Agreed on big break . but I just cannot understand why anyone would prefer Voyager to Deep space nine. DS9 is a completely different style show to the rest of the star trek series. As usual though it takes about 4 seasons for it to REALLY take off. You HAVE to watch it from the start though unlike the others. There was a LOT of 2 or 3 parters and one would not have a CLUE what was going on if you joined in late on. It had the dominion war as well and it's by far the darkest star trek series and the effects were top-notch! Sisko as a captain was sort of more ruthless than the others and led to a more action packed series. Just because Voyager was shown more and more accessible doesn't mean it was better. Find it hard to believe that ye praise Battlestar so highly but shit on deep space 9. Same brain behind both and has a lot of similarities I'll try not to keep banging on about it. This would be my order though. DS9 Next generation Voyager Original series Enterprise never watched the animated series.

That's because it makes India look like shit though. Any country would be pissed off if it was made look bad in a foreign film. Austria for example hate the sound of music. I feel asleep during watchmen actually. Swear to god have no idea what people saw in that. I'm told that i'm supposed to have read the graphic novel before I went in and that's why I didn't "get it"? But am that's a bullshit defensive.

Never walked out of the cinema, Have fallen asleep at a few though.

First of all I'm irish. Even father ted was produced by channel 4, generally it's pretty much an irish comedy, Irish writers and actors etc. Our own network stupidy turned it down first. It's pretty much one of the funniest comedies you can watch actually. But hell that's my opinion. I'm not really sure where you're going with this. You're giving out to me for thinking the 90's were better and then giving out to me for not arguing my point better( by not mentioning Seinfeld?) To be honest, I'm very big into my cartoons and that WAS my main point when I said tv was better. Probably should have made that clearer because the more I think about it the more I think that Perhaps 2000's were better for actual live-action tv after all Oh and game shows used to be better too. I WILL defend father ted to the grave though but then again so would any Irishman, so i'm probably biased there

dragonball itself never took off over here. I believe it had a short run in 1995 but didn't get the audience. Z then got a short ocean dub run but again the same problem and was cancelled shortly into it. Didn't get the attention until it appeared on toonami in 1998.. the same year the pokemon anime got localised in the US. So it's highly arguable. I really think pokemon contributed to the eventual success of dragonball z. I personally went through a pokemon phase before dragonball anyway. I know most people here will testify to the fact that the first anime they ever watched was pokemon.

I never remembered them showing the original series on tv actually. I've seen dubs on-line but there's a lot of material in it they would never show for kids on tv. But the original series doesn't seem to have a whole load of filler. Maybe it does but I find it's a lot faster paced.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
mcj metroid replied to ndreamer's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The ads are REALLY focuses on how your character looks isn't it? It's such a small part of the game. Dragon quest just isn't a casual gamers style of game, Maybe they should have focused this on the hardcore. -
It's just that the basketball wasn't all that good in the ds version. It's an odd camera view for a basketball game. Should it not try it like nba jam and every other one? Maybe the rest will be fun.

awwwww Glad to see him again. It's a breath of fresh air. When I saw the title I was worried about a cgi movie like the smurfs.

Sorry guess it's been a long shitty day for me. I'm not seeing humor anywhere Ha in my experience it's the opposite. Wouldn't call myself a massive star trek fan either though.

There are a lot of anime fans on this forum and I think we have a lot to thank Pokemon as an anime for. It may not have been very good overall but we all liked it as kids and it made us thirst for more... There is no reason to get offensive. I never do, and if you get offended by one of my posts then you are taking it too personally.

haha ok that's your opinion, you're in a vast minority there though. Wow i've heard arguments between Star trek original series, Next generation and DS9 but never had voyager been lumped in there before. Meh Next i'll be hearing Enterprise. I'm not actually trying to be mean here so you know Just so you know i'm not responding to the rest because you just listed random shows....I can do that too. and don't get your pants in a twist over pokemon.. Was just saying is all..

I'll just answer this part first... 1: lol at voyager being better than ds9. Ds9 had a continuing plot. You really had to watch it from the beginning. Roland D Moore even joined the Voyager staff and left after a number of weeks because he didn't like where things were going... and yes this guy would be the creator of the battlestar galactica remake which you claim wins the argument. 2: Slag the pokemon anime all you want but it paved the way for digimon and many others to come afterwards. It basically popularized the whole "anime trend" single handidly.

With tv we had the best of cartoons. I can't really speak too much for the 70's but the 80's was generally tranformers rip-offs or... well my little pony or Jem. In the 90's we had the batman animated series, spiderman, x-men For those who didn't like action there was comedy classics such as animaniacs, freakazoid and I challenge you to find me a a cartoon that made such an impact as pokemon or the simpsons( which was great in that decade) For live-action shows. The best star trek series Deep space nine aired in this time. the x-files scared the shit outta people without having to go the cinema. Fraiser Red dwarf( I know it got it's start in the very late 80's but season 3 it REALLY took off) Father Ted I know you're not from the uk region but the uk game shows were awesome too. Not that this X factor and Big brother crap these days. Seriously It's hard to argue against 90's been some of the best tv for all time. Sometimes yes. A lot of things are better than now though and I believe that's from a non-nostalgic point of view. IN saying that we will slap our heads when people our age in ten years say " omg the 00's were awesome remember the crazy frog!"
-
It's too long and dated to the point it's hardly watchable anymore. I'm all for nostalgia but this is ridiculous. I have NO doubt legacy will be better than the original Can't wait.
-
We had the best of TV and movies. You can argue games but unfortunetly the 80's and 70's win the music round. I miss the 90's.

I hear the show was called dragonball z you'd never know it from that opening
-
I don't think they are up to a game that rivals F-zero gx to be honest.

Most of the stuff thats been left out is stuff you'd rather not watch. e.g goku does NOT fall off snakeway there is no princess snake No Piccolo and company training sequence with king kai. no garlic junior saga to name but a few.. I'm not sure yet. The english dub is only as far as episode 42 and

AH HIILL NAW! I'd say sonic cd was overated but it didn't get a whole lot of attention. I hate getting mad off-topic but nah it's the worst of the originals I thought, still better than anything released after sonic and knuckles though.
-
Anybody keeping an eye on this series. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dragon_Ball_Z_Kai_episodes for those who don't know it's a remake of the dragonball Z series but sticks exactly to the manga so entire story arcs are left out. It's going from 291 episodes to 100. As a big fan of the dragonball series, I REALLY enjoy this one. I refuse to watch the japanese audio version cause the voices just urk me, So I'm keeping an eye on the english dub. When you watch the uncut versions it's quite awesome. It's great to have the orchestrated soundtrack from the jap version though. Vast improvement on the english opening we got too.

I know it's off-topic but shoot Main platforming ones now. Sonic 3> sonic 2> Sonic and knuckles > Sonic 1 > sonic cd OR sonic 3 and knuckles> sonic 2> sonic 1> sonic cd But all are awesome! I can see what you would think that. For me though it's one of the best zelda titles. The action starts STRAIGHT away. Nowadays it takes us about 2 hours to go through an intro and get the damn sword.
