  1. There's a huge difference between killing to survive; to eat, and killing for entertainment while pretending to give a half shit about 'controlling' fox numbers (as I mentioned; if this was the case, there'd be humane methods in place).
  2. I am saying that artificial isn't natural. They are two absolute opposites. Most of what humans do is now beyond the call of nature, hence the term 'artificial'. And foxhunting is most definitely one of those things. As McPhee said, if it was really about controlling numbers, there would be a far more humane way to do this. If it was about food, they would all be eaten afterwards. It is neither of these. It's a sick sport for rich toffs. Edit: of course antiseptic is unnatural. Does that mean it's bad? No. I was using the unnatural argument when Ell said that dogs were just obeying nature. Which was pure horeshit, since they are obeying the rather unnatural commands of man.
  3. Again, how is what we tell dogs to a do a force of nature? I'm just wondering at what point some people become so egotistical to believe they are the voice of mother nature.
  4. Last I remember, foxhunting isn't nature. It's artificial. As in, we take dogs and train them to savagely rip foxes apart.
  5. Foxhunting is cruel, no matter what way you look at it. To be torn apart by a dog is a cruel and disgusting way to die.
  6. There used to be a Deckers near us, but not a Checkers, alas.
  7. Where did he bring it from? Last surprise was waking up this morning. Oh yes. :p
  8. It's called a joke. :z Yeah, stainless steel can still rust, genius. And you'd expect it to if it was constantly in contact with water. :p Why are we even arguing this?
  9. It's also what adds to the thrill. Knowing you could lose so many points when over 8000 if you came second, even, made you care that much more. It shouldn't have, but it did. I remember placing something like 7th when I had 8,000 points once (don't ask how), and losing so many. Funny times. Actually they have that. And how often you place 1st, etc. Another awesome thing about the Wii version is the ability to complete a race in the fastest time with just 3 mushrooms, and get put on a leaderboard. You can then see the video of someone's top time and race against their ghost.
  10. You probably didn't set it up right. If you remove ubers, the chance is significantly reduced... MKDS was broken for me, what with no penalty for quitting (so most people did when I started to thrash them), how long it took to connect and the fact everyone snaked (effecitvely an abusable flaw of the game). The Wii version's online is seamless. At least if they stick with the online system they have for it now with future titles they'll be on to winners. Maybe future games will have more competitive options...
  11. lol, it should be rusty then. In fairness, Blastoise is a bit steely too. Steel cannons for popping a splash in someone's ass.
  12. Yeah, but, comparatively it's just weak. They seem to overcomplicate Pokemon with adornments these days, making them look like they have metal prongy edges and strange blocky bits. I mean, compared to its equivalent. :p Hydro Pumps Empoleon out of the water tbh.
  13. You can only equip 2 rings at once. It's not incredibly obvious. One of them requires you to slash a chain to lower a drawbridge, I think. Or it's on a balcony. Whereas another, the thief's ring, is when you drop off a castle wall at a position to land on a platform, rather than on the floor.
  14. No difference? But it totally eliminates the show of many 'powered' items. You can't do it online, but then again most people are comparing this to titles that couldn't be played online so I thought to compare the main, offline modes. Plus the lengthy connection system in MKDS is terrible. And people quit, left right and centre. Cowards.
  15. Yeah, I remembered something else. The 3 semi-legendaries you get for each generation, too: Not content with the legendary...things in D/P already looking terrible, they cloned the thing twice and just changed its head. :p
  16. You can also tone down the items so there's nothing overpowered, and IIRC, their frequency too. :p
  17. Probably pick the Royal to start. Makes no difference after the first stage, but makes the first stage so much easier. Essential - pick up the Cling Ring in the first level (1-1). When you die, you become soul form with 50% of your max HP. Equipping the Cling Ring while in soul form will mean you have approximately 75% of your max HP instead. Also pick up the Thief Ring in 1-1 too. It means many enemies can't see you from as far a distance. If you equip this, you can take out crystal lizards you see (they run away almost all the time if you don't have this equipped) if your bow is good enough, or have a go using your sword. The ring also works on bosses...basically any enemy can't see you from as far away so you can get around without being attacked as much. Kill the blue guy in the Nexus as soon as you see him. He drops some souls that you can use to buy the few thousand cost shield Ed the Blacksmith is selling. This has 100% damage reduction, so you won't take any damage at all from blocking with it. Also go to world 4-1 when you can. Pump strength on your character for a bit so you can equip it effectively (if you don't have good enough stats for a weapon then it'll be crap). You get the crescent falchion which does magic damage as well as physical, so does a lot of damage early on.
  18. Hey. Ho-Oh looks awesome. :p And at least some of my comparisons are directly comparable. Particularly the legendaries.
  19. Apologies if this is as old post to reply to, but I just saw it. And come oooon... I think anyone who properly enjoyed Pokemon back in its day, ie. not your typical young kids of today, besides you - who seems to be impervious to the monotony of Pokemon, would disagree with you there... Past Gold and Silver the Pokemon they came up with were ridiculous. It looked as they came up with Pokemon then gave it to a jumped up graphics design student to play around with in Photoshop: - instead of good Pokemon design they tack on pieces to his body to try and make it look interesting to kids. One extortionately monged up looking Pokemon. - potentially the worst, it just looks ridiculous. It's as if they fired the previous designer of Pokemon, who made them look pretty awesome back then indeed. Frankly, the Pokemon designers even know that the first couple of generations had the best Pokemon, which is why a ridiculous number of new ones are often evolutions of pre-evolutions of loved favourites (often generation 1). In short, TL;DR: Pokemon design for any new Pokemon is destined to be, the majority of the time, complete shit. I honestly think they should have stopped after G/S. It's basically the same game where you do the same thing every time, with a new ragtag bunch of 100 extra misfits every installment to go out and catch. Actually, these images sum it up better: >>> and The simplicity of earlier Pokemon easily bitch slaps the complex, cluttered designs they come up with today.
  20. Cool, let me know how you get on. :p We could play a game together if you like. You'd have to be a higher level first.
  21. For starters: switch items off. If you don't like them, it's that simple. DD, now that you mention it, is one of the worst MK games; the steering feels like shit. The two players to a kart thing means you get twice the number of items, meaning usually twice the amount of carnage. Pow blocks in the Wii version can be jumped or stunted through. There's the lightning bolt, but that's in the other games. And the blue shell is in all the recent ones, too. Only if you're really far behind do items like the mega mushroom and starman really affect you; same as most of the games that have the starman. Therefore, besides the blue shell, and the occasional lightning bolt (but that affects everyone except the person so bad that they'll never catch up), you're pretty much left to your own devices. And red shells? You know that if you're hit by one of them, it's usually your own fault. It's not like there aren't enough items that defend against them.
  22. Yup, I'm surprised too. The quality of the story and animation is much better than common long running anime series (which are basically the TV soaps of anime; often quantity over quality). If anyone here doesn't watch the latest FMA series they should try it out. It's awesome.
  23. lol, I wonder how rare the Mayfair ticket is. I'm guessing they just make one ticket per set incredibly difficult to find...
  24. lol, I can just imagine a chauvinist with a monocle reading it.
  25. Not true. If you use bikes, you can choose to wheelie whenever you want. Using wheelies to your advantage at the right moments can increase the distance between you and the players behind you. You need to know when to use them, really. Using them at the wrong time can send you on a one-way path to death. Even you must know that is absolute bollocks. Just knowing how to drift, and knowing when to begin drifting on a corner, and how to tightly drift around a corner are different things. That pretty much ruined MK: DS online play for me. It turned every race into something that looked downright ridiculous, and clearly was an abusable flaw in the game. Notice how people don't snake like that in real racing games. Not that this is a real racing game, but they clearly never expected online games to play out like that when they developed it. Heathen! It easily has some of the best levels ever; especially Maple Treeway, and Rainbow Road is awesome for the skilled. It also features some of the best past levels, combining some great new ones with old favourites. Welcome to Mario Kart. But if you really want to test purely skill; and I mean skill, with no random factors whatsoever (wholly boring, in my opinion) switch off items and play rainbow road. It's that simple. According to players here, the AI cheats in this release of Super Mario Kart, making it not a test of skill. And ever since the blue shell was released, it was never really properly skill-based either. So the only title that could ever claim the skill honour would be MK64. And even then, I could have sworn the AI cheated. Instead the AI just blatantly cheats its way past you. :p To be honest, the blue shell makes it harder and you're required of more skill since you are the one usually in first place. At least if you're any good. So if you win in MK Wii, after being hit by 2 or 3 blue shells, you just know that you're great. Yup, MK64. :p To me, it just seems like such an eyesore that I couldn't even get to the stage of picking it up again. I can withstand 2D from a past era, but not old 3D. It's just so blocky, and the screen flattened... my eyes do bleed a little.
