single player is deffo grating and both online matches tried have been laggy. If Daft's connection is as good as he said it is then I might be able to get away with co-op.
  2. The Men Who Stare At Goats Quite funny in places but it thought it was funnier than it actually was. Didn't really make me laugh out loud like with Zombieland, just a smile here or there. It's a pretty damn weird film. Don't know what score to give it really. Probably wouldn't recommend though.

    Borderlands

Bit of help people. After playing online with some people I've suddenly got all these quests available that I don't want to see. Any way I can go back and choose the right ones?

    Borderlands

That's poor. 'Hat managed to join me but it was barely playable lag, in the end he quit. I tried joining him but it kept timing out so a big fail all round really. My connection is shit so I'm not surprised. Atm doing the connection test gives me: Download: 798.3kbs Upload: 321.0kbs Yummy.
  5. This is going to be so much better than Killzone. The graphics are better too.

    Borderlands

Stop smirking. I pray 3/4 player co-op is going to be a romp. I have a pretty poor connection but haven't played a proper co-op game for a while. If I steam through it and finish getting the platinum, I'll probably sell it along with Uncharted 2 in order to buy Modern Warfare 2 that everyone at school is raving about. Or a more deserving game, whatever that may be. Certainly won't be Tekken after it's reception here. Fallout 3 GOTY needs to be mine, but I'll probably leave that for a while.

    Borderlands

Team ammo regen... Awesome. I can bring 3% more XP from kills to the team. Go me! Looking forward to seeing what Sledge is like.

    Borderlands

There seems to be enough side missions to get me a level or two above the recommended ability to fight sledge so I'll be fine. Level 18 and still gaining XP fairly quickly so should be good to go soon. How does the co-op work? Does one person set the mission and then you go and team it up or what? And can you get 2 vehicles going at once?

    Borderlands

Would it be worth all of use waiting at level 25 roughly (Daft's at 27, Goafer 24) to then do some insane (lag-filled) 4 player co-op or anywhere below? 'Hat, you do some serious playtime, I'll do a fair bit, then around Sunday we could initiate this shindiggery. That'll give 'Hat some 2 days to co-op before he fucks off to play some game where all you do is kill civilians.

    Borderlands

Thoroughly enjoying it, done it solo up to level 17 but it's getting a bit tedious so hopefully I'll get to do some co-op soon.

    Borderlands

Stick with it, personally I have enjoyed almost all of the 5 hours I've spent with it, and finding better weapons is so good. Snipers must be the most rewarding types of weapon and the process of upgrading is one I don't think I can tire of.

    PSP Go

I'd like to borrow a PSP in order to play Echoshift. Other than that there's no desire to shell out money for a system. If I was going to get a PSP it would have to be the same size or smaller than the GO, otherwise it's just too annoying to carry round. Success of handheld games machines is always limited (OK the DS is remarkable) due to the lack of phone/text applications, for most people there is no discernible reason to buy a PSP unless they have that taste for games. It's hardly the 'Whole world in your hands' as the adverts try to imply so really unless someone comes up with a device that can compete with model x of the iPod touch that boasts really good games, then the next batch of handhelds could struggle.
  13. I would suggest Crash Commando but you may have that already. It's good fun for a few days.
  14. I thought you could only use voice by making 'calls'. Choosing the person and then calling them. Probably wrong.

    Aha, love it.

    Borderlands

Managed to nab this today by spending BD money. Should be good. I'll probably learn the ropes to start with and then any PS3er that wants to start a new co-op character can join in.
  17. That video is awesome. Well made, really highlights how poor the conference was.
  18. I would barely reccomend it at that price. The original PS2 game is better by far. I won't be buying the CiT but the hover boots look like a good addition to make things a it faster paced. Too combat heavy, especially seeing as the formula is quite basic with minimal depth.

    Fallout 3

A friend asked me about that after recently buying it (I kinda forced them to) as well and I couldn't answer because I don't remember seeing that myself.
  20. Reminds me a bit about MGS4. Yes it's a great game but the acclaim it got definitely boosted my perception of it. When Yahtzee's review came out I thought that yes, I probably overlooked a lot of the problems because it was such a massive release. That game is still brilliant, but it's not a 10/10 game.
  21. I just finished the game after borrowing it off a friend, I can't say I was impressed by it. There wasn't much 'wrong' per se, but little of it felt fun or rewarding. The 4 main ability unlocks were basically just spammed immediatly after they were obtained and then used very sparsely throughout the asylums facilities. The game choked under the Unreal gas, nothing looked especially great and it was just a bit lifeless. Even though it is in a way a small exploratory environment, I found that the game was very linear unless you wanted to search for riddles which aren't compelling to find because they're all fairly gettable. If you're concerned with trophies I might see the appeal. I'm pretty sure there aren't any intricate puzzles or interesting crevaces I missed out on by ignoring the homogeneous 'riddles'. They could've at least made the effort to make each one unique in appearance ala Uncharted. The amount of vent covers that had to be ripped off was laughable, and I'm not sure what the draw was in having to smash so many walls with the explosive. Or in fact 'deciphering' security doors. Then there's the almost universal agreement about the bosses in the game, which lets face it, are barely substantial enough to qualify as bosses. Recycling is obviously a large part of rocksteady. Quite high on the annoyance meter also were the notices once you die that tell you what to do, coupled with the irritating wait as you sit through a mini cutscene for the 3rd or 4th time. Onto the good things, I enjoyed clearing out large rooms of enemies, especially where most of the guards are armed. The cool factor of inverted takedowns kinda wore thin by the end but general stealth action was enjoyable. As was the combat which was handled pretty well. It's hard to master and I still haven't fully got to grips with it so I'd call that a job well done. Then there's the fan service the game contains. The game has a great script for the most part and I appreciate the tapes and profiles included in the game, however I think this is probably why I've been so critical about the game because I must say, I'm not the greatest fan of Batman and don't know much about it. I feel reassured in saying that part of the reason why the game reviewed well was because many of the ratings came from fans of Batman. It's understandable that with all the hype the game had before release along with the actuality of the game not being crap like expected, the praise for the game was plentiful. It was above all clear to see that the developers had made a recognisable attempt. However I'm looking at it as a videogame and I think that it's just a 7/10 experience. My acceptance of videogames may be Wane-ing (sigh) and it's harder for each new title to cross the threshold seperating the good from the great. Maybe a couple of years ago I would have classified games like this and Infamous as great games, but I feel the standards have been raised by others over this time. Of course, I'm in a minority on this call, but we're all part of a minority with some of our opinions.
  22. It's part of the halloween weekend. Double cash rewarded, 2 'spooky' characters.
  23. Oh I thought the disc release was also for the PS3, my bad. I swear I read somewhere that the exclusivity was timed. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to miss out.
  24. I never bought GTAIV and wondered if it was worth getting this, seeing as the packs got a positive reception from the people that thought the main game removed a lot of fun (that could be found in Saints Row 2) required for the sandbox genre to work. When it falls in price I may have to dip in. Never been that interested in it but now they've downsized the content and seemingly upped the quality, well, it could appeal to me. Also, I'm doubtfull hoping the package has a platinum trophy. Or is it just a couple of silvers/bronzes?
  25. It's quite tense when you know an opponent has an explosive weapon. If they do you basically have to make a surprise attack on them or get an instant kill, like the above. I surprised myself with that, almost a reflex shot. As we said, the multiplayer revolves around finding the beefy weapons. And making good use of the camera.
