  1. ahhh, quadratic equations! I remember once I knew how to derive the quadratic equation, that was quite an achievement. Anyway, that looks spot on to me.
  2. I highly dissapprove of the word myself, it IS a racist word, as explained by the fish. I'm a pretty easy going guy, and often to subject of jokes and such from my friends, but most of them know that even if they call me a Paki in a joking way, I'm actually going to punch them in the face. I also can't help but think Apple NdiB's post was a little less than innocent in using the word.
  3. Well, it was on last night, around about...sometime just before 12? It was running later than the tv guide said though, and it was preceeded by Room 101, and apparently some old HIGNFY, which is always good even if it's old, but yeah, I guess it's back? It can't have been a repeat, what with them talking about Jade and Beckham.
  4. I actually hate how indian asians and oriental asians are grouped together like that. I think the PC terms for those are south asian and east asian respectively, but I dunno. Porch Monkey? wtf? Terry's Chocolate Orange isn't that bad, unless its actually related to his colour, is it a big puffy orange coat?
  5. Dara O'Breen(however it's spelt) made a rather funny comment on Mock the Week last night, about how big brother should have just shown the housemates footage of people in india rioting and burning placards(dunno how thats spelt either) of Jade's face, while Jade was still in there. As for the thing about Jade being briefed, I dunno how true it is, but I've been feeling like they were somehow told about how to respond, what she and danielle(and jo a bit) were saying in the diary room seemed too convienient, you got some sauce for that BlueStar?
  6. Snap! I did nothing last night, having been working all afternoon and also having nothing to do. If I hadn't got a lift from someone at work I probably would have stopped by the pub, but I didn't, so yeah...I did nothing. I feel old.
  7. Alot of racism threads, would be easier to track if it was all in one thread. Let's say I know a rather overweight person, if I were to call them 'a fat bastard' would the fat be just a descriptive label, or part of the insult? It is part of the insult, it is drawing attention to that fact to try and say there is something wrong with being fat, in my view, it implies the same whatever that word, be it fat, black, white etc. That comment quoted in the original post has racist connotations, and if you can't see that, well, it's part of the whole racist problem. I find the argument of it being 'different' senseless. I think also alot of the issue of it being taken more seriously in the cases of ethnic minorities is due to history and all that, and how typically, white people were very racist towards them. It was once a massive problem, and to try and rid the problem, they went quite far in steps towards reducing it.
  8. One of the patients at work had completed a jigsaw puzzle, and it was still there, every single piece together, next to the box which said it was a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. I thought I'd count the number of pieces across, and down, then realised those numbers would not make 1000, so I proceeded to count each piece to see if they had somehow fleshed out certain pieces by enough somehow that there was 1000 pieces, turns out theres 1008 pieces though, the liars!
  9. I was going to say, I do believe that list is called 'The UCAS Directory' :p If you're at a school, they should have it in the library in book form, though tinternets is probably much easier, ucas probably don't even use paper any more.
  10. lol teletext, where can I find this GameCentral anyhoo? Man, teletext must have been the shit in like the early 90s and stuff.
  11. Dumb white guy all the way.
  12. Despite having lived in the same house as my brother(+3 yr) all my life, I feel like I barely know him at all. He's a very cold person, and gets moody whenever I would ask him a question about just his general life, when we was younger I looked up to him and loved him like a brother, but he basically treated me like a dog and was nothing more than a big bully, while things arent so bad anymore because I've given up on him and because I finally hit back, it still makes me sad sometimes I think I barely know my own brother, or when I see/hear stories from other people about how well they get on with their brother/sisters etc. I have an older sister too, she's 6 years old than me, and 3 years older than my brother, and he's the same with her too. She's pretty cool, though she's got some major attitude problems which can be annoying at times, but she's a really nice person, which is part of her downfall.
  13. I quite like poker, but I've only played it properly once with chips and all that, I don't know anyone who'd play poker with me. The time I played was a summer or two ago now, and it was my first time playing and this one time all I had was a queen high, and I managed to bluff my way to winning the pot with it. That was texas hold 'em, I used to play 5 card as a kid I think, but not for anything, so I didn't really play it proper.
  14. 16 years of Alcohol This was on Filmfour on Wednesday night as part of their British Connection thing. It's set in Scotland, not sure where about. It basically starts off with you seeing some guy on the floor getting the life kicked out of him, with the camera like looking down on his face, then he starts telling his story of his life. As a kid, his world fell apart around him, and he started drinking at an early age, that's like the first hallf hour of the film, then it fast forwards to him when he's older like in his 20s or 30s. He's a bit of a trouble maker, still enjoys his drink and a good fight too. Anyway, his life continues on, with him finding love, losing love etc leading up to the events that led to the opening scene. While I was watching it I was thinking about this thread, and was thinking I would rate it too high because it seemed to be a film about nothing really, but then I realise this was lke 2 in the morning and this film was actually good enough to make me keep from falling asleep. It's very well done, with lots of like good stylised bits using camera effects and whatnot, which I thought were really good. Despite not really being a film about anything, it is a film about everything. It's just a film about life, done quite well. I'd give it a 7.5/10 (P.S If anyone else saw this film, please PM and let me know, cos I missed a bit)
  15. Happy Birthday man, I hope you have a great one!
  16. Quick, post her msn for the humourous posters here to add her and strike up conversations about chubbying flubby! I'd love to read some fresh stuff, this is one of the most amusing threads on the board.
  17. Racist. Just kidding, that's a part of the problem that's gone on here, everyone shouting racist every other word. I am quite amused how they're all acting like they did nothing now, and how they claim they never would be racist never ever never. The funny thing is, racism sometimes happens without people realising they're doing it, just because you don't think you'd ever be racist, or can't recall doing it, doesn't mean you can't and haven't done it. The irony is, the underlying principle can apply to lots of different situations, where the words will be different and the context, but the same idea, and it won't be racist, if that makes sense.
  18. I just tuned in, they seem to have made up. I reckon Big Brother would want Jade to go, more people are gonna be watching if Shilpa's in, just to see if there's more controversy they can jump on. EDIT: On the Nazi front, I was reading about White Supremecist gangs and stuff, and it's not that they aren't christian, they just reject the judaism side of it, like of christianity stemming off it.
  19. Care to elaborate on your course? It isn't reall nerdy as such, but I have basically spent all day in bed just playing my DS. I barely at too, cos I'm too lazy to cook anything and parents aren't about. I've had 3 slices of tiger bread, they were like wicked yum.
  20. What is the difference between the BNF and the DSM-IV? Is the DSM for diagnostics and the BNF for medicating? You have a BNF for any particular reason(+5 NP), or just because(+10 NP)?
  21. I think Jodie started arguments with people alot, the cried because everyone pointed out how wrong she was, though yeah there was an element of bullying in that. I'm quite glad to see that what Shilpa said seems to have got Jade questioning herself, she's talking to Danielle about how she knows famous people and that's her claim to fame, but she's basically just reassuring herself.
  22. Did you throw away all the packaging and instructions for the wii or something? Not a wise move, you might need it if you run into any problems with the wii...
  23. I felt a bit nerdy when I found out I was only 1 of two people who went to see our lab tutor about our mini projects, also had to advise someone how to do superscript over the phone, which was weird. Other than that, I haven't done anything too nerdy, I don't think I do many nerdy thing. EDIT:I tell a lie, I read the top 200 quotes on bash.org and giggled at quite a few nerdy like jokes that alot of people I know wouldn't get. EDITEDIT: Due to one quote on bash.org, I proceeded to write the numbers 1-30 but in base 3, that was pretty nerdy, but I think I did it wrong.
  24. Happy Birthday Ten10, now people can say your name! What better present could anyone ask for??
  25. I saw the clip of Shilpa saying she thought she was wrong about thinking it was racism, thanks to none other than trusty...Newsround! I just happened to catch it in passing, I think this will die down soon, but it'll remain a talked about issue for a few weeks.
