I've been in the Resident Evil online community for like, 16 whole years. In those 16 years, I've had nothing but constant abuse from trolls on forums. I was a member of all the major message boards over the past decade and a half, like TotallyRE, Resident Evil Horror, Biohaze, Bio-HQ, The Horror Is Alive, and others. All of them were full of extremely toxic individuals that didn't seem to really care about my viewpoints, and whatnot. They made my anxiety become worse and worse. About the only one I post on now is Biohaze, as I either got banned from all of the other forums, or they've since been closed down. But I know that Biohaze isn't that active anymore. A lot of threads haven't been posted in for ages, so it seems pointless to post any comments at all. Anyway, I stuck my neck out for this YouTuber called Nemesis a year ago, during the period where these guys made videos saying he was toxic and needed to be blacklisted for misleading people. They've since reconciled with him, and removed those videos from their channels, but I added most of them to archive.org months ago. This Nemesis guy was known for being extremely over the top in his rants about Capcom back then, but everything he said was generally sincere, so I respected that. But this all changed around E3 last year, when Capcom finally announced the Resident Evil 2 remake. He suddenly loved Capcom again, and the guys that initially mocked him, went talking trash about me too, so Nemesis turned against me once all of this got back to him. Basically, they showed Nemesis a page about me on Encyclopedia Dramatica, maintaining that's factual proof that I carried out certain illegal acts offline, and blah, blah, blah. So over the course of a year and a half, they've posted a lot of videos about me, or had people going on my videos to vote them down. In this live stream from earlier this month, they were really overdoing it, making out I "killed and gutted a rat" when that never happened, and also calling me a woman beater, and jive talking about another pseudonym I use, and all the rest of it. Once, I sent one of them porn of myself just to get him riled up. Eventually, they got impatient and wanted me to attach an official document like a police report, in order to prove that I reported people like I was reported by others in the past. However, I tried to tell them that there's a problem where I cannot access the folders on my phone when I link my phone to any laptop, so they just assumed I had nothing to show them to back up my claims about being harassed. By the time I did show them a real letter during this broadcast, they thought it was something I wrote myself over 20 minutes, and they proceeded to banish me from the live stream. What the heck? I'm called Peter in real life, and they spent like an hour and a half, just mocking me on Discord. Renegade Operative, Nemesis and BioDevil_Dom did it while a lot of their followers joined in with their ignorant comments. It's garbage like this this, that has really put me off of liking Resident Evil as a whole. Yeah, Capcom has made the franchise go downhill anyway. Sure. That's besides the point, though. To me, it feels like I completely wasted my time trying to fit in with all of these different communities over the years, as all these people did was go out of their way to screw me over, time and time again, or stalk me elsewhere to repeat the cycle. Not only that, but they appear to be corporate shills in general, and I don't think they like anybody stating how they feel about Capcom. Because remember, folks: NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO HAVE AN OPINION THESE DAYS! This is absolutely crazy. Right?

I love "Do Anything You Wanna Do" by The Rods. What a belter of a tune, that was popular c. 1977. This is a crappy time indeed, with Ric Ocasek from the Cars and Eddie Money (of "Baby Hold On" fame) also passing away recently. :( Today's music is mostly a heap of manufactured shite, that is forgotten about in next to no time. I get sad knowing that today's sorry excuse for an entertainment industry has no backbone to it at all anymore. Long live the golden oldies, like this tune! ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK8pAfhC4Rk

Do you agree with me?
-
Is that actually fake? If it is, it's still a great cover.
-
Ellie looks mighty mad on that cover!

Agree or not, you know it's true!

Yeah. I've seen him in movies like The Horror Show, and he was a very cool actor.

Well, I would say it's mostly because Capcom shamelessly copies ideas from other games and movies. I mean, they're not the first company that has did that, but I do notice it. I think giving that they add in new plot stuff in every new game without resolving what occurred in the last one, is a bit annoying too. They leave the prior game open-ended, and when the new game comes out years later, most of what's in it is largely unrelated to the plot aspects from before. So now that I've seen that they rinse and repeat this cycle, it has gotten to a point where I feel like the series has ran its course. It becomes hard to maintain any interest in a franchise, knowing that they will do carry on doing this for years to follow. Plus, I think a lot of fans online are toxic in general. I've been a member of so many other message boards, like I said. Since 2003, I've had people trolling me hard, yet they always make out I'm one who is the troll. Like, if you go on any search engine, and look up "Grace Saunders" and anything to do with these games, you will be able to find a lot of links to other websites, where people are essentially mocking me. There's also a page about me on Encyclopedia Dramatica. That site appears to be down just now, but I do have a page on there, where idiots have referred to me as a mentally ill man, as well as posting my real name and location. And blah, blah, blah. Eventually, most of these forums disappeared, but a select few remain. Nobody really posts much on these forums anymore. The only forum I really do post on a lot is Biohaze, and a few forums about Silent Hill. With any other forums, I just log in now and then to post a few threads, but I don't think the users on these forums are massive fans of survival horror games. Then last year, I had a real bothersome issue with some YouTubers. There's a guy with over 4000 followers on YouTube, called Nemesis. He talks about Resident Evil mostly, and some other guys started bashing him over a year ago. They made videos about him supposedly being a toxic content creator, and they claimed he should be blacklisted for misleading the fans. He was just stating his opinions, albeit in a rather overly dramatic manner. Since then, he hasn't did this kind of ranting much at all. But anyway, they made videos that essentially made fun of him for going on about Capcom, since he claimed they had been disrespecting certain former employees. Giving the fact that I 100% agreed with what he said, I tried to stick up for him. Rather than using an alias, I used my real name, and appeared on camera to talk about the YouTubers who were targeting Nemesis. Not that a fully grown man needs my help, but whatever. So at one point, I said something derogatory concerning the United States, and I also told them about the satire wiki in question. The stuff I said was for cheap heat mainly, but I can see why an American would be offended by what I said. Nemesis however, eventually turned on me. The guys that were making a fool of him took his side after this, and so on. This year, they decided to remove the videos about Nemesis, and now they're even doing podcasts with him from time to time. Nemesis just keeps blocking me, during his live streams, if he knows it's me, and I pledged money to him on Patreon. He refunded the money I sent him to him, and blocked me. In one of the videos, one of the trolls said that they removed the videos about Nemesis due to him showing a better side to himself, yet this person said the videos about me were staying up. After that, I flagged them constantly, but I didn't get two of them deleted until back in July. I even got one of their addresses, because he has his real name on his PayPal profile, and I used truepeoplesearch.com to find out where he lives. Me pulling that stunt made these guys become angry, and then they made even more videos saying I was a loser for doing that, just over video game disagreements. Although they were saying some really nasty things about me, which was the reason for reporting their videos in the first place. I'm sure you get the point. But, yeah. I'm really upset about fallen out with this Nemesis guy, because after all the years of crap I suffered through with morons on the Internet abusing me, I thought I'd finally found that one guy I could form a bond with, to have some fun podcasts with before I officially retired from everywhere I go online, and I basically blew it. My mother said that she would not have put up with all of this BS for as long as I did. Although I guess having no social life is why I'm so attached to forums and YouTube. Unfortunately, there's a lot of arrogant people online that have really been screwing things up for me, and making my depression become worse. When I look back on all of it, I feel like I've been totally wasting my time. I've even had a stalker in New Zealand pestering me for the past 2 years. For example, if you go on acyberlove.com, you can see tons of spam posts that he has recently made. He also knows I've been in some films, so he tries to contact people from those films. http://www.acyberlove.com/showthread.php?t=132874 https://archive.org/details/NemesisTheMostToxicResidentEvilContentCreator -

Are you a fan, Happenstance? -
I love the series, but it isn't as great as it was. I think Capcom has severely milked it. They sold out once they started copying other trends, and I think Naughty Dog can create way better games. The thing is too, the RE Engine made Chris look odd. Other than that, some fanboys in the community aren't a full shilling either. I have had a lot of hassle elsewhere. This has occurred at other forums, and also on YouTube. I also have this creep stalking me. I have to be careful not to post any more personal stuff that the dude loves to latch himself onto. But don't get me wrong. I will be remaining a fan, but only in some way smaller capacity. The recent games however, are vastly disappointing. I don't want Capcom to just remake or reboot everything, and do bland spin off games. But I really don't want to join any more message boards. I only post on a handful of websites now in general, but they aren't very active. And like I said, some people online are annoying. But um, with that said, what do you think of this new "Project Resistance" game? It's hard to judge it since I have yet to watch any major footage.

Well... I wouldn't get too excited, as they may have just updated the license to retain their rights to the IP, and Konami could just leave it abandoned for long enough. https://www.onlysp.com/new-konami-trademark-hints-at-silent-hill-revival/ The series ended up crappy over the course of several years anyway. I didn't really like any of the games after Origins much at all. They should never have gotten rid of Team Silent. The games afterwards were mediocre, and kind of an insult to the fans. I think that's also due to Capcom making Resident Evil into an action franchise. Every other company started to copy their style. If the series ever came back, it has to be for the right reasons. I'm tired of this money grabbing BS coming from companies today.

What Resident Evil game do you think will be unveiled next?
CrowingJoe79 replied to CrowingJoe79's topic in Other Consoles
I'm trying to be optimistic about the future of this series, but they have let fans down for long enough. Even the recent remake could have been better. They cut too much content, and it felt rather rushed. But maybe if this is an original title and not a remake, they may be able to redeem themselves if they have way more original ideas. The last sequel felt like a huge rip off of notable movies and first person horror games as well. -
Why I think Resident Evil is dying...

Assisted aim. But I still died because of not knowing where and when to use Ada's new scanner to get away from Mr. X in the sewers. That wasn't even in the original. -

The RE2 remake is probably the hardest RE game of any kind that I've played in years. I have had to start it again 4 times. I'm just a bit disappointed that they made Claire's scenario almost like Leon's. Maybe that will change for the B scenarios. I hope so. But so far, I'm just seeing the same scenes, which is stupid, because Leon and Claire would have went a different route. Right? -

This is a film that is scarier than Resident Evil 4! That is how NOT scary that game truly is. -

5 more days. I'll be streaming it online. I've actually already seen the opening scene with Claire. -
OK. So the series isn't technically 'dying' in the sense that it sells very well across multiple platforms, and that's not necessarily something to hate on. No. I just mean that, generally speaking, the series has gone way downhill, and it isn't like anything from when it first started either. But before people salivate over the upcoming RE2 remake and defend how good it looks, keep in mind that I'm not specifically speaking about that game, as it is just a re-imagining, and even if it's a good, scary, all around perfect horror experience, it's not actually intended to be a canonical entry. Even Capcom revealed that. So, what is my quarrel about? Well, I was quite a big fan of the series back in the 90's or early 2000s era, when I had the original PlayStation. This was a period when horror games thrived, and I also used to be a huge Silent Hill fan as well, until Konami ruined the games with their later American type style. In fact, RE is my favorite series of all time and probably always will be dear to my heart, even if it ends up sucking beyond belief, because I honestly don't play a great deal of non horror games. But while I do love The Last of Us, one could argue that that game is mostly an action or drama game, just with horror stuff thrown in. But my main issue is the change from horror to action in the RE series, and how a lot of the story doesn't make sense any longer, nor does the senseless plot go anywhere fast. The first three games are solid horror titles and the story was based around the nefarious experiments, undergone by Umbrella. Even Code: Veronica, which I feel is underrated, is one game that has one of the best stories in the entire franchise and is like the 'real' RE4 for me. Zero pretty much went over old ground, being a prequel, and was to me kind of long and boring after the section on the train ended, but it is no less like a RE game ought to be. However, 4 threw all that momentum unceremoniously into the trash, and yes, 4 still somehow gained a new legion of fans because of its emphasis on having to collect guns. However, that game had a weird story that felt out of place for some reason. It just decided to cancel 6 years of RE history in one fell swoop, with Leon not even facing Umbrella at all, and just the leftovers. But now he is going to a village located in Spain, not as a cop, but as a Tom Cruise like agent having to fight the same looking villagers, and hundreds of times. And the enemies and ideas behind 4 overall meant that it wasn't like a true RE game anymore. Not that 4 is a bad game by any means, because it's not as terrible as you think I'm making it out to be, but the enemies, like the monks and all that, are just not a proper staple of the series. 5 and 6 however, while not the worst games ever made, are certainly not a patch on the older ones, and the story in those games could have been better. The spin off games aren't worth a toss, really, but the two 'Outbreak' games at least had some interesting ideas for introducing online co-op features, and I liked how each character had certain skills and weaknesses. It was definitely a great game, that we sadly can only play online now in Japan. I think anyway. I'm not entirely certain about that. But then the co-op totally changed in the other games. The rest of the series feels like it has relatively pointless and confusing, self-contained stories, but I did think Revelations 2 was one of the better sequels. 7: Biohazard was quite good, but ultimately, it was rather bizarre and Chris looks so dumb now. The game was also sort of like a shameless rip-off of well-known movies and the game felt like a rehash of the original, with a possessed family in place of the zombies and also with Capcom throwing in all these sludge like creatures that walk slowly, and look more stupid than terrifying. The additional mode where they are wearing party hats as you collect food, is so cringe worthy. Most of the DLC for that game was a con, in my view. I know Chris' looks got altered due to the new RE Engine, but I digress. It really no longer looks like Chris anymore. He sounds so annoying now, and while he is the main star of the series, the game made him seem a bit wimpy during certain parts. The scene where he gets ambushed by Lucas while he tries to save his soldier friend, is kind of laughable. You'd think after 6, he would be reluctant to have more of his men die. It is perplexing, because the two games are nothing alike. Chris was certainly 'not a hero' or at least, not like his old self.
