  1. Oh, that sucks. Hope it gets sorted soon! Thanks to everyone for being such good sports and playing along. Same time, next week? OK, OK, use your normal controls that may have made me crash into a few walls. Just from my perspective, it was hilarious, so the highlights should make for some fun moments. Oh, and @RedShell may have taught me something about his hairstyle...
  2. Yes, but you didn't choose the Mii. Quick, fix it!
  3. If you're using the Gamepad, start a single player race and pause the game. You should be able to touch an icon of a Gamepad with arrows surrounding it. If you're using the Wii Wheel. Just use that on the title screen.
  4. Final heads-up, if you're going to use the gamepad's gyro controls, make sure the motion controls are actually on. You can do this on the pause menu or on the gamepad's screen. Also, don't forget to scan the QR code Mii, rename it so we can tell who you are and mark it as a favourite. You can always delete it afterwards.
  5. Yep, it's great. The game knows it's an idiotic concept and runs with it. Anyway, got a horse, named it Totally Useless and almost got offed, but saved myself with the power of solitaire! This is easily the most exciting solitaire game I've ever played.
  6. Wusses, the bunch of ya! You need to take a leaf from Wii Fit Trainer's book and be more flexible!
  7. Ah, didn't know that. Ta for the N-E history lesson, guys.
  8. Well, well, aren't we moving up in the world? Maybe NeoGAF will finally put this site on its review threads now.
  9. @Dcubed wasn't the only one here who got early access... Well, here are my thoughts. BTW, I hate Lylat Wars. Keep that in mind.
  10. Right, I'm sure you've all read the review by @Dcubed. And while I haven't played it quite as much as him, I still reached the credits before him. But that won't stop me from writing up my thoughts. What's up with that stupid little smirk? Star Fox Zero is a WiiU game that released in... tomorrow... Huh... That doesn't happen very often for me. First things first. I really dislike the traditional Star Fox games. You want proof? My favourite game was Star Fox Adventures. No kidding. Lylat Wars just bores me to tears. So naturally, when DCubed got his review copy, I was a bit apprehensive. But, being one of the first to play a big release like this was too appealing. Star Fox Zero is an arcade space shooter game. You fly an Arwing (Or Landmaster, or Gyrowing) through a number of stages and shoot things in an attempt to not blow up. Sounds simple enough, but this game became quite controversial once the control scheme was revealed. I'm sure there was absolutely no hyperbole thrown at the game after this! The game provides two viewpoints. A traditional outside-the-vehicle view on the TV and a cockpit view on the Gamepad. Along with that, aiming is done via the Gamepad's gyro controls. And while I'll always maintain that Gyro controls are a million times easier to aim with than a control stick. The purists out there mostly disagreed. But are they any good? Especially for a guy like me? Well, yes! At least, they were after some practice. There's a steep learning curve, that's for sure. No matter how good you are at Star Fox, you're not going to master the controls without paying attention to that tutorial and fumbling around for the first few stages. But it was around the halfway mark that the controls started to click for me. The trick was to know when to look at the Gamepad. If you look at the Gamepad everytime you want to shoot stuff, you'll never get those high scores. I started only looking at the Gamepad for hitting weak points on bigger enemies or for hitting off-screen ships. And by the end of my first playthrough, I was firing homing shots at off-screen enemies without even looking at the Gamepad! It felt so natural and really gave me the impression that my hard work in learning the controls had paid off. Like DCubed said, this game demands a lot from the player but gives a lot in return. It's a real shame that some people will no doubt dismiss the game because of it's unorthodox controls. The game isn't perfect, of course. There was one particular mission involving the new Gyrowing that had a bit of enforced stealth in it. Nothing provides an Anti-Glen repellent better than enforced stealth. Thankfully, it was just one level, and I was quickly back to blowing stuff up. I'm truly amazed at how much I enjoyed this game. The controls truly make it so much more fun than the other Star Fox games. The action is unrelenting and the game wouldn't be what it is without the motion controls. Give it time and you'll be well rewarded! And really, if I can get my head around the gyro controls, you Star Fox diehards have no excuse. And with that...
  11. Damn right, I'm in for all three! And don't worry @Dcubed, I'll be sure to ruin your custom stages again!
  12. Very enjoyable show. I do like the "Last-minute Bath News" segment. Cool idea. That bloke barging in with his opinion on Star Fox Zero during the preview was so handsome and suave, who is he? As for "Snuggly" games, I find myself not being able to go a year without revisiting a game that undoubtedly makes me feel warm inside. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky I love the gameplay of the PMD series, and this entry is one of the best. (Although I'm not sure I can choose between this and the latest one now) Given the standard of Pokemon stories, this game has a stonkingly great one with likable characters and a plot that gets surprisingly grim before resolving itself. Just like a good story should. Not gonna lie, the ending may have made me tear up a little the first time I played it. Gaming never makes me do that and a Pokemon spin-off game is the first (And still the only one) to pull that off. Mental! In fact, it might have done that twice in one playthrough... Oh, and it single-handedly made Grovyle the coolest starter Pokemon in all of Pokemon history. And that's not an opinion, it's cold hard fact.
  13. Unless you want Ninty games? Also I really don't have the income for PC gaming...
  14. Out of the 30 or so kids who regularly come to play my WiiU at my local community centre, 10 never owned a Wii, so I'll just disregard those kids. But out of the rest, only 2 actually knew that the WiiU was a separate console. 1 of those owns the console and the other is just well informed. The other 20-ish did indeed think it was an add-on/accessory. While it doesn't speak for all of Europe of course, it does go to prove that in England at least, advertising for this console was atrocious. Naturally, that was over half a year ago. They all know better now. And since then, 3 of them have bought a WiiU (With Smash, of course). So I've done about as much as they have?
  15. Just watched the video. Seriously, @RedShell, that might just be the most evil, cold-hearted thing I've ever seen you do. Nice job!
  16. I can't believe what I'm hearing... That's my favourite 2D Mario castle theme.
  17. You've not been paying much attention if you can't see the connection between the theme and the Mii. Do you just drown out my pop-up messages I do in between each race? That particular bit was @Dcubed's idea though. I'm not that vain. There, that should throw them off the scent that I was totally on board with the idea without even a bit of convincing needed! EDIT: Oh, and fair warning. The motion controls may not be mandatory, but if you don't go along with it, everyone will know. And I am not above naming and shaming those who chicken out with big massive, garish bold font so that it's impossible to miss. I want to see wheel icons next to everyone's names except mine! Oh yes, and you can choose the Gamepad's gyro controls or the Wii remote sideways, it's up to you. The wheel icon will still appear if you use it from the start. But if you choose to use the Gamepad's Gyro controls, remember to start a single player race and switch to gyro mode with the pause menu/gamepad touch screen before joining a room, just to be safe..
  18. It's nice and comfortable, I played MH4U for hours on end with no issues. Then again, I played Kid Icarus: Uprising on an old 3DS without managing to break my arm in half so maybe I'm just weird.
  19. May I ask what the theory was? Was it an attempt to keep whoever was in first in check?
  20. Pretty good night for me! I was kinda enjoying all the 'nana blockades! There was one moment, second lap on Shy Guy Falls, right at the first set of items, there were around 8 of the yellow things all in a row! That got me a bit panicky. What the hell happened on that first lap!?
  21. Yep, I remember that. Had a feeling it was you, nice to see it confirmed. He's still a nonce though! Anyway, had a bit of practice. With this item choice, the final lap will truly make or break a race. Careful now! Let's do this!
  22. Oh no you don't! I was the one who did the recon on that shortcut. And I'm exposing the truth! In that one race, that shortcut was attempted 8 times. 2 people pulled it off flawlessly. 1 person had to use grass to save themselves. 5 people gracefully flung themselves to their doom. But you know what the most interesting bit was? @Dcubed, you did that twice! You nonce! Anyway, that choice of music was great. I love that Wrecking Crew remix!
  23. My most anticipated game of this year already came out. And it was worth every penny!
  24. Legends just came out! Give it a bit more time for that game to settle in first.
  25. So it's the same type as Klefki? Great... If it's half as infuriating as that thing, I'm gonna hate it with a passion.
