  1. I will seek out Mysterious Skin. And Brick is one that is on my list, so it's fine. --- I wouldn't mind a teaser at the end of Rises or something, Bruce briefly mentioning he was going to the circus or something, and the tickets saying Flying Graysons on it. As long as nothing is made of it in the film.
  2. That's not symmetry. I have a feeling you knew that though, and like a fool I'm correcting you. effemell
  3. "A heart so tru. Our courage will pull us thru."
  4. 500 Days of Summer, Inception and 10 Things I Hate About You (but I barely that film or the fact he was in it so that shouldn't count). I don't mean "plays the same character" the way Michael Cera does, more like..he has the exact same prescence in those films. Fair enough, it is only two films...
  5. Just watched this. I love. Felt really like "...Here it is. Let's just deal with drug use well and interestingly." Really hard to get a grasp on whilst watching, but when you think about it properly, you get it. I enjoy when things leave bits out and let you construct the story/treat the audience as vaguely intelligent. I loved the Philip K. Dick quote at the very end too. Made me well-up a little bit (which is strange as the actual film didn't elicit such a reaction in me) I love Winona.
  6. Hold it againt me.
  7. I heard in a different article she'll be a vigilante at night, a high-powered executive by day.
  8. I love usurping a joke and doing it well. You're the best, Retro. -- JGL is alright, but I feel like he's been the same character in all I've seen him in, which admittedly isn't a lot. Please no Riddler ffs though. I dunno if the studio will be brave enough to actually break Batman...it would be shocking/stunning if they did though.

I think the video is fantastic, and hope more fun, old-fashioned videos like this are made. Most vids now are just adverts for products that are paying to be featured, slow-mo shots and inspid love scenes. This wears it's influences on it's , but they're good influences so it's fine. EDIT: And now the inevitablhy controversy has started: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1657144/rihanna-s-m-video-banned.jhtml tldr; Banned in 11 countries, flagged as over-18 only on Youtube, radio stations not playing the song before 7pm etc.

California King Bed would be cheesy (and it's my least fave) but it's pulled off so well, it's fine. Stupid In Love is a very clumsy, and ones like Wait Your Turn (which I really like) come off a bit clunky. And while I enjoy Rockstar 101...it comes off as a bit "...really?" - LUCKILY she delivers it well. Loud is such a great like...culmination of the past 5 albums. The Bajan influence and pronounciation (which she should have really) from her earlier albums back in brill songs like Raining Men and Man Down, the darkness of Rated R on Skin...it's very well rounded.
  11. Well not "what happens", but more what he was trying to get across/the symbols etc. This was a lot more obtuse than Mulholland Drive, with an unforgiveable pace. I like the fact his films encourage exploration aftert the fact.
  12. Robyn win. Routine loss. Start a music career. That's what I'm doing these days. Or take up photography/climbing/Ice dancing/drugs.
  13. I Love You Philip Morris is actually a brill suggestion - it's very hard to classify and has that "This is out of the mainstream" feel, whilst still having the hollywood sheen that is always appealing. I just finished watching Lost Highway for the first time (better than I expected from the first half). I'm too scared to comment since I actually have no idea what went on. It may be a Mulholland Drive job, several repeat viewings. It has a fantastic poster though:

S&M is I won't hear a word against it. :p Rated R's flaws/cringey lyrics and stuff just shine though more obviously now we have the concise, precise Loud. I still like it a lot though. Photographs seems to be the most hated song on it by fans, but I wuite like it. Even if it is typical Will.I.Am. But yeah some brilliant non-single songs on there (same on Loud though imo).
  15. Haha again, hard to define :p. I mean, The Hours left me with stuff to think about/I was shaken, but then it's mainstream (effectively). David Lynch obviously. I'd say most of Lars Von Trier's films, specifically But then they're very traumatic. Pure, genuine thought can be generated after watching things like I guess most Charlie Kauffman films apply too (you already mentioned Being John Malkovich). His films are excellent, a real desire to explore the medium and thought behind film. Many different kinds of films can get a visceral reaction from the audience. EDIT: I feel like I'm missing out so many greats, so here's my list of every film I've ever seen. The ones with the highest ratings are the ones I regard highest (obvs). I generally aim for "thought-provoking films" to see in the first place (or just obvious stunners).
  16. It's hard to define when there's no genre or specifics wanted...hm. I mean, would you consider Donnie Darko not-so-mainstream? Visually it's not very different from the mainstream, and it's themes aren't that outside-the-box. But it does have a quality that seems to seperate it from the mainstream slightly. All of Darren Aronofsky's movies fit, not just The Fountain.
  17. Ellen Page is too young for Lois.
  18. Lost Highway, the David Lynch film that is needlessly out of print in the UK/always somehow annoying to get ahold of just happened to be in my Uni library! I'm stunned every time I go in. Alway something I've longed to see but never got around to. Sadly I'm nearly half-way through it and have a decidedly "..." opinion so far. :/

    Rihanna

Rihanna is one of the best chart pop stars we have. Loud is her best album. Her first two are nothing (I have the singles and purposely don't have the album tracks). Good Girl Gone Bad, Rated R and Loud are all excellent pop/r'n'b albums. Brilliant, effervescent tunes. And Rated R is a nice dose of darkness. But yeah Loud is the one album of hers you shouldn't hesitate to buy. EDIT: The S&M video just confirmed my suspicions that Rihanna was indeed a QueenOfLife. Brill. So 90's.
  20. I love the unclichedness of having Longshot front and centre.
  21. Jean Grey >>> Ginger. I enjoyed hearing you call her that out loud.
  22. Second time buying this...first copy was borrowed and never given back by a friend, and really it's just awkward now. Only got to watch it once before that too. ROFL at them putting "3 1/2 stars" on the poster! Why would you? Makes you assume it's mediocre at best. Overall, it's a design travesty. *shudders* I love how the Oscar Nom quote feels like it might be sarcastic as well. ALL FOR FREE WITH MY AMAZON VOUCHER
  23. I have series 1, never finished it. I feel rude, since it was so unique and great, but I just left it too long between watching episodes. In fact...now I have loads of free/boredom time I'll start it up again. It's a lack of motivation. But yeah I'll just buy Six Feet Under.
