It's not perfect, but I love the production, and the "oomph" of it. Don't go in expecting dance hits, there's none. It's thumping, well produced, rockier stuff. A few clunkers like her collaboration with Slash, and a song called Te Amo, but a lot of cool "dark" (for a chart pop star who not too long ago did songs like Pon De Replay and S.O.S etc) lyrics and sounds. Heavily influenced by her beating situation earlier this year, lots of focus of violence, sexuality and "crime" or something. Which I appreciate. Chris Brown's new album seems to be just the standard bounch of rnb shite for the charts, ignoring what happened, but I like how she's incoporated something very personal into a new style shift (that none of her peers are doing, and that isn't particularly gonna get her big sales). My faves are Wait Your Turn, G4L, Russian Roulette and Fire Bomb.

Started painting at college today. Semi-hate it. I'm painting in oil directly onto a kitchen unit door. Day dragged, last 1 and a half was just me checking my watch every two minutes. Tired out and had a headache from the sexually innapropriate woman who never wears a bra on my course doing some shit with sawdust and diamonds beside me (dust being inhaled etc). Then had to go see Twilight again with my sister. It was worse than last time, I realised I hated Edward Cullen even more, and that the dialogue was ridiculous(er) than last time. Had a few micro-sleeps toward the end.

Do it first to last, seriously, Slaggis. Scarlet's Walk was her last great one, and really once you listen to all the ones up to that, you'll see why her last few are so dissapointing. Very overproduced and just lacking.

A friend showed me it a while ago, but I sortof hoped it wouldn't gain any recognition. It's by Jason Derulo (never heard of before this song). It's very lazy, sampling the bit that's recognised by people even if they don't know the song is Hide and Seek (used in some TV show, and then SNL). Plus point is that Hide And Seek itself is/was last time I checked in the chart (at least the iTunes one), presumably because of Watcha Say.

The album grows on you really quickly, Chair (Fame Monster). Monster, Dance In The Dark were like "..." when I first listened, but soon enough you learn to love. DITD is probably the most obvious next single. I like Alejando enough, but hate the starting bit and the chorus (compared to the verses/production). I dislike Speechless. It seems pastiche-y. -- Listening to the New Moon soundtrack, which is amazing, compared to the film it scores. Come on Thom Yorke , tell me more Lykke Li.

Don't you find it so annoying though. Cause when you read it, it's like you're stumbling over the end of the sentence, rather than it flowing properly. It's a sudden-stop that sounds and looks wrong.

I'm quite hairy, my little beard comes back quite quickly, and I have hair all over. Although I have some strange mutant condition of my body hair being different colours depending on where it is. My leg hair and a lot of my arm hair is almost blonde, or at least very light. The rest of my body hair is brown.

Album that's exceeded all expectations, and really blew me away; Her new one, that I expected to find interesting, but probably irritating/unmelodic/pointless etc. I'm all for experimentation and diversity, but some of her stuff left me very cold in the past. But this is brilliant! I think it might be going back to the Plastic Ono band...her purely "solo" stuff was always a bit shrill and brittle. This is lush as hell and just brilliant. Anyone who's heard her stuff and doesn't like her voice, give this a listen, it's perfect here, works greatly. The instrumentation is what makes it I think. But yeah, recommendation/one of my albums of the year I think.

I started watching the original Solaris (and I love long-drawn out films, or at least, I have an attention span that appreciates them for what they are), but got bored/tired like a quarter in, and haven't gotten around to finishing it. I will, but it's so low on my agenda.

If I was offered the chance to change everything about myself, I would. Appearance, mindset, problems, things I got lucky with etc. Dunno if that came out right, but people say that's sad/depressing when I say that and they say "oh my nose i hate it!!" or "I have bony ankles" or something.

Really? It's a really awful song, not even in a awful-but-enjoyable/catchy way. Just a failure on all accounts. Fresh Out The Oven is much better, but still a bit pretty shite. It has more snap though. The video gives me a headache.

Oh yeah, just remembered. I HATED the SuBo crisis earlier this year, thought it was disgusting how everyone was like "Oh wow, she's so ugly and a freak but she can sing AAWWWW! = media sensation" all out of proportion and just...hideous behaviour. I had nothing against her voice (she seemed good, but not worthy of the attention she got). The other night I listened to clip of a cover from her album (because I know and love the original) and was unimpressed, lacking in emotion, quite bad etc. But I really thought her performance of Wild Horses tonight was brilliant. I was ready to dismiss it as boring/nice, but it was exquisite. The way she sang the word "wild". I'm semi-eating my words, but I never said anything bad about her, it was more everyone jizzing over her I was annoyed with. She is apparently a genuine mental patient though, my uncle said he and some other staff at Queen Margaret's (a uni/college in Edinburgh) had to ban her from the premises after she kept sneaking into lectures/classes a few years back. But yeah. Was left precariously over the edge.
