As Man Utd Fan, even I a gutted. Remember watching him guide Newcastle in some of their best years that I can remember in the Premiershio, and he always came across as a passionate manager who loved the game. Shame to know that hes gone.

Ah but this thread would be more clear and concise with an answer to the OP's initial question and less of the pointless bickering. I assume he likes his PC games?

And this is where you guys have gone wrong IMO. This thread was wether this gen was poor. What I derive from your words is that the answer to this is NO, its not poor, just not stellar. Who is this vast majority. The gamers gaming from previous generations or the newcomers. If it's the gamers, then I think you find they do care. If it's the newcomers, then I think you will find that they can still afford things but possibly not care enough to do so. I think gaming this gen has just broadened the access to gaming. At one time, 'it's for kids'. Another time 'it's for nerds'. And now its for everyone. As a kid I never used to get games myself as there was no way I could afford that stuff. It was my parents who would get them (at my request for a birthday) and this aspect has not changed. You can still quite happinly play many games offline, and there are free options too (PS3, PC *cough*). But for the older gamer out there, things have been streamlined, and more has been geared towards them. Rather than it being entertainment, I think it's all about attracting as many people to this industry as possible.

...isn't a 'refurb' a repaired PS3. They just repair it at their own leisure, or possibly actually send it to a third party that repairs it, while they send you one that has already been repaired. Like Blue Peter :awesome:

An intelligent informed post that is also concise, has no sourcing, and especially, comes from yourself Dante. Anyways, I may not play games as much as I used to, but damn have I been satisfied, for the most part, this gen. There are a few things missing, but I expect those to be filled out and accomplished over time, something that this gen seems to have in abundance i.e. the expected life time of these consoles.

I think you are focussing on the issues the consoles have rather than the quality of the games that have been produced this gen, and if so, then you are correct. This gen is poor for reliability, especially when you consider that last gen's stuff still runs perfectly outlasting what we have now. Also, they were created in a much more stable economic climate with less emerging technoligies (blu-ray and HDtvs) so companies had an easier time compared to now with spiralling costs, and some very differernt machines to cater for. Despite this great games have come and a great many are due, so I would argue that this gen could supercede (correct word?) the last for legendary status. Sorry had to type that quickly as lunch at work has ended so its not as complete as I would have liked.

I am the end of my warranty for my ps3, and the wii as well when I come to think about it! So yeah, dont' really have faith in their will to survive.

Jesus what an unreiable machine! Not a fanboy statement, as I strive not to be one, but I can't understand how people can buy this machine, living in the fear that it will almost inevitably break. Even as a ps3 owner, I live in this fear, as this machine has a fail rate that is not as low as would first appear but is somehow overshadowed by the xbox. I mean, it's already happened to Daft 2-3 times and Dwarf once as well as a few other people on these forums. everytime my ps3 crashes, I wonder if the next button press will determine if I need to fork out £150 to fix it. With my old fat ps2, I never had this problem and that is still going strong! Guess my point and question is, do you guys fear turning on your machine to have those three red lights tell you that death has come for your machine?

Ha i would but atm, blazblue and Wipeout are taking up the precious time i have for games. If you say it's a must have when you get it, then i'll consider it again.

TBH the screens are boring me now. I want to see some in game action, read some views on the gameplay, or just play the damn thing already.

Come on. You cant use that horrible controller for a game with this type of commands. Get it on the ps3! Makes perfect sense! It is my birthday pretty soon...but need to get ninja gaiden 2 and metroid prime in that window of oppurtunity too.....

I want KOF, I really do. Heck I even made this damn topic. But I have a) too many games and b) a few of them are fighters! And I want tekken more so something has to give...of course that means nothing if I see it at silly prices....

Funny thing is, I said that, then went and bought Gunstar Heroes (well it was for a friend that I owe money to) as well as two copies of Armoured 4: For Answer for 8.95 each (one for myself and again one for a friend) although I had to make that purchase as zavvi were having a 48 hr sale.

Ill get this when I feel that my addiction to PSN (i.e. the need to buy something when I dont feel like playing any of my current games) has reached its zenith. Spent WAAAAAAAAAAY too much money this summer.

One of the reasons I was tempted to get a 360. Now that leaves pretty much nothing as my PC can run the rest. Another game to burn my cash on.
