I didn't know there was a wait? I'm already on episode 18 here!
-
I do remember that actually.................but I still stand by what I said. Anyway, some idiot has bumped this thread up from lastyear, so we should leave it to lay to rest.
-
And it'll be marketed as a Revolution launch title aswell I rekon. Gamecube is dead...........lets face it.
-
I was at work today, and the whole Virgin chain has got just over 1000. My store is getting in 20 units, and we've also had no pre-orders on it. Them numbers are alot more than what I was originally expecting. It seems like there won't be a shortage straight away, but once the initial shipment sellout then you won't be able to find them till the end of the year, like someone said above.
-
Kinda off-topic, but I think I'm going to do the exchange/refund thing with Phoenix Wright aswell, as I just can't see myself playing it again. I've got my Guitar Hero on pre-order with amazon, and I'm just hoping that they deliver it on the Friday. (seems like forever aswell that I pre-ordered it) Roll on Friday! :awesome:

Telewest Birmingham: Rejoice Speed updates are done!!
Colin replied to CompSci's topic in General Chit Chat
Telewest have never had download limits...........and I doubt they'll change that now even after the NTL merger because they'll get a big backlash from certain customers. And I agree with you about the upload speeds, they can always be improved. -
Rendered in ****** 3d per ******** That's all I've got so far. I'm bored anyway at the mo, so reason why I even bothered. Edit - Check out GAF, it's like a bomb has hit or something in the thread there. haha
-
I've got no idea then either if it's not the PSU or the fan. And Andrew is right about the lights, they don't need to be on at all.........but I'd suppose they would help ya to know if your comps functioning properly. I smacked my families computer the otherday and since then the lights haven't been working...........I'm in no rush to fix it though.

Ashley - I did some research, and it appears the place of origin comes from both where the film was financed and where it was shot. Examples:- Lord of the Rings - USA/New Zealand Lost In Translation - USA/Japan Got the old film studies book out and researched the Harvard System abit. ........but yeah, like Ashley said, prob could just skip that bit.
-
Either powersupply or fan. Simple as I rekon.
-
I did Film Studies for A Level, and we were told that the films origin comes from where it was financed. Like Lost In Translation for example was filmed all in Japan, but it's a US made film.
-
This looks well interesting. I started learning Japanese when I attempted A levels at school, but quit as had to try and focus on other subjects. I may want to join up during easter if possible? As having a basic understanding in Japanese would be nice to chuck on a CV for any potential employer. Brilliant idea aswell darkcloud.............as then everyone is kinda spurring eachother on.

This is such a mission....... I've just found out that one of the LCD metal hinges was broke aswell (unless I broke it while opening it. I'm taking some images on my phone while doing it, so I'll upload at somepoint. Not totally finished yet, as having trouble removing a few things. This is the guide I'm following Edit - Just got to the intake fan/main fan, and its clogged with dust. I'm guessing I clogged it up before by moving the dust with the compressed air. ---------------------------------- Next Post Final image shows what actually came out of that single fan, and that was what was clogging the fan and not letting it rotate and move. And there's my cpu and HD temperatures now. Well impressed that I managed to do this myself without fucking my laptop. Everything was in pieces, and there were times that I thought I'd screwed something up. I fixed the metal hinge with super glue aswell, so it should now hold. I also fired up CS Source and played that for a while, and temp didn't even go above 50'. Just saved myself alot of money, as I was going to send it off to get repaired as my warrenty ended a few months back................. PS........keep your fans clean, and never use your laptop on your bed!
-
Typical P4 huh! And that's the temp of it when its clocked to level2 out of 4. That's what I'm thinking has happened. But with my laptop, I'll have to undo the whole thing and put it into bits. Anyone got any idea how long typically it would take to put a laptop in bits, as I may attempt this evening? Cheers for the replies aswell

Right, I've got a Pentium 4 based laptop, so it's quite prone to being very hot. But yesterday I cleaned out the fans/vents with compressed air, and now it seems like the laptops big fan isn't working. Current average temperatures are sitting at 74' for the processor, and 44' for the HD. Are these temps far too hot, or am I just worrying? It's also shut itself down twice since I cleaned the fans/vents by overheating I believe. Any ideas of how I can check if the laptops cooling fan isn't buggered, as the fan underneath hasn't turned on once since I did the clean out?

The reason for the CD based games was more because of audio soundtracks (possibly streaming video aswell, not sure on that one though). Compression techniques now can easily reduce the size of the soundtracks, and Sony will probably end up taking a similar route with their PS1 game downloads for the PSP.
-
I think the site that's reported this story above has misunderstood what they are saying. Looks like it'll mean cd based Turbo Grafx games can actually be compressed to a size that's feasible for online download and for storage using the revs flash memory. I hope Nintendo upgrade the standard flash memory size from 512 to 1Gb, as more will definitely be needed.

Looks like I've missed loads around here! (That's an angry with myself for not finding time for this thread) I've been real busy with college work recently since Christmas...........but I've finally got something worthy to show. And its a character of some sort aswell! This is just a a college assignment which finished up not long ago.....I think I mentioned it before.......but anyway, we had to do a tribute to Aaardman Animations Creature Comforts but with a 3D model instead of stop-motion. I'll try and get the final video up at somepoint soonish. ----------- Darkcloud - I love that massive city of yours. Looks like you had a pretty intensive modelling session there with that aswell. The first image in your posting of that looks awesome. Brilliant lighting aswell. Bogbas - That's a well good attempt, considering it's your first render aswell. I don't think I managed anything like that in my first couple of attempts at stuff. Matt - Nice cloth there, and real good flow aswell. Good to see a few other people join this thread with learning Blender aswell........especially when some of you are still doing GCSE's, I mean these programs are really quite complicated and they definetly take some dedication. I hope some of you keep at it, as sometimes it can really feel like you're getting nowhere with it.............but once you render something you've put alot of time into, you kind of look back and just think "yessssssss" in your head that you've now got something you're real proud of. (I hope that makes sense in someway). I recently got accepted for 3D Games Art at Hertfordshire Uni, but then they let me know that they primarily use Max. So looks like I'm going to have to join all the Max users here, and slowly move over from Maya. My next piece of work will hopefully be a car that I'm working on. There's a wip image on my site if anyone wants to check it, but it's nothing really so far. Just wish I had more time for all this at the mo. Darkcloud - Soz about not updating the video compression programs. I'll try and get that done aswell, as I would love to see a video of your city. What format video does Max render out as aswell?

It's no more legal than using a torrent. All it is, is a different distribution method. Bit Torrent technology is not illegal itself, only the content in which is being shared is. Reason why certain ISP's in the future will be taking up the method to distribute legal content at fees to their customers. I've watched the ep, and found it quite ammusing...........but nothing outstanding. The R Kelly bits made me crack up though, aswell as the typical american "I'll sue your ass" at the end. Edit - Just watched Return of Chef aswell. Brilliant episode. Somehow I just get the feeling that when the tribute is being read out at his funeral it kind of seems like another dig at Issac Hayes and Scientology.............but why would I care. Go watch if you haven't already.
-
There's always torrent sites though. And I think that's a fair enough use of the system if it's not going to be broadcast again.
-
Yeh, I just had a quick look around. No filming is allowed until 5mins after keynote finishes. IGN say they'll have a live transcript up though.
-
Anyone know if there'll be a direct feed anywhere? There usually isn't for GDC, but it's worth asking right?
-
That's what I would have thought aswell. Usually the university itself would have industry contacts to outsource any students who want to take that work placement option in the third year. Maybe it depends on the uni, but it's a known fact they should be helping in someway or another.
-
Sounds like you need to define abit more on what you want to get into first, as you seem unsure. Once you've done that, get a list of as many companies as possible (be prepared for most being rejections than offers), and post out CV's with accompaning letters.

For me it has to be Nvidia aswell.......purely because of the better OpenGL support. I've now put my purchase of a new laptop on hold until the 7900 Go is available in Sept/Oct.
