Yeah I never stop fiddling with the TV's display settings, I've tried different ratios, display scanning, zooms...no luck. I wish developers would just standardise the ratio they use and stick with it.

I have a beautiful 42" rear projection TV and while most of my games play perfectly on them, be it in 50Hz, 60Hz or Progressive Scan, a handful of my games are displayed with small black bars along the left and right hand sides of the screen, worse on the left, as if the image doesn't stretch the full way. Why does this happen? Has anyone any idea?? For example, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and The Wind Waker play flawlessly, no black bars at all, yet Mario Power Tennis, Resident Evil 4 and Smash Bros play with those bars. It's so frustrating because RPTVs have the risk of burn-in if some of the screen gets more action than the rest (ie, the black bars stay stationary). Why only some games and not others?

Calling anyone who has a fairly good knowledge quality acoustic guitars! I have a Tanglewood semi-acoustic jumbo, she's a lovely thing but I think it's time I upgraded this Christmas (ie - someone better buy me one lol). I was thinking along the lines of a Takamine or Martin, Taylors are a bit too dear for me at the minute, but different Martin owners have told me at different times that a guitar between £300 and £900 will have little difference between them, basically you're paying for the quality of the woods, and that it's when you start going over a grand for it you can feel the excellence glow in your fingertips lol So I'm looking for a guitar between £400 and £600, but I don't know which one would be the best to go for. I'm a fingerpicker mainly, so the action should desirably be as low as possible without decreasing sound quality, but I also play in a band as the rhythm guitarist so it would need to withstand quite a bit of beatin' as well. Maybe a games forum isn't such a good start for asking about guitar advice, especially acoustic because every tom, dick and harry plays the electric nowadays! But if anyone could lend a hand, please give me a shout, cheers

Very sorry if this has come up before, please delete the thread if it already has - I'd be surprised if it hadn't! If not, please use this thread to discuss the book, I'm currently reading it and can't put it down at the minute. I just have a question for anyone who's read The Da Vinci Code, it's down below in the spoiler tag:

I like this idea as well, could be very effective, especially if a lot of non-Nintendo franchises were shown to get the general public watching.

Supposed teaser image for Luigi's Mansion 2

Blatantly fake - no Nintendo logos in sight either. -
I'm doing Irish and French for A2 at the moment, French is enjoyable but I haven't as much passion for it as I do for Irish, so I don't give it as much dedication. Plus you have to be in France to practice it efficiently, I can practice my Irish everyday here (no matter what anti-Irish language people say, it's still used actively by speakers).

British humour or American humour?
KingOfHyrule replied to KingOfHyrule's topic in General Chit Chat
Fawlty Towers! Jesus how could I forget Basil and Manuel lol supreme comedy. And The Young Ones - goes without saying! -
Being Irish, my sense of humour has been greatly influenced by British and Irish comedy and I just do not get the flamboyant American humour - how does everyone else feel? Personally I think there is just no topping the likes of Bottom, Monty Python, Mr. Bean, Father Ted, The Fast Show, etc, etc. American humour rarely tickles me.

I think I'd cry if Zelda went FP! There's no reason why Zelda can't stay in 3rd person and you just have full control over the items as it is, the Revolution controller can allow that without having to go FP.

Is it just me or does every ESC song now sound exactly the same as the next? What happened the days where all the songs were actual songs and not just synthesised shite with middle-eastern drums? Personally I think (I'm biased) that Ireland should get the finger out and start producing quality songs and start winning again. Gone are the days of Rock 'n' Roll Kids and The Voice, now RTÉ just churn out that tripe from You're A Star, and I've noticed the UK entry is chosen in a similar way. Wouldn't it be great if each nation actually composed a real song performed by a band and not just get some girl with big baps to sing a synthesised piece of music? Now that would be a ESC!

Has the IRA really decommisioned?
KingOfHyrule replied to Raining_again's topic in General Chit Chat
Paisley Jr and Peter Robinson would be two of the worst ones in my opinion to follow suit -

Has the IRA really decommisioned?
KingOfHyrule replied to Raining_again's topic in General Chit Chat
Decommission is the first step - once the IRA are certain sure that there is no need for them, and that the process is working as it should, they'll most certainly disband. They realise they just has to give up the armed struggle if they're to get anywhere; unionists refuse to talk to them because of it. Now, it'll be interesting to see what Paisley and his boys have to say to Sinn Féin when the IRA have publicly decommissioned...they'll have nothing to whinge over anymore. Oh - and General de Chastelain is a neutral outsider from Canada, brought in to review the decommissioning process in the north of Ireland  he can be trusted. Whether Paisley does (but who does he trust?) is another matter. -
I absolutely hate chicken. No, really! That's one of the few foods I never eat, bleugh. Plus it gives you boobs lol
