  1. Anyone get this as their free game, and if so how long it took for the code to appear in their account on Club Nintendo? Just wondering if it'll be the same for Animal Crossing.
  2. Oh...you didn't just go there regarding XBL merits over PSN. :p Never gonna work. It's clear why I made my point, as someone was justifying the relatively low cost of something by comparing to other outgoing costs. Even if it was one point of a few, it's still a bad point. You could justify the cost of anything if you do that.
  3. Completely disagree with your view on that, of course. And if you look at the post directly above that one I made, Charlie was doing precisely what the subject of my post was about. There was no over exaggeration or sensationalist baiting in my post, thank you. As a reminder:
  4. These arguments are wank guys, come on. "Well my gas bill costs X per month so by comparison XBL..." Can we really justify the cost of things that should be free by looking at things that cost us more each year? So silly!
  5. So maybe a revised £200 instead of £240? It's still exorbitant for the ability to play online for the life of the console. It's the cost of the console again! I honestly don't know how people can justify it. Maybe you can say you prefer the games on the 360 or the controller hence why you foot the bill, but let's not pretend that the cost is justified.
  6. It's only expunged because you choose to break it down as '£2 a month'. It's £240 lifetime cost. Surely you can see why Microsoft can be criticised for offering pretty much the same service as Sony, but at the expense of £240?
  7. None of that bears any relevance to anything. Your argument seems to be that 'since random other stuff in life costs me money, what's a bit more going to matter?' That's really not a good attitude to have. Once something has been shown it can be done just as well for free, a good competitor should match. Microsoft are not a good alternative.
  8. The thing is, Sony shows online can be done without costing the consumer anything. So any money spent on a similar service is money down the drain, no matter how small. It's also easy to rationalise the cost XBL as '£2 a month' but that's a totally arbitrary amount of time. You're not going to use the service for just a month, are you? More sensible and realistic for a core gamer is to look at how much they can expect to pay over the life of the console. Assuming you got the 360 in the first year and have played it since (which is pretty realistic for someone who games often), at an average of £30 a year for gold (if you factor early XBL costs of >£35) then that's 8*30 = £240. Well, it will be 8 years soon anyway. That's a lot of money, and expect to pay similar again with the next box.
  9. I think you may be the only person in the world left arguing in defence of XBL costs. It's fucking ridiculous compared to PSN and plus.
  10. Yeah, I don't know how anyone can think the Xbox is more promising? Except personal preference for the controller, but even then the PS4 controller looks more like the current 360 one now. The One looks gash, has a crappy anti-preowned system, enforced Kinect, likely continued online fees, an inferior library of exclusives, limited Japanese/alternative game support. Pretty crap really.
  11. Paying for online is promising?
  12. There is no firepower for this console whatsoever. It is a water pistol. A potato gun. A peashooter.
  13. This console...sucks. Been reading through the features in this topic...what a total joke.
  14. I would have thought that even though the game installs you would still need the disc if you just obtained the license (stopping people easily distributing the game for cheap). Otherwise there is no such thing as preowned, it's just buying the game off the store.
  15. Why do UK keep submitting old singers far past their prime that inevitably will bomb?
  16. But does it really matter if you have developers on two different consoles making similar themed titles, relative to a company that have made games following a strict formula for most of their titles that haven't changed for over a decade? They're all guilty of idea stagnation. Which isn't really such a bad thing, as people often want more of the same for series they love.
  17. Paki is definitely considered to be a racist term by and large, and would constitute racial abuse... ...however, much like the word nigger, the above hardly applies when used by people who the word typically is used to refer to.
  18. Get it on PC and link it to your TV via HDMI (if your graphics card has this ability). Then hook up a dualshock 3/ other gamepad if you have one. I did this. Like playing it on PS3 but with PC graphics.
  19. Yeah I was being a bit harsh there. :p But it was a bit arrogant for him to outright suggest no one other than him can be right about Pokemon. If you think about it though, if you're that invested in a series you can always find intricate things that have changed, but these things don't usually hold weight for most people when deciding whether the series has evolved much.
  20. Arguing Pokemon with you is so easy because you're a fanatic. It's like expecting a highly religious person to present a balanced view of their faith; you just know it's going to be one-sided. Really, it's not a bad thing to stick to a formula since people obviously crave it, but let's not pretend the series has changed much between each iteration. Neither the format, story or gameplay has changed all that much since the first game. I know. It's like a classic line you'd expect to hear from a 40 year old virgin.
  21. There is no sensible discussion to be had with someone who is utterly convinced Pokemon is not one of the most (if not the most) conserved series in the history of video gaming.
  22. While I somewhat agree, I find the main targets of his post (Sony and MS) really weird - surely the biggest offender related to stagnated gaming is Nintendo? You only need to take a look at many of their game series: - Zelda main titles very closely follow the formula of Ocarina of Time, made several generations ago - Pokemon very closely follows the formula of Red and Blue, both made many generations ago - New Metroid games have followed the formula of Metroid Prime for a while now - Mario Party follows a pretty strict formula - Fire Emblem, however cool, does have a pretty strong formula that hasn't changed too drastically over the years - Animal Crossing and Smash Bros. - again, very conserved. We may as well admit now that people want to play the same sorts of games over and over - and that Nintendo are probably the biggest culprit. In terms of new IP, Sony are more likely to deliver on this front, but we're bound to see similar games, sequels and formula-following from all developers.
  23. If the PS4 will be anything like the PS3 it won't just have pretty graphics - it'll have a lot of original and inventive titles that the Wii U won't see.
  24. At laaaast. Amazing game.
  25. Fair enough. I'm not saying you should vote him, just that if someone suspected me as Mafia I wouldn't want them to have a kill power that night. I might be one of the few, but I don't see you as Mafia. I think the people who have said nothing or little are much more likely to be Mafia.
