  1. I think I read similar, basically that the setup that they had for PS3 wasn’t designed for changes such as this and that if it wasn’t sorted then that would be the only solution, and the problem is that, because the PS4 setup is built on top of the pre-existing PS3 code, going back to an earlier point in the code (i.e. the PS3 user ID) and changing the username would have the ripple effect that a lot of stuff further down in the code could be lost as a result. However, I don’t see them offering that specific solution just because, as you say, it would be pretty much pointless. I have to imagine that they’ve figured out some sort of solution which isn’t going to tick many of their consumers off.
  2. StarWars.com has revealed the first image of the show: Looks like Tatooine to me, and what appears to be Boba’s gear polished/repainted/damaged (which I suppose gives further credence to this being Cobb Vanth, who I mentioned previously). We also have some more news on the behind-the-scenes work, and the director of the first episode will probably be familiar to anyone who has watched material outside of the films in the last decade: That’s right: Dave Filoni will finally get his chance at live-action direction for Star Wars, likely a stepping stone before he is eventually given the reins to a live-action film. Say what you might about some episodes of The Clone Wars and Rebels being a bit too directed at the younger audience, the fact remains that he was George Lucas’ one and only prodigy, and knows Star Wars - and how to tell a good Star Wars Story - as well as anyone. And then you see the list of the other directors for the show, and see the embarrassment of riches Lucasfilm have in tow. A bit odd that we don’t have a cast list yet, but we’ll likely see one prior to the end of the year.
  3. Numerous development sources have informed Kotaku that they’re preparing for PSN name changes.
  4. I’ll pop this into the Spider-Man thread too, but probably another great watch from Mark. I’ll finish the game first
  5. So what you’re telling me is that we’re screwed if we’re red-green colourblind?
  6. First details on Jon Favreau’s Disney GO live-action Star Wars series: Sounds like the spiritual successor to 1313, Underworld and the cancelled Boba Fett movie, and I am so onboard. The references to Boba and Jango specifically, whom are not considered Mandalorians in any official capacity canonically, are quite interesting, so I have to wonder if this story could centre around the slave-turned-sheriff of Freetown on Tatooine, who acquired their Sarlacc-damaged Mandalorian helmet and armour from some Jawas in a subplot of the canonical Aftermath trilogy of novels: Cobb Vanth. Interestingly, he also found a huttlet (likely related to Jabba), which was to be raised by the beastmaster we see mourning the loss of the Rancor in Return of the Jedi, Malakili. That’s just one distinct possibility of many for the show, which will take place three years after the events of Return of the Jedi. We don’t know much about the show thus far, but it is currently being filmed, so a cast list shouldn’t be too far away. I would expect a trailer by the end of April of next year, as Star Wars Celebration will return after its 2018 hiatus to shed some light on Episode IX, and possibly everything beyond that currently in the works, too.
  7. How many times have you accidentally grabbed and thrown a bin rather than the bomb too? Way too many times. It’s an actual problem. I think Spidey might hate bins more than he does the idea of a small portion of NY being levelled. Also:
  8. Hmm... Hmm...so we’ve gone through five years of silence, from its January 2013 reveal, to a tiny little nudge in January 2018 to remind us that the game still existed; got a trailer at E3 in June; got our first public look at the game during Gamescom in August; and, out of the blue, in October 2018, they’re revealing the (North American) distributor for the game? Anyone else smelling the potential for an upcoming release date announcement? I know I keep saying this, but...every single time we hear/see something about this game, 2019 just seems more and more likely. I maintain my optimism.
  9. Mine too! Can’t wait: it looks simply stunning, and the music in some of the trailers has been sensational — I’m hoping that it’s a hint of what’s to come with the full game. The only thing that I’m not really a fan of is having some extra Story Mode missions locked behind a pricier tier (Special Edition), especially seeing as this is Rockstar...you just know that they’ll make enough of a killing with their online mode that this will feel unwarranted.
  10. Yes, absolutely this. Sweeping grand swings across Manhattan are beautiful to watch and control, but his movement in small settings - and, as you stated specifically, under small ledges - seems to be something of a complete oversight on Insomniac’s behalf. With regards to the Taskmaster missions in particular, especially seeing as your score is practically determined solely by the time that you take to complete them, I’m surprised that the R1+L1 option to grab and throw the bombs with your webs doesn’t have a greater range (like it does in the overworld and battle scenarios) or that the R2+L2 “zip” isn’t centred on the bomb within a certain range; I keep finding myself zipping up to ledges, with the camera half-facing the wrong direction, and just wandering around rooftops holding R1+L1 in the hopes that the bomb is literally right next to me. Those, along with some occasional camera control issues and seemingly random drops in frame rate, are the only real qualms I have with the game so far. I really don’t mind the repetitive nature of the side content/collectibles (yet), and I think I’ve just got to the point where the story starts to pick up.
  11. Picked this up yesterday; I’m probably six hours or so into it. I’m loving it so far, and though the story has yet to really take off (completed about eight story missions), the traversal and events going on around Manhattan are more than enough to keep me busy. My style of play so far has just been to aim myself in the direction of the next story mission and then doing any tasks on my way, which has resulted in me getting 44 of the 55 backpacks. The combat feels great, too, very much like the Arkham series in this regard, though I’m still finding myself attempting to use Arkham’s grapple mechanic from time-to-time I haven’t actually invested in any upgrades or suits other than the ones required by the story, which is definitely keeping me on my heels for now. I’m also really enjoying the music, especially the main theme and all of its renditions in the game. I don’t go out of my way to Platinum games (I’ve only Platinum’d two non-Telltale games on my PS4), but I could certainly see myself cleaning up at the end of my time with this game, depending on how much I have left to do. Now to get back to swingin’ around
  12. Also worth noting that, while currently unconfirmed, the supposed file size of the game will be 105 GB.
  13. Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, has renewed her contract to stay at Lucasfilm until 2021. This comes after months of rumours and speculation about her stepping down from the position to retire. I’m glad that she’s stayed on, because there’s quite simply no-one around capable of filling her shoes as the President of Lucasfilm at this moment in time, and given that there are so many projects in the works right now regarding Star Wars, I think that consistency is needed now more than in the last few years. Off the top of my head, in terms of visual digested media, we have Episode IX currently in production, scheduled for release next December; the animated show Resistance starting soon; the animated show The Clone Wars returning next year for a twelve episode run as part of Disney Go; more than likely another animated series show in the works, spearheaded by Dave Filoni; Jon Favreau’s live-action show, expected to premiere on Disney Go by 2020; Rian Johnson’s trilogy of films; the D.B. Weiss and David Benioff saga; and, on top of all that, rumblings persist regarding a Kenobi standalone film. And that is just the stuff that we’ve actually heard about!
  14. Shawn Layden has confirmed that PSX will not be held this year in the PlayStation Blogcast. So, it sounds like the focus on PS4 game development is slowing down, seeing as they don’t have enough to bring to PSX to warrant staging it, which would be smart, considering the reaction to last year’s event: the PlayStation WeSitDown&YouWatchUsTalk Experience. PS5 inbound?
  15. Better than what they’ve previously put out, that’s for sure. Also, ILMxLAB has revealed Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series, releasing next year in Oculus Quest.
  16. I think he needs a lengthy break from the the game - there aren’t many managers today that have been managing since 2000 with only a season and a half or so without work (nearly a full season when he left Chelsea the first time, and six months when he left us the second time?), let alone having been at the top level in a managerial capacity in Europe for nearly 15 years now. Managers are only becoming younger and younger, of course, but I think that he should borrow a pages out of Pep’s book from when he chose to take a sabbatical. It just looks like he’s running around in circles at this point, chasing his former glories like a dog chasing its tail, and he hasn’t managed in a Champions League final for nearly a decade, and though the same can be said about Pep too, it’s clear that one is enjoying managing much more and having much more success than the other. Speaking of Mourinho...
