Uhh...since when has anything in Lost ever been that simple? Firstly, we don't know what the light is. Secondly, we still don't really know what the smoke monster is or why it exists. It's only shit if you simplify it to the extent you have and draw conclusions about the story that aren't there. I thought it was a good episode, since it tells you about Jacob and the origins (somewhat) of the island.

The HTC Desire sounds pretty good. One thing I always thought, though, does the massive support in terms of there being plenty of apps put the iPhone at an advantage? And regarding the H.264 thing, does this apply to many less scrupulous flash sites besides youtube? Wouldn't mind watching some anime on the go...

Hi everyone, apologies if this is in the wrong section. I've been thinking about an iPhone since I'll be going to London in September and I'd like to keep in touch with quite a lot of people, and being able to use google map/nationalrail/internet on the go would be really good. At Tesco (I work there part time on a Sunday) they're doing a 25% off deal for all staff members, plus they can get up to 4 other non-staff people on the deal too. Essentially, you can pay £33.75 a month for 2 years and you get the 16GB 3GS included with unlimited texts, calls and internet, as well as triple clubcard points for the cost of the contract. According to the guy there, I can take the deal out and it'll still be in effect when I quit Tesco to start my PhD. But the offer ends 30th June. I know the Iphone 4 is out soon, but no doubt that'll cost a chunk and I'm not too fussed. Does anyone highly recommend the phone? (Thought I'd ask in my own topic rather than the Apple topic since I'm sure the response would be very favourable there :p). Is internet browsing/flash video watching fluid on it? Is the tariff good for someone who would text/call a reasonable amount? Cheers.

Yeah, um, it's like the best sword (or at least one of them) in the game. :p "At Pure White or Pure Black Character Tendency, the sword has 135 + 135 Physical and 135 + 135 Magic attack power" It does insane damage at extreme character tendencies. I'm pure white and it does loads. I still prefer the meat cleaver in situations against NPCs or players, since that can knock down.

You don't get the prize for beating all the bosses, you get it for having pure character tendency. Since that carries over to NG+ you'd literally only have to go talk to him again to get it.

I think the only thing you could say is bad is that there's no real end boss. But really, this is almost a cliche in every game now. I kind of commend them for not doing what almost every game ever does these days... and the rest of the gameplay really is top notch. If you ever played Shadow of the Colossus it's pretty similar in this respect; you fight a number of bosses and then the game ends. None were defined as the end boss either.

Too true. Obviously you can't directly use Wikipedia in anything scholarly; which basically means people use Wikipedia to read about what they're looking for first and then harvest the particular page for its sources (which people often then cite instead). Wikipedia is an incredible resource...people slate its integrity, but false information rarely persists. I've been watching all of Scrubs again from season 1 through to 8 (let's forget about the existence of 9) with my girlfriend, who had never seen it. It's taken some months but we finally watched My Finale yesterday, and it must be one of my favourite episodes of any TV series ever. It's wonderful. The way they scripted the episode couldn't have been better, and the music is just amazingly suited. I've seen the episode before, but watching it again yesterday made me appreciate it even more. The homing attack makes it look much easier. Rather than need much skill, it just locks onto the target/spring for you.

That's so dumb. She's trying to argue that people went out and voted for a hung parliament, and so it's what they wanted. Since when do people think 'God I hope we can have a hung parliament!' Not that you can even vote for such a thing, anyway, at least not without knowing what the final vote count would be beforehand. She should be sacked, then never allowed to work in news ever again. The bad news is that she'd probably manage to get a column in the Daily Mail.

There aren't any other important rings. The thief's ring and the cling ring are found in the first level (the second of which is the best ring in the game), which you no doubt found yourself. So really, after that, the only important ring is the clever rat's ring; and yes, it's pretty essential. Delving into the lizard cave in 2-1, without it, for instance, is stupid since you won't be able to 1 hit kill them one by one, and they'll probably all run away. Telling you the level you can find it is good so you can play that level sooner to get it. Every other ring isn't important. Some are better than others, but they're never really that important. The eternal warrior's ring is nice (only if you use something heavy like the meat cleaver), but you can certainly live without it.

Crikey, you must be really bad then. :p I'm saying that using hyperbole to trash talk a party is being like a politician; I'm aware these are also human beings but they have traits that I wouldn't be proud to admit to share. Spinning actions to sound worse than normal is one... Well, that means he placed emphasis on it being destroyed. Not that the word following is false or exaggerated. A similar definition is this: "In an efficient or effective manner; with powerful effect". Essentially, it means you're placing even greater effect on the word 'destroyed'. ARGH. Why are we still arguing this? :p He tried to make an action sound worse than it worse and trash the party for that reason; whether heat of the moment or not. And I'll leave it at that! Hmm...shush.

I think if you went by any of the listed definitions, it pretty much does mean that it is really destroyed, for all intents and purposes. It was, as you said, substitution out of heated passion as many do in the English language. I'm not saying he's an immoral, crazy person for doing that. It's just that using hyperbole in this kind of argument is exactly like the hot-air politicians when they try to trash talk every other party there is. Well, it's either a case that he genuinely uses the word 'destroyed' to refer to still functioning systems, or that his passion in the argument against Conservatives led him to spin it negatively. I assumed the latter, which is probably the case, and given the OTT nature of the comment I felt it completely fair to call on. His whole point that the services would be 'destroyed' falls flat when you get him to acknowledge that the services would still be running. Anyway, that's quite enough on this. You interjected with a definition that was clearly not needed, because, yes, you were clearly being pretentious. Very pretentious. And your 'pretending to be pretentious' charade is pulled off with ease because you are - shock horror; very pretentious! And yet, as above, hyperbole is almost always excusable in modern day language but in this case it was clearly a biased way to spin a party to make them sound far worse than they were. Hence: I called him on that. I find it strange that I'm having to explain this to you; have you not observed a debate before? One person is likely to place spin on an issue, and people can shoot down spin where they see it. In this instance, stating that public services would be destroyed and therefore it's a reason to detest Conservatives is a clear over-exaggeration -- as you say, it's common to do, but it's also incredibly common for someone to shoot down such an overblown statement. It wasn't such a big deal until you went and provided a definition. It really was a shooting down of spin. Except now, it seems so much more. Neither would I. And I would expect anyone who noticed that someone was making mountains to suit their argument to call them out on it. Cue me.

To further this, here's a few definitions that completely contradict you: "in actuality or reality or fact; "she is effectively his wife"; "in effect, they had no choice" "In an efficient or effective manner; with powerful effect; Essentially; for all practical purposes" And most of all, even if you were to define it as 'not exactly true, but basically that', let's see what that means: First, he said public services would be destroyed. Second, he said it would be cut and not removed. And definitely no mention of beind destroyed. Third, he said it would be effectively destroyed. Which means it pretty much would be (by the definition of your choosing), but not actually; which is clearly bullshit, as the public services would still be running (even if less effective). In fairness, this is one hell of a pointless argument drawn out because I feel like arguing with your insistance on definition, and mostly because you were trying to be the pretentious woman on countdown with the dictionary. Nicktendo is guilty of nothing more than hyperbole, but now we've made it look like murder.

Minority means that those views will never materialise; any party may have members that suddenly say something out of the blue, but as long as there's sense the ideas won't come to light.
