  1. But surely, if IE is used by ~90% of internet users, then IE is the standard you should be working to?
  2. I was going to ask, too, as the only bandwidth limitation mentioned, so far, is in the DS hardware; there is an interview, from some time ago, where a Buffalo executive stated that the USB dongle would work with both the DS and (at that time) the Revolution.
  3. You're missing the point, this system does have positioning technology; it uses RFID tags instead of IR, so it's not dependant on line-of-sight.
  4. There's one scenario some of you have ignored: whilst everyone is going on about either MS or Sony buying them up, what if Nintendo got in first and bought the company? The claim for this system is that it doesn't have the one limitation that the Nintendo system has, which is having to be pointed towards the sensor bar to allow for 3D positioning. Think about it, Nintendo could buy the rights to this tech and then use it in Wii2, which would be the more powerful system to match/exceed the performance of the PS3.
  5. I'm not sure, but I think you'll find that it will come with Composite leads and then a Composite-SCART adapter, like the GameCube did. I think I read on IGN, earlier, that the US is definitely getting the Composite leads in their boxes.
  6. No, it's the same physical size and has the same capacity, but they're a proprietary format. If I recall correctly, Panasonic created it for Nintendo, in the same way they created the GC discs. DVD production lines might be able to create them, with some re-tooling, but they will not be produced alongside DVD discs on the exact same equipment.
  7. See my comment in the "Wii is flowing freely" thread...
  8. Sony's advertising/hype logic: Sony: "Ha, ha, ha! Nintendo, you're a failure! You had stock left over, over the crucial Christmas period!" Nintendo: "But we sold ten times more systems than you, picking up a lot of sales from people who couldn't buy a PS3." Sony: "Yes, but you failed to get the huge headlines saying how you were sold out! You have failed to create a false demand for your system!"
  9. OK, barring the bad translation, it sounds like Capcom are rationalizing and centralising their subsidiary development studios into a central one.
  10. So a survey says that twice as many people want a PS3 as is likely to be available, for the forseeable future, at least at current production rates? Hmmm, doesn't say much for the usefulness of this survey! Meanwhile: http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/738/738261p1.html
  11. You will only be able to BUY it online, this is something that Nintendo have been doing with some products already; there is simply no facility to download a game to the Gamecube, from an online connection.
  12. If you can show verifiable sources for inspiring the use of a talking tree, i.e. folklore, film, etc, then it doesn't matter who was the first to include it in a game because you can always point to prior use of the concept.
  13. He's not the only one that age, on here...
  14. Yes and no, which is why I said like a light-gun, not as a light-gun. Traditional light-guns work by actually seeing the the scan lines from a CRT's electron gun, thus knowing whereabouts in the image the gun is pointing; these apparently won't work with HDTV, LCD nor plasma screens. This is where the Wii works so well, as it isn't actually looking at the screen; with some calibration it should be possible to replicate the effect of a light-gun without the inherent limitations.
  15. Except, the Wiimote is meant to be capable of acting like a light-gun, where you point at on the screen is where the system should recognise a strike. This means the system needs to have some way of calibrating the position of the TV screen, in 3D space.
  16. They are third party, just officially licensed by Nintendo.
  17. Geeze, everyone complains that there aren't enough third party games, on Nintendo systems, then say they're not going to touch a great sounding game because it's multiplatform. Get your heads out of your rears, people, if a third party game appears on your system of choice, buy it if it's good, not because it's exclusive.
  18. I don't think the memory being used for unique ID's is "official" yet; IGN revealed it about a month back, when they discussed the use of the memory with developers, it was an idea that was mentioned. This may prove to be one of those "trojan's" where it's casually dropped into conversation, but is actually a firm plan.
  19. She didn't, she only confirmed that the only supported memory format is SD cards, at present. It's typical corporate speak, they don't say specifically "no", they just make it sound like it until they're happy to say "yes".
  20. Not the only one, 36 too; shall we all start comparing birthdays? Anyway: Binatone game system /w tennis, football, squash and squash practice Atari VCS/2600 Sinclair Spectrum 48K Sinclair Spectrum 128K +2 Commodore Amiga 500 Commodore Amiga 4000 EC030 Sony PlayStation PC Nintendo GameCube /w GBA, GBA SP, DS & DS Lite Wii (though begrudge the extra £10, over the € price, and the extra £25 over the US price + VAT)
  21. Unless your TV has proportional scaling, where it stretches the edges of the image and leaves the middle relatively untouched.
  22. I seem to recall reading that you do need to have a GC memory card, to save GC game saves; as has been mentioned, the GC emulation will not see the available flash memory.
  23. Even cheaper: http://www.directfoto.co.uk/shop/detail.aspx?productid=6063 £14.99 with free postage, at least to the UK, possibly Europe. It's slightly cheaper on Amazon, again, but below the free delivery threshold by itself. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0008EI9V0/
  24. That's generally the idea; when you install your wireless router you give it your login details, for your ISP, so whilst the router is on it stays connected to the internet. Your PC, and other devices, then just link up to the router in whichever manner you see fit and they pass on their data requests, which are then handled by the router.
  25. Where are those statistics on the source you gave? They seem to be the shipped numbers, which I have seen discussed previously; it's been shown that there is actually a 20-40% difference, dependant upon region, between Sony's shipped figures and the actual sales. Have you never noticed that Sony always quote shipped units, whilst Nintendo quote sold units?
