  1. ASIAN languages? Oh the HORROR! Seriously though, I fail to see the problem - so we end up living in a country that feature a variety of languages as well as English, where not everyone is white and whole streets are subjected to racial and cultural diversity. This is the future - we live in a globalised economy now, where communication is instantaneous, travel and migration easy and people of all races, creeds and backgrounds are required to interact with each other just to keep it all running smoothly. With a bit of luck there will be no such thing as countries eventually.
  2. It is a bit preamture to be judging Channels 4 content based on a single ad - Channel 4 has a good reputation of broadcasting purely the opinions of the documentary maker, and offers an excellent range of opinion (remember More4's "The Clown War" season?). Also I think a documentary is warranted, as there is vocal extremist minority in Islam in Britain which still needs to be addressed. I have yet to see anything from Channel 4 to warrant accusations of a propaganda campaign, least of all against British Muslims.
  3. This goes on the list of films I really don't want to see, along with Rocky 6 and Rambo 4.
  4. I've just wached a very good programme caled "Sharia TV" on Channnel 4 with a panel of various Muslim preachers, scholars and activitsts being asked questions about current events in Muslim britain. It was very good and balanced, and seemed to offer a good range of Muslim views within the panel. I would like to see more of this sort of thing in the future, giving Muslims and other ethnic, cultural and religous groups in the UK a balanced mouthpiece on more mainstream channels then the usual group of obscure evangelical cable shows.
  5. Powerpuff Girls A genuinly great, high-energy cartoon, and one of the few (I hope) animations to actually end up being stolen and butchered by the Japanese. Seriously, I had no idea it even worked in that direction.
  6. Powerpuff girls Z? EDIT: Scatrch that - I've just seen the promo on Youtube. What kind of Godless world IS THIS?
  7. A little stage fright is natural, but once you're up on stage your focus hits you, and each time after that is much less daunting. If your mates invite you to stand in I'm sure you're a good drummer. It'll be alright on the night.
  8. Luckily this should mean cheaper 939 socket processors for those of us already lumbered with older mobos. I only have a 3000+, which is enough for now but I am going to need an upgrade in the not-so-distant-future. Dual Core here I come!
  9. AM? That's just criminal.
  10. The Racoons The one big reason why we need to protect the worlds forests.
  11. This isn't a sassy remark, but my posts on this thread do seem to be emitting some kind of pheramone, subsequently attracting ultra-knowledgable-anime-types determined to leave their mark on my own less prodigous knowledge. (God forbid this continues into mating season.)
  12. They're not showing it, but I would definitly recommend Pom Poko - about a race of magical racoons who are forced to defend their forest home from development by utilising their transformation skills and "Racoon pouches". It is wonderfully weird, and is also generally well made.
  13. Captain Black was the man. THE Man. Of all the Anderson shows, Stingray had easily the best theme tune, and Marineville had the best warning siren, ever. "Standby for ACTION!" KAPLOOOOM!
  14. I agree, I just love Film Four. Mononoke, though not as good as Spirited is actually my personal fav, though I will wait until I've seen Nausicaa. Laputa is great too - it's characters and scenery is like Yorkshire on speed.
  15. Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy My word this is a good track.
  16. My nerdiness, analysed: 38% politics, 34% F1 racing, 19% Nintendo, 4% Warhammer 40k, 4% PC, 1% Star Trek
  17. It's a matter of taste really. The quality of the dub has generally been very good on most of the studio Ghibli films, so I'm quite comforatble with it, but there have been some pretty atrocious dubbings elsewhere. Yes, I have this one on DVD but I'll probably just watch it anyway. As a wise man once said, it's so good I crap my pants every time I watch it.
  18. Hmm, evidentally I stand corrected.
  19. From left to right - my mates Martin(ist) Johnny, Andrew, Ricky, and in the back my lil' bro Stan. Never will you find a more retched hive of scum and villainy.
  20. It's madness I tell you!
  21. As my good friend pointed out the other day, the scariest thing you will ever look at is a picture of an ENTRE GALAXY. It really does boggle the mind how big , weird and far away everything is, and tinsey-tiny we are.
  22. I despise beer - but I lurve whisky. I only drink it absolutely straight - any other way is just plain wrong.
  23. Yeah Kiki was great - though now I think back to Sabrina The Teenage Witch, (which was made AfTER) and can't help but draw some similarities...
  24. This is THE show opener - the music, the cuts, the random explosions - this isn't a TV programme, it's a god damn event!
