I'm asking for a decent online infrastructure and features, architecture similar to the other consoles (not necessarily power, but it has to be in the same ball-park) and aired open attitude toward online within their own games.

This looks great, I didn't own SF4 long before my 360 red-ringed and packed in so I'm looking forward to digging into this one and getting some decent game-time out of it.

Whoever is to get the job, I hope they have a more forward thinking attitude towards social gaming and online. Online isn't just about playing with strangers, online is also about playing with friends when you can't play locally... Nintendo seem to have not grasped this as of yet. They have to keep Nintendo's mantra of making games fun first and foremost but they should be more open to narrative-driven experiences and realise the need to diversify the catalogue of games they're releasing. Someone more reciprocative of 3rd Parties needs. I think they need someone from a more recent generation within the industry, one who better understands the gaming world of today but still has that core essence of Nintendo in their heart.

If anything, it would only be the multiplayer I'd be interested in.

One thing I can say for sure, after having done it twice now, is don't play Splatoon drunk... it's really bad for doing well! Haha

Yeah I played the last one, but I chose before it started so I wasn't sure if you could just not pick a side and then still pick the other game modes and game with friends normally. I'm not fussed about the sea snails. I've got the majority of gear I want, there's not much more I'd get so I don't feel I need anymore. Also, you can just use money anyway. I just hate how restrictive the game becomes when the Splatfest is on. Can only play the one game mode and you can't play with friends... it's shit.

I wonder, if you don't join the Splatfest can you play as normal or are you forced to play the Splatfest..? Ideally I'd not want to play because it's crap at how much you're restricted by the game. Unless they change the makeup of Splatfests as a whole I'd rather they didn't do them.

Yeah, I played a few games last night and with lag and my general frustrations with the game it just felt completely flat. I think I'll put other games on and get back into this after the big update. The game has waned on me now. It's such a shame, this game could, and should, have been so much better!

I'd say it sits as equal parts of fun and frustration with me at the moment. With the august update I'd imagine I'll enjoy it a lot more. I do switch it up and play with a variety of weapons (I always do on shooters) so I've used a lot of them so far... which also means I'm low on cash as I've bought a fair few, haha. Dependant on how I feel like playing the game I'll change weapons. I may well use everything from a charger to a blaster, the burst-fire gun to a roller in an evening... but there's something about the brush I really enjoy. I think its the risk of having to get up close and really hammer your opponent to splat them. It's ink coverage is fantastic too so you'll always do well with it. I tend to not get much coverage when using the chargers but I do focus more on splatting and locking down choke-points.

Everything is so much more difficult without voice-chat!

I thought about watching the original too. I'm really liking it, I don't think it's lost anything as of yet and is still great, so I'm hoping it doesn't drop off too.

I wholeheartedly agree. It's my favourite weapon to use (it's so much fun) but I'd like to switch things up with it like you can with other weapons. Even just a 3rd in the rotation would help. That they had 3 in for the Splatfest but then reverted back to 2 is so annoying! Another huge gripe of mine. Why they've decided to make the game so restrictive is beyond me. They're hopeless sometimes. They also desperately need to give us some slots where we can save different loadouts to change to whilst in the lobby. Nintendo took a few steps forward in creating this new franchise but then immediately they take a couple steps backwards by botching the options/functions within the game. It's far too restrictive and thin on content for a multiplayer game.

I hope the hunts have gone well guys. Next time there's room give me a shout.
