  1. Just watched that Animation video above, and I have to say the death animations look naff. You've got your physics there of course, but there's no weight in the limbs or the death animation as a whole. There was some very nice texturing in the first video though, especially when the player focused on the brick wall as there was some very good depth to the texture..............very realistic. Other than that though, it all seems a bit underwhelming, but Rare have got about another month and a half tops to iron out any flaws in which they see need tweaking.
  2. I received my Sony Ericsson K750i today from some delivery guy. I'm uber pleased with it at the mo, and I only paid £150 for it, instead of the £240 because of discount and stuff. Here's an image of tonights dinner taken with the camera on the phone.
  3. Yeah I rekon every Telewest customer in the know is afraid that this merger will affect the outstanding service in which we've all become used to over the years. Don't screw us over now Telewest after all your loyalty! (waits patiently for his 4Mbit upgrade)
  4. I would of recommended turning your TV off before you took the picture, because the glare has pretty much washed your image out. I've not got a camera to hand at the mo, but I'm expecting one in the post tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll put an image up then.
  5. Brilliant news. I can see Kuju's Brighton studio having a big interest in Revolution, cosidering they're behind Sony's Eyetoy:Play titles. Kuju for me are currently THE model independent games studio in the UK, and hopefully they'll stay independent for many years to come. Hopefully Nintendo will be working alot closer with them in the future on all fronts, and that's including possible DS titles.
  6. I played the multiplayer at GME, and it kicked arse...............and it wasn't even in a finished state then (graphical glitches). IGN gave it a 9.0, and recommended that if you like FPS then you should pick it up. If I had an Xbox, then I know I would.
  7. I wish I had a desk for my laptop.
  8. I read it in the Sun today. Really sickened by it. Signed.
  9. Is this aimed at Burnout by anychance?
  10. Because it's such a problem! I thought it was some sort of spyware.
  11. I also had this come up lastnite. I've got no idea what it is, but I cancelled it out.
  12. As of 2001, there were 259 Colin Ross's in the UK. I'm moderately rare then I suppose.
  13. I've always thought about making a thread like this, but like you said before, most of us always re-read whatever we've wrote and think nah, it's all aload of bollocks. Anyway, i think the most important basis of a thread is to include a question which can appeal to the widest audience. This thread is a perfect example of the above, and appeals to every member in some respect as we all have an opinion........... Maybe I just looked into this all abit too deeply...............great topic anyway.
  14. Wow, brilliant piece of work I think. You should be proud. And I managed to compress the video down to 8MB by using Premiere on it. If you want me to send it over by email, then give us a shout. How long have you been learning Lightwave for aswell?
  15. Trial/Learning 3D Software Download Links Autodesk Maya Personal Learning Edition Autodesk 3DStudio Max (30 day trial) SOFTIMAGE XSI: Foundation Edition (30 day trial) Blender (Windows) Blender (Mac OS X) Wings3D (subdivision modeller) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please bare in mind the following: Constructive critique is valued, as it's always welcome.......so don't be afraid to suggest something If you're linking to a piece of your work in video form, then please compress the file, as I doubt anyone wants to wait for a 50MB download and only to find out the actual clip is 10 seconds long (tutorials on this will be posted in the next few weeks or so) This section will be updated over time to ensure a smooth ride. A quick note and a thankyou I would also like to add, that this has been the most successful 3D thread yet throughout the whole C-E/R-E history to my knowledge, so I would like to thank each and everyone of you that's contributed to this thread in anyway.............and hopefully this will be only the beginning. Keep it up guys! If anyone's got any suggestions for this area then feel free to mention them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- So here we are again, re-creating this thread for all those users with an interest in 3D modelling. I hope those of you that have mentioned the creation of this thread previously on these new forums the other week will stick by your word and keep this thread updated with any of your latest creations, questions, and just general techniques/theories which can push your renders to their maximum potential. Last week I started back at college for my second year in the course that I'm taking, and on the Thursday one of our lecturers told us that we would be starting Maya in a more in-depth fashion. So he took the class through modelling with CVs, and finally took the class onto rigging a basic model ready for animation. In class we made a Seal, and put in a spinal bone structure so it could pivot it's head up & down, and also rotate left/right. This was done to a very basic degree, and over time we'll be looking into these stages in alot more depth. So today at home, I created a basic structure of a Swan, and again implemented a spinal structure. The wireframe of the bone structure is below, and an animated gif of it being animated is displayed after. Anyway, if you've got any shiznit you want to post, then go ahead and don't be afraid of demonstrating your skills, whether they be beginner or professional.
  16. As far as I know, Elspa don't publish the actual figures like Media Create and NPC, they only publish the titles respective positions. Apparently this may be changing soon though from what I've heard. Your best bet is to go straight through NOE to get the figures, but you'll most likely have to demostrate to them the purpose in which you want them for. Hope that helps kinda.
  17. Jet Force Gemini was one of my most favourite games when I had my N64. I also recommend that you pick it up. The soundtrack to that game kicks arse aswell, and still stands tall to this very day. And yes, Pokemon Snap was a brilliant piece of gaming on a cartridge. My little sister got it for Christmas one year, and she loved it so much........although I rivalled her for the amount of play time on it. Just make sure you go and pick up all the usual suspects in which people have posted above. Especially games like Majoras Mask, Blast Corps, Lylat Wars, Space Station Silicon Valley (made by the original GTA team I believe), and F-Zero...........you won't be dissapointed by any of these games.
  18. Now we can all live in an equal world.
  19. I totally agree aswell, and had the exact same thought today.............it's nearly as bad as the post system in someways. This place has been opened little over a week, and I see peoples repitoire up around the 20-25 levels already. I mean, how many positive comments to you need until your rep level is bumped up aswell? I've had a few people give me rep, but tbh I can see people talking on IRC/MSN/PM's and asking people just to bump them up with rep points.
  20. I play it, but I kind of suck at it. But I would be up for a game at somepoint.
  21. Well I'll still be on these forums for years to come most likely...........and I doubt you're going anywhere aswell. Let me know how it goes, either over msn or by PM's or something............just drop me a random line at somepoint in a few months if you remember.
  22. I may see you next year if all goes well for me, as I'll be starting that course if I get into Lincoln. If you could let me know how the course pans out aswell it would be a great help to me.
  23. These two made me laugh quite abit. :awesome: http://rainybeetle.zippyvideos.com/148258005683235/dolmio4/*rainybeetle http://rainybeetle.zippyvideos.com/9876951521111266/dolmio8/*rainybeetle

    New Mobile

Appears to be quite a shithot phone. I'm just going to your experience with it JonSt, as just plain badluck really. I'll go ahead and get it, and then even if there is a problem I can swap it if it's within a year. What did exactly go wrong with the phone anyway? And if you're looking for a good phone, you should check out the Nokia 6230i aswell...........as it's ment to be quite a swish phone. http://www.mobile-review.com/review/nokia6230i-en.shtml

    New Mobile

Hmmmm, you've made me worried now. I've just put one on reserve with Virgin Mobile, as I get uber discount with them. Getting it for £149, instead of £229 at the end of the month when I get paid. What's gone wrong with the phone then? As reviews suggest that it's the best phone out there at the moment on the market until the new Nokias arrive next year. Also, I'm just wondering if the 2MP camera is any good? Cheers
