Judging from your FF7 thread, it became apparent that when people did argue into a hole, and left you with no answers, you retaliated to immature points and debate killing antics. NAmely resorting to the fanboy card when all was lost. You're interesting to debate with or whatever, but the truth is you're just arrogant. You can't seem to just admit when you're wrong (which has been a few times tongiht), and seem unable to appreciate different peoples opinions. Oh well, people will get bored of replying to you soon enough anyway.

What if they made Final Fantasy VII remake for Wii?

Well, this debate ended pretty poorly. Erm, yeah. Should I get Final Fantasy III for DS? Might try and rekindle some of the love I once had for the franchise. -

What a terrible question, the fact is it has an online mode. I probably wouldn't have bothered if it was offline-only, but it's not. They made it fully online compatible and thus made it more then just a crappy, rushed, poor cash in spin off. It's a good game that people are still playing 3 months launch. Would you have bought Gran Turismo if it didn't have cars? -
I think it's just the drought getting us down, I was very much the same until Wednesday when I bought a DS with Pokemon. It's just reminded me of how great Nintendo games still are when they get things right, and now it's got me hyped for a Wii line up I can see more games then I have free time for. I do think Super Paper Mario should help get you hyped again for the Wii line up, I know Pokemon has done just that for me. I would love a 360 and it has got some games I want, but I know I won't ever have the time to play it, and it's completely pointless when the Wii and DS have more games then I have time for. So yeah, I'd say risk buying Super Paper Mario and from there on you should be hyped, if the WIi is still boring by xmas then you could easily ebay it for profit (bound to be sold out during Xmas) and get a 360, but I know personally I will be more concerned about if I have enough time to play all the games I want .

Hey, you didn't like it, but it got a great reception from critics and seems to have a large online fanbase who would quickly disagree with you. I think Gran Turismo is crap, doesn't make it a bad game though does it? -

You can't really criticize any of Sony's games to be spin offs though (minus the Sing Stars). They just churn out the main series games a bit too quickly. However, I'm sure Sony would make spin offs, if any of their franchises were big enough or memorable enough to justify it. They were a bit guilty of it on PSP though, spin-off wise. -
Super Paper Mario looks good I think, I haven't played the previous Two (I keep meaning too but can't ever get around too it). The new one shouldn't be taken as a sequel though, just a completely new adventure which will probably be enjoyable, but albeit pretty short and simple. Apparently it has lots of replay value though. Metroid Prime 3 is probably hit or miss, I wouldn't be too worried anyway as Phantom Hourglass should fill the gap between October and Mario Galaxy. And yeah, I'd love to have a 360 / ps3, hell I could afford one easily, but I'd never have the time to play them and the Wii and DS are much cheaper for my gaming fix. No doubt I would have had a 360 by now if I had as much time as I used too. I would imagine the Wii-DS combo is enough for me now anyway, there's too many games coming out once Super PAper Mario kicks things off.

You don't get what I'm saying. Nintendo still whore Mario, yes, but they seem to have a quality control which most other companies don't. Post-N64 and Gameboy, has there really been any bad Mario games? Only the Mario Party's stick out for that category and even they were pretty good until they reached about 5ish. The Mario Sports arn't bad games which slap Mario on to sell, they're good games which are worth the money (the ones I've played anyway), whereas all the Sonic spin offs tend to be horid games as well. I do wish Nintendo made some more new IP's or whatever, but you can't exactly say criticise the quality of the Mario games, just the quantity. -
I might wait till I'm done with Phantom Hourglass, but then it wouldn't give me much time between Mario and Metroid :/. Maybe I'll end up leaving Phantom hourglass then, I'm never gonna have time for all these games . Should sort out these so called droughts though, come next summer.

Hey, I honestly don't care about Final Fantasy anymore. The DS had some poor spin offs too which put me off, and the GameCube one. And I'm pretty sure most of them spin offs are from about 10 years ago, I don't see any of the Mario Party's there, non of the Mario Sports, nothing relevent to the discussion at the moment which is about the present. It's a bit foolish to compare the Nintend of the 90's to the Nintendo of today, in many ways. -

Well funnily enough, I enjoyed the Mario spin off's I played. It's not like any of them end up scoring as badly as stuff like Dirge of Cerberus, or Sonic Riders. I'm not saying Nintendo don't do it, I'm just saying for the most part they seem to have some quality control where other companies don't. -

When the games are utter tripe - yes. SE seem to be the only ones capable of slaughtering their franchises though. Oh, and SEGA. -
I don't know, it's never really worked in the past for them (minus Rare's great games), but it's also very difficult for them to just find a developement team who are skilled enough and free to do so. They've outsourced quite alot of games in the past and non have really been as good as anything made in-house, so I don't think it would help solve this guys problem. I do think it's important Nintendo try and pick up a few more new IP's exclusively to it's system though. Games like Mushroom Men and Sadness are by new indie developers who I'm sure Nintendo could get 100% commitment from if they tried to set up a relationship, but then we don't really know what happens behind the scenes anyway. With Retro Studio's now working on a new IP, and Monolith owned by Nintendo I think Nintendo have a large enough amount of studio's to get along fine. The third parties seem to be on there way too.
-
And this is supposed to bother me how? I listed the DS ones to emphasise that Nintendo are doing more then just catering for one console (and cause I own a DS). But so what they're not exclusive? Does that mean you're not going to buy them or something? Seriously what the hell were you trying to suggest :S. The list was lacking alot more games released around this time frame, but yet to have 100% definite release dates.
-
Well, I think Nintendo are purposefully being secretive on their 2008 line up as they want the focus entirely on Metroid, Mario and Smash Bros's. However, I think Pikmin 3, that forgotten Kirby Game, Animal Crossing and the 'new IP' from Nintendo are all going to be some of the bigger games in the 2008 line up. There's that Monster Lab game too, and we know quite a few of early 2008.
-
It's always great to see some good games for 2008, the line up for that is still a bit empty although will take shape sooner to the time. This is the sort of game the Wii needs, it's all original and different .
-
It all takes off in September, I mean I'm looking at 3 games a month from then on in. September - Super Paper Mario, MySims, Heroes of Mana. October - Metroid Prime 3, Phantom Hourglass, FIFA 08 November - Super Mario Galaxy, Dragon Blade, RE:UC, Rayman Raving Rabids 2, Mario and Sonic at the Olympics. December - Zack and Wiki. I mean, they've still not fully annouced the line up of games and we could see plenty more added to that, but my God I've got alot of gaming to do. Yeah, it's been weak so far but from September onwards it's an onslaught (And don't think it slows down after Christmas, far from it!).
-
I still can't tell what I think of this game. On one hand it's the sequel to a pretty big franchise, it's exclusive, got a lovely art style and the original was great. On the other, it's being made by Sonic Team and the graphics seem a bit lazy and rushed, which I hope doesn't represent the whole package. So yeah, I guess time shall tell, with such a hectic release schedule well into Q2 2008, I don't think I'll have time for this but if it surprises reviewers and the like then who knows?

It's all well and good saying Nintendo should be telling third parties how to unlock the best in their system, how to do all these graphical techniques and stuff, but the truth is, are any of them actually going to listen? I mean, at the moment alot of them all seem keen on the mentality that a Wii game can be made on the lowest budget possible and graphics can be forgotten as important, which well, is probably correct looking at sales. I'm pretty sure people like EA and Ubisoft don't care if their games don't look as good as Nintendo's, provided they can cut their developement spans and costs in half by doing so. However, the Wii is really starting to build up a third party library of good games, many of which use great and vivid art styles, the sort of which I've really been hoping to see. I think we're seeing some third parties step up and be ready to compete, while others still try and flog the visuals in games like Nitro Bike and Cruis'n. I think by the start of early 2008 the competition will be too much for games which are clearly a rushed cash in. Much praise to companies like THQ, Capcom, EA (sort of), Grasshopper, Konami and Square Enix who are stepping up their Wii budgets already. (there's quite a few more too, mind you.) -

Not really, they change small bits of the whole battle / leveling system but they all end up with the exact same foundations. I know they sort of change them but the whole package still feels the exact same. I guess I'm just bored of Final Fantasy now. -

jammy2211 replied to Falcon_BlizZACK's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Apologies, but the idea of final fantasy twelve still being classed as original, when the truth is it's built on the exact same formula that they made games on 20 years ago is foolish. Everyone I know is getting bored of the final fantasy's now, I mean, Square have had 20 years to try and make another RPG that can be classed nearly as good as FF and they've failed every time. (Dragon Quest is owned by Enix). They've remade about 6 Final Fantasy's now, and are planning on going through the Dragon quest's next, and then God knows what. I guess I'm just bored of all this RPG nonsense nowadays, as it seems the exact same as when I became a fan of it about 12 years ago. I seruously hope someone other then SE comes along and shakes up the RPG genre in some crazy way, cause it's going stale now and SE don't seem bothered enough to try change it. -

How about they stop remaking games and actually do something original for a change over at SE? Seriously we don't need any more remakes, I'm still waiting for someone to make an RPG combat system which uses the Wii Remote well. There's so much potential there so why isn't anyone using it :/.
