I didn't even know Cheddar was a place.

That's why it just feels like X3 is a big bundle of wasted potential. It was THE movie to have the team fight as one finally, but no, Cyclops is dead (hate hate hate), and the people they're fighting are so generic it actually ruins the film for me. All those random jumping mutants? Um..no. Too many plotlines going on etc. ARGH. I don't get all the SR hate/I do, but I think it's unwarranted. Stylistically, it's wonderful. It's such a finished whole, with all the elements working well together. It's a very nice change from the "standard" Superhero movie of this decade, being all fast-paced and explosion-driven. But X3 is just quite clearly a badly put together film. It's all awkward and things just don't sit right at all. To compare it to Superman Returns is ridiculous (IMO).

I just X-Women out of morbid curiosity. It's everything I hate. Claremont-written exploitative dross. Milo Manara or whatever seems to be lauded, but his work here is at best okay, and usually stupid/laughable. It's soft-core/hinted pornographic intent is just silly. Everyone in thongs/tiny skirts with the wind constantly blowing them upwards, people having normal conversations with backs arched, lips apart, gazing longingly into each other's eyes, the X-women finding themselves holding each other in compromising ways etc. Shiiiiiit.

It's just incredibly dense. I need to finish series 1. I stopped watching it because it was so intensive, but it's definitely astounding stuff.

Also, We3 is great, a single story not connected to anything else.

X2 is the "best", in that it felt like an accurate translation of what the X-men are about/"what they do" in the comics, to screen. It was the best paced, and overall the most deftly directed.

I too hate onions in everything except certain kinds of Onion Rings. When the onion is all mashed up inside. I can't bear it when it's just a literaly ring cut from an onion and battered.

All-Star Superman Spider-Man: Reign Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth JLA: Year One Technically self-contained, but 24 issues long is The Sword, which I was recommended here, and was great. It's one complete story.

I know, I would have gone to a normal/independant comic shop. I just feel really guilty about reading loads..elsewhere. I suppose I do spend lots of money on comics in trade form, but yeah. I'm over it already.

I mean there'd be a chance of lynching mafia that the group may as well take, accepting sacrifices for that chance. As opposed to letting the mafia kill one of us first. But as I say, I'm not a huge fan of this tactic. Usually a townie is killed off due to this and it seems a bit unfair on them.

ReZ (and anyone else who buys comics every week), how much do you usually spend per week on individual comics? I buy a lot of trades now, but I feel rude not buying issues of some things. They are, however, incredibly expensive (compared to the Uk editions, which are 2 years or so behind, but so worth the price), at least in places like Forbidden Planet.

The soles of feet, and really close-ups of fingertips. *shivers at the thought*

We could do the "Chair" method, in which we randomly lynch someone/anyone, just cause there's more of a chance of lynching mafia (obviously), than if we did nothing. And if we didn't, the mafia effectively get to hit us first at night. That said, we'd probably just kill one of the town. Vote: No Lynch

I think Cyclops and Jean was the best casting, personally. And Rogue was good for her characterisation in the movie. Jean was the only character I was compelled by.

I hereby decree that the following video wins the thread: It's so simple and concise. No sign of chaff. It's the Single Ladies video of the cartoon intro world.

Ones from past and present off the top of my head: "Stunning" "Tart" "You think I'm an ignorant savage, don't you?" "Essential" "Of course." "I'm going to be sick" (When something good happens) "I wish I was dead" Various phrases made up on the spot about "trannies". Like "All trannies go to heaven". And things like that. etc etc Either made up or appropriated from friends. Chair and I generally share the same ones. Though I was in awe of his most recent creation; "R. L. Stun".

X-Men is amazing. I have the theme tune on my iPod. The best though aesthetically will always be: Oh my god. I forgot all about that. My favourite. *lies on the floor remembering better times*

Same, my legs would looks much hairier if the hair itself was darker. I just find it bizarre that I have different coloured body hair...on my forearms, if you look, some hairs are black, some are white/blonde. Legs too a little, but not as much contrast. My eyebrows, chest and downstairs are all dark brown.

That's my aunt's favourite film. I was meant to watch it last year, but forgot.

I watched The Fountain (early). I think I'll save my review for the 3rd though, just to keep things organised.

I don't wash my hair everyday, mainly because it's at it's fluffiest and most atrocious when completely dry. A day or so later it's much more tameable.

This summer, my sister and I have been trying to work lines from Mean Girls and Clueless into daily conversation with other people. Yeah, it's funnier if you're us. My personal favourite; "..Sweatpants are all that fits me right now."

I don't shave for ages, then do and I hate it. But then I look better when it's grown back a little. I just have this fear of looking like a child I think. Also I think since my facial hair is inexplicably mostly blonde (I have alternating brown and blonde hair all over my body) that people notice it less (as opposed to if it were black). Which may or may not be true. But I'm over it. I don't want to shave down below. I think that's weird. I cut it once. In my life.

I love the goose/swan with the trumpet. From a different franchise, but loves being a Pokemon now.

I can't think of just 3, and there's one that stands out above the rest. Björk as Selma Jezkova (Dancer in the Dark, Lars Von Trier, 2000) Even if I had never heard of her/hated her music, this is still the most powerful film performance I've ever seen. The awareness that you're "Watching a film with actors playing roles" is gone during this film, making her performance seem real, and as a result, leaves you feeling a little bit broken at the end. Actually, another tour-de-force performance that always remains in my head is Laura Dern as Nikki Grace (Inland Empire, David Lynch, 2007) Her performance is astonishing in it's range/what it covers throughout the film. On the male side, I keep thinking about Requiem For A Dream/Jared Leto, but I can't be sure as the person I lent the DVD to hasn't given it back, and I think I'm thinking of the film itself as opposed to him. Maybe River Phoenix in My Own Private Idaho. But I have to think about that more/see it again. EDIT: Also like...everyone in Million Dollar Baby.
